4 double bedrooms available at Proissans, close to medieval Sarlat. Peaceful setting, easy access to all local attractions and sites of interest. Bi-lingual family. Search for our other adverts named after 'Tess','Emilie' and 'Marielle'

The space

Jeremy and his family welcome you to Chantegrel, just to the north-east of Sarlat la Caneda, near the village of Proissans. We are a bi-lingual (English/French) family who have lived in the area for the last 18 years. Our property is situated in a secluded part of the countryside and is surrounded by forest, and at the same time is only 5 minutes by car from the centre of the medieval town Sarlat la Caneda. In short we are well placed for all of the major attractions in this beautiful area of France. My daughters, and some of our trusted friends, regularly come back to help me, I am not always the only host.

We have a large house with four spare bedrooms. Thus we have four double bedrooms available. This advert is for Coralie’s room, approximately 15m² with ample wardrobe space and sufficient room for a travel cot. This room bedroom has its own en-suite shower room. The toilet is separate, just outside the bedroom door.

Please note that we do not do “chambre d’hote”, that is evening meals. We are more than pleased to advise you on the best places to eat locally, outside of the normal tourist ‘trap’ restaurants there are some outstanding restaurants in the area. Equally we will be pleased to advise you on where to go, and more importantly on how to get there. In the main summer season, knowing how to avoid the local bottlenecks is as important as knowing what to visit.

Guest access

Breakfast is available in our large lounge/kitchen (90m²), or, you may eat outside. Breakfast is continental in style and is self-service (between 7.45am and 9.30am). Fresh bread supplied from the village each morning. Breakfast includes a fresh bread baguette, a large selection of jam, fruit juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate… If you wish to order “viennoiseries” (croissant, chocolatine, pain aux raisins), we are more than happy to get them for you, however they will constitute an extra cost for you).

You also have access to the pool (see extra details) and to our kitchen if you wish (we will make space for you in the fridge).

Interaction with guests

Chantegrel is our home and we are around most of the time. We often keep ourselves occupied around the house, we are therefore very available if you need us. If you need to know what to do, where to go and how to get there, please just ask us.

Other things to note

We have a large swimming pool. The pool itself is in excess of 90m², the pool surround close to 150m². The pool is unheated, the shallow end is 90cms deep and at its deepest is 2m10. Please note the pool is alarmed, is surrounded by a wall, but is not surrounded by a ‘security fence’. Due to the size of the pool and the difficulty of adequately fencing it we have chosen the legal option of 2 pool alarms. This pool is available for your use. The pool is available for use from 8th June onwards. Please note that all children who are minor should be accompanied at all times.

By law, guests have to pay a tourism tax. The 2017 rate is €0.75 per person per night. This fee should be settled with the owners before departure.

We had an extremely short stay here, but Jeremy and Michele were very accommodating and helpful. We arrived very late at night and they were still up and very nice to receive us and help us so late. It is a really lovely property that I wish we had more time to take advantage of. Jeremy was also very quick to respond to all inquiries and communication before our arrival.

We really enjoyed our stay in Jeremy's place. The countryside was really beautiful and there was lots to do in the surrounding area if you have a car. The room was clean and comfortable (our only small complaint was that the room was slightly hot at night - but we were staying in 30 degree heat)! The pool was really impressive for an airbnb and the sunloungers were a nice place to relax. Jeremy was on hand to give us any help we needed and the breakfast he provided was great. We would stay again!

We are Jeremy and Michèle a bi-lingual couple who moved from the UK with our children in late 1999. Our property is called 'Lieu dit Chantegrel' or 'The area called singing crickets' in the local patois. Now that our children have moved away we have a spacious house with 2 spare bedrooms. We are fairly relaxed in style and tend to adapt our style of living to the season. So, if you arrive after 5pm in July and August you will probably find us by the pool until sundown. This area has has a lot to offer and we hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
