A single room in a beautiful apartment just a few minutes to Midtown Manhattan with a full bed, desk to work at, and access to the entire apartment to cook, do laundry, or lounge. Half a block from the Subway, 2 blocks from East River & Ferry.
Spacious and handsome duplex apartment on one of the nicest streets in the neighborhood – just steps away from the train, the beautiful waterfront parks, a great cafe, the best bagels in the borough, and a critically-renowned gastropub.
You'll have a private room on the top floor with a window, AC, desk, and large closet. A roomy eat-in kitchen is downstairs, and a comfy couch is in the living room. Your bathroom is directly next to the bedroom and is shared with one of the roommates. Luckily he is out of the house for work from 6:30AM - 7:30 PM each day so you will rarely not have access to the bathroom!
Guests will have access to basically everything. Living room is completely free, you can use all of the kitchen, washer/dryer.
There's a backyard, but that's only available when one of the roommates is home.
Interaction with Guests
Two fairly busy professionals live here. We're more than happy to give tips about the city or nearby restaurants but more often than not you probably won't see us unless it's very late at night.
One of the roommates works in the neighborhood at a startup and is locally available if needed.
Long Island City is one of the hottest neighborhoods in NYC, and for good reason. The food here is amazing, and we're just 2 blocks from a beautiful waterfront park.
We are less than a block to the 7 train at Vernon-Jackson! This means we are 5 minutes from Grand Central and 10 minutes from Times Square.
Also nearby: G train at 21st, E/M trains at Court Square, LIRR at Hunters Point, and the East River Ferry. Walking distance over the Pulaski Bridge to Greenpoint and Williamsburg (though that's a bit of a trip).
Street parking in our neighborhood is pretty good too. All street parking is free and there are no restrictions for permits. We have no alternative side parking restrictions, which means a car never has to move and we are 3 blocks from the entrance to the Long Island Expressway. There's usually a lot of free spots but there are plenty of convenient parking garages in the area as well if need be.
We have a guest book and want to hear your stories!
Arya and Ben are both hospitable, easy-going and accommodating hosts. My husband and I stayed for 11 days and enjoyed our stay very much. The place is as described and shown in the photos. The bed is very comfortable. We have a basket of treats in our room when we arrived, much appreciated! The neighbourhood is very quiet with lots of great restaurants on Vernon just steps away. The location is very convenient - around the corner from the subway station & a couple of blocks away from the water cab - which made for a great home-base for our trip!
Arya and Ben are awesome, helpful and very hospitable hosts. Any questions or concerns you might have, they will not hesitate to help you asap. Arya even sent me a detailed information about neighborhoods in NY, as I'm moving here and I wasn't familiar with them too much.
The room and apartment:
Super nice, clean and sunny room, very spacious for a city like New York. Nice and spacious living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is a duplex and has its own backyard. The apartment is amazingly located a short 1-2 minute walk to the subway where the 7 train runs. Manhattan is ONE stop away!
The neighborhood is up and coming and there's supermarkets, bars and restaurants just around the corner. I actually decided to move to Long Island City.
I loved being at Arya's place ! It was very clean and comfortable. The location was great! One block from my daughter's apartment with with lovely granddaughter. There was a cozy bakery a few doors down to get my morning coffee and a biscuit. Arya sent me a few welcoming emails to tell me about his place,he was out of town the weekend I arrived but was kind enough to drop a key with my son-in-law. Ben his roommate was there to welcome me when I arrived from my daughters' Saturday night Will definitely stay there again! Maureen
Arya was very flexible with the check-in and check-out time and this made my trip way easier. thank you so much!
Arya is an AWESOME host and very sweet. We experienced a medical emergency while visiting and he was nice enough to wake up in the middle of the night and recommend the better hospitals to go to in New York City. Upon arrival, he was open to any questions on how to get around the city as well as great food and tourist recommendations. The location was perfect for us because it was only 2 stops away from times square. We really appreciated his hospitality.
One is a Baruch graduate from Long Island who helped found a startup, currently based in Long Island City. He builds furniture in his spare time, knows every up and coming restaurant in the area, and is one of the few people who can pull off Red framed glasses. Ben. Roomate #1.
The other is a displaced Montrealais who was attracted to Queens by it's multiculturalism. He sells Minor Metals to Manufacturers by day and pretends to be a chef for his friends by night. He loves jazz music, traveling around the world, and a good burger. Arya. Roomate #2.
