Neal's house off Alberta was an absolute dream! The home has a very sweet charm and is extremely warm and inviting. He had an awesome record collection out to sample, and the stereo was totally top notch. You can tell he puts a lot of work into giving you a damn nice TV FREE experience.
Fantastic place, exactly as described, run professionally. Nicely flexible. Will book again when back in Portland.
Neal's place is great. It's a charming, well-equipped house in a beautiful, convenient neighborhood. It worked out perfectly for our group, and I would definitely stay there again.
Aside from the house being great, Neal is such a pleasure to work with. He answered all our questions, helped cater to our specific travel circumstance, and was helpful in providing a list of neighborhood spots to visit, restaurants and the like. The home was warm and welcoming - you can tell he really takes pride in the space - and it was a great spot in a charming neighborhood. Would definitely recommend staying here and will certainly do so next time in Portland!
Neal's place is great. The location was great. I walked across the street for my morning coffee every day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Neals lovely home. It was very clean and cozy, with clear helpful notes dotted throughout the bungalow where needed. (internet, heating, shower, etc)
The neighbourhood was just perfect, quiet, delightful, and safe. We rented bicycles and cycled into downtown Portland a few times, it's a lovely ride and takes about 20 minutes or so. However there's also a bus stop right across the street which can run you downtown easily too. And when you don't want to trek downtown, there's still a good amount of food and things within a few blocks - some of the best breakfast spots are just two blocks away.
Neal was also a pleasure to communicate with during the whole process. It was the perfect Airbnb experience from top to bottom!

About the Host, Neal
Thanks for having a look and considering staying in my home. I travel a lot for work and find that the best experiences happen when I stay in a house in a cool neighborhood that is removed from, but close to, the downtown or commercial area of a city. I'm so lucky to have a home in an amazing area of Portland and look forward to sharing this place with guests. I personally think this is the ideal neighborhood for many reasons, including proximity: I'm a short walk from Alberta Arts, 15 minute bike ride to downtown, 15 minute bike ride to SE Hawthorne area, and a 10 minute drive to the airport.
A few tips: Dalos Ethiopian restaurant is 15 blocks away and perhaps the best inexpensive meal in all of Portland. Try the burger at Grain & Gristle across the street. Take a walk to the Sabin Community Garden. Go see a movie at the Kennedy School. Get a piece of pie at Random Order.
Enjoy your time in this beautiful city!
