The house is located in the center of Williamsburg, in a most convenient and very safe area. While the street is busy with pedestrian traffic, the house and back yard are quiet and private. The back yard is especially beautiful, a green oasis that includes plenty of room to sit and relax, as well as a tree house and a slide for kids. The house itself is quaint, homey, and roomy, well equipped with furniture and kitchen accoutrements that will put you in mind of the '50's and '60's. It has a large open living room-dining area, and the three upstairs bedrooms give plenty of space for a family. My 3-generational family were all eager to return home at the end of the day. Nicholas is extremely easy to get a hold of, and eager to be sure every guest has a great experience. Recommend most highly.
I wish we could keep this place a secret! All I can say is we absolutely LOVED staying in Nicholas' wonderful home in Williamsburg. We are a family of 5, with two young kids and a baby and it was just perfect for our needs. The house feels like a home - full of wonderful vintage furnishings, books and toys for the kids, an astounding music collection and even a beautiful backyard - all in the heart of NYC!
The location is brilliant. Just a few stops from Bedford Ave on the L train and a couple of blocks from the great East River Ferry (North Williamsburg stop). Wonderful restaurants and shops on the doorstep and in the heart of a thriving community.
Nicholas was a great host. He responded to all enquiries immediately, and courteously. I recommend him wholeheartedly. The house was clean and well provided for and accurately described. There was also plenty of useful info inside the house on practicalities like lighting and recycling, and also on the surrounding area.
In short, this was a fantastic experience for me and my family. I couldn't have been happier with the home and the location, and we will definitely be back. If we can get a booking! Thank you Nicholas!
Super logement vintage, spacieux et très agréable jardin dans un quartier très animé. A 2 pas du métro et à 10 minutes du centre de Manhattan, toute la famille a adoré ! Communication très facile avec Nicolas, allez-y sans hésiter !
This is a great little house, just off the main drag of Williamsburg hipsterville. If you love to be in the heart of it, with TONS to see and do on your doorstep then you will love it here. We did! Great neighbourhood for grown up fun, with everything you need nearby, but also felt safe and local enough for our fairly small kids to get the hang of it. The house is a gem- everything is pretty much hand made or vintage, and was perfect for our multigenerational holiday with 6 to 80 year olds all happy (although Gran could have done with a bit less noise at night). We had one of the best holidays ever, so thank you Nicholas for hosting us so well.
This is a wonderful house, and a great place to stay for a break in New York.
We are a family of four who stayed here for a week in July 2015. We loved the house -- especially the jukebox -- and the location.
All the facilities were good, comfortable beds, everything provided. We didn't use the stove -- we were on holiday in New York, so we ate out -- but it is a lovely period piece, and looks like it would be more than up to the task of cooking a slap-up meal.
The aircon worked well, which you need in a humid New York summer.
The location was ideal for us. Two minutes walk to the subway station at Bedford Avenue, then three stops to 14th Street Union Square (you'll become very familiar with this interchange as you visit Manhattan).
Williamsburg is a vibrant, bustling area, with lots of restaurants, cafés and bars. Try the muffin shop round the corner in Bedford Avenue; it also does great bagels.
Nicholas, the host, was very helpful with all our queries, and even let us have some friends who visited from upstate New York stay for a night.
We had a big group, including 3 children, who felt right at home in Nicholas' place. We knew it would be child-friendly, but did not expect all of the wonderful toys right at the kids' fingertips. It was evident that children had grown there and been happy. There was also a hidden tree house slide in the backyard, which the kids really loved. Magical! The favorite spot was the frozen yogurt shop right across the street. We also frequented the 24-hour organic market right next door. The accommodations were charming, clean, comfortable and fun! Really perfect for us. I enjoyed all of the vintage items in the house, most especially the Chambers stove in the kitchen. The main room was large enough for all of us to gather. When we needed to travel to Manhattan, the subway was a short block away. My son lives a few streets over, so it was convenient for him to visit, too. Lots of great restaurants in the neighborhood. Nice neighborhood! Considering what we paid for this, which was much less than a hotel suite, we feel that we more than got our money's worth. We will definitely ask to stay again when we come back to Brooklyn!
Dejligt, rent hus. Gamle møbler og knirkende gulve med masser af charme. Et hus med have i Williamsburg er guld værd efter en travl dag på Manhattan. Der er masser af shopping muligheder og gode take-away restauranter.

About the Host, Nicholas
Our family of five spent 10 great years in this house, We moved some distance away a couple years ago.
I come in for film & radio production work occasionally and stay in the basement and/or back house.
Our neighbors down the street take care of the house.
The home has a lot of our life in it still, and our kids were born there.
It's a keeper.
