It is kept very well for our guests. I keep a studio apartment in the basement. You are not likely to notice.

  • We loved this place. One of our party arrived early and needed a place to rest up and Nicholas made a spot available. The house is in a great area, a block from the L subway stop and everything we needed. The area is interesting, with artists' work visible here and there, and the apartment also has many artist-touches. It also has an extensive library of children's books and play items for children if you bring your family. We had a good time here.

  • Nicholas was a helpful host and answered emails quickly. He assisted us on the last day with storing our bags. The apartment is quirky and different, with a character all its own. The best thing about it is its position in the heart of Williamsburg, near the subway and lively Bedford Street. We loved the change from being in Manhatten - the subway was quick and easy and we used the nearby ferry one day to get across to Manhatten. An enjoyable holiday.

  • We had a very nice stay in Williamsburg, the house is beautiful, nicely furnished, the beds are comfortable and the garden in the backyard was perfect for breakfast and to relax. The house is very quiet. Manhattan is easy and fast to reach via the L train, but the choice and quality of the surrounding restaurants and bars made us stay in Brooklyn for most of the nights. We definitely would like to come back soon.

  • This house is perfect for a visit to Williamsburg. It's right in the middle of everything and steps from the L train. The beds were comfortable. The tub is a dream. Nicholas was available and and a very nice host. We'll be back, I'm sure.

  • My family stayed here during my wedding and it was the perfect location for out of towners. Extremely close to the L, my sisters and their kids easily hopped on it to the city to go sight seeing. The apartment was really cool and fun for two families to share!

  • We had an amazing time staying at Nicholas' place. The house was well kept, in great condition and had an interesting (eclectic) feel to it. The garden is lovely on warmer days, but when it's cold the jukebox offers a great collection of songs with which to spend a lazy evening. The location of the house is perfect, Williamsburg Brooklyn is one of the most easy going, hip places I've been to for a while. Lots of great bars, stores, galleries and amazing street art. Although it might be noisy at night (what else to expect in a city that never sleeps) this didn't bother me at all. The liveliness of the neighborhood was infectious.

Some places to go to in Williamsburg: The Cameo (comedy nights on wednesdays), Maracuja, This 'n That & many more!

  • Our experience was very positive. The house was a charming old house with a fun wurlitzer and a lot of toys for kids. Almost next door a 24 hour shop for groceries. Fast, by subway, connection to manhattan. We had a great time. Nicholas was very helpfull and reacted very quickly to our questions. Recommended!

  • We had a wonderful week at Nicholas' house. The location is perfect; close to restaurants, bars and Williamsburg shopping. Manhattan is 10 minutes away on the subway. We'll be back.

  • The house is in a great location close to the Subway on the L line. It's only one stop to Manhattan so we did lots of sightseing and saw two Broadway shows. You can hear the trains rumble under the house but it's not very loud and you get used to it. The street is noisy at night, especially at the weekends. There are lots of good local restaurants, a bowling alley, a movie theatre, a play park and a supermarket within a few blocks walk. The Barclays centre is a great venue for sports and entertainment in Brooklyn!

If your style is retro and you like antiques you'll enjoy staying here. If your style is contemporary and you prefer modern furniture/decor you may not like it. Please note that there is no microwave and no washer/dryer in this home. We're a big family and we stayed here for 11 nights so this was inconvenient for us. The bedrooms have plenty of room for 4 or 5 people to sleep but the living room needs another couch or an arm chair. The TV is very old with just a few channels that work. Luckily the kitchen has a dishwasher but the stove is from the 1940s!

Our family of five spent 10 great years in this house, We moved some distance away a couple years ago. I come in for film & radio production work occasionally and stay in the basement and/or back house. Our neighbors down the street take care of the house. The home has a lot of our life in it still, and our kids were born there. It's a keeper.
