We felt terrible that we arrived late to Phil and Jude's place but we were greeted very kindly upon arrival! What a beautiful home and great place they have. All of the work they have put in to making their place look the way it does is truly impressive. The amenities were exactly as described. Breakfast in the morning was also fantastic. I wish we could have stayed longer!
Phil and Jude's farmhouse is lovely, the amenities were fantastic, clean and tidy room in a lovely little village. However, we didn't feel hugely welcomed and with endless signs up all over the house it felt very much like we were constantly having to watch our step to make sure we didn't do anything wrong and thus never felt like we could relax.
We're pleased you enjoyed your one night stopover. There's a small sign on the bedroom window asking guests to close the windows when they leave, and one on the front door asking guests to close that, too. You might be surprised but even in winter thoughtless people leave them open! We have beeen doing B&B for ten years and we have learned that to avoid wastage and damage to the property, and to tell guests how to use some of the facilities like the TV lounge and drinks faciliies, a small number of information signs are necessary, however reluctant we were initially to put them up. If ever you achieve your ambition of opening gites in France you'll soon learn that not everyone brings their common sense on holiday! :)
