I have one and only one house rule: While you are here this is your house and we all live together. Be respectful to the other guests, please clean up after yourself and most importantly please feel at home!
it is simple relaxing place, close to nature, nothing fancy so do not come if you are looking for luxury resort or hotels!!!
We had a fantastic time at spicy villa, our guide boon was amazing and such a good cook! You will not go hungry. The accommodation basic but cosy just as we expected. Views are amazing eat breakfast watching the elephants. If I had stayed longer than two nights I quite simply wouldn't have (website hidden) is a lovely welcoming host. I recommend this experience to all those looking for something different, although I would say you need to be sure footed and the fitter the better. We hope to return in the wet season as Joe said it is even more beautiful. Thanks to Boon, Joe and our 'body guard' aka Kevin who spoilt us and made us a beautiful pair of bamboo cups.
We had a great time at the spicy villa, it was a great experience. We stayed there for 4 night with our 5 months old baby and our 3 years old girl.
The villa is located next to a road on a hill. There isn't a lot of room for the child to run around, but in general the camp is very hospitable.
Our guides, Mario and Foon were really great. Both of them made our stay pleasant and we felt very lucky to have them with us. They were extremely resourceful and helpful during trips and during our stay at the villa (including preparing french fries to our 3 year old girl that stopped eating the moment we got to Thailand).
Be prepared for very cold nights and sunny days if you are planning to go around February.
The Spicy Villa experience was absolutely amazing. Our guide, Kwanchai, is fantastic. He was very wise and kind. I learned so much about life in the jungle. It is an experience I look forward to repeating with my brothers.
The lodging was exactly as advertised. It is literally a bungalow with a bed and a bathroom. There is only cold water in your bungalow. If you want warm/hot water you will have to use the special rest area. I went in January, and it was very hot. I did not mind the cold water.
We scheduled a trek around the jungle, caring for the elephants, and (website hidden) was a bit lack lustre. You are pretty much an assistant to the staff. The trekking and elephant experience was great though. I highly recommend those 2 activities. The elephants seemed well cared for and obedient. The elephants responded well to their owners' verbal commands.
Staying at Spicy Villa was the most special time we had in Thailand. Samart went out of the way to ensure that our two families had an amazing time. The setting of the bungalows is stunning - overlooking locals looking after elephants, waterfalls and rural scenery. Samart had arranged a wonderful 2 days of activities - staying in a Karen Village, hiking, elephant riding and washing (awesome!), rafting and tubing. All so much less touristy than other places we saw. And the food was unbelievably delicious. Honestly the best we tasted anywhere!
2 days was not enough...
Samart and his staff are very friendly and accommodating. He arranged a perfect adventure for me to explore Northern Thailand. The beautiful landscape in the country is impressive. It is nice to know the money spent is also for good cause, which assist Samart with his quest to help the local poor children to obtain education. I liked it that the elephants we rode are elephants which really work in the rice field and not just for tourists. To bath the elephant is a wonderful experience. It was an intimate contact with this mythical creature. The cooking class is amazing. I am looking forward to some self made Thai food.
Coming from Bangkok, Spicy Villa was a breath of fresh air, nice people, good and varied meals, accommodation was simple, cosy and Clean in the room, the common area not so much, but this didnt spoil our stay. Not everything was finished, still a work in progress. But would recommend, for a different Thailand experience.

Grew up in the countryside, lived in Buddhist temple for 8 years as a novice monk then I went to university where I graduated in tourism management in 2002.
Along with my eco-lodges, I also operate an Eco-Tourism company, where I organize custom small and private group tours for outdoor activities off the beaten tracks, real village visits, local waterfalsl, bare back elephant riding, cooking by using bamboo in the jungle, healthy cycling and more. Ask for details!
I like outdoor activities such as trekking, hiking, cycling and off roading. I am very involved in local community projects and run an English teaching volunteer project as well for ethnic minority school kids.
