About this listing
The Chestnuts is a traditional guest house with loads of warmth and charm. Offering all the modern comforts but still keeping the character of a Victorian home. It is located in a quiet corner, a short walk from either Windermere or Bowness village.
The Chestnuts has seven very comfortable double bedrooms which all have en suite bathrooms. Two rooms have standard 5ft double beds, four rooms have 5ft four-poster bed and one room has a bed which can either be two single beds or a 6ft bed.
All our rooms are en suite, some with a bath as well as a shower. We provide hairdryers, TV with dvd player and tea/coffee making facilities in all rooms. Our four-poster rooms also have bath robes
We have a charming dining room which also has a small lounge area where guests are served complimentary tea/coffee on arrival.
Our breakfast is tailored to you, whether it be a full English, vegetarian or smoked salmon! Guests are given their own key so that they have access to the guest house and their room at all times.
Breakfast is served between 8.30 and 9.15am although earlier breakfasts can be arranged.

Many of our guests love that we are only a ten minute stroll to either Bowness village, which is by the lake, or Windermere village. Being located in the southern area of the Lake District National park we are only a short drive away from some of the most popular walks and attractions
There is a good public transport system as well as very good guided tour operators.
Windermere railway station is a fifteen minute walk from the guest house.
We have our own, on site, car park

Absolutely beautiful guesthouse. Location is perfect - 5minutes from Windermere station and a pleasant 15-20mins to Bowness. Heather made us very welcome, flexible on our arrival and the breakfast was delicious. The beds are ridiculously comfy, clean towels, chocolates on the pillows - all exactly as the photos show.
A tidy room in a nice location. only 12 mins walk from train station. Heather is so welcoming that she gave us a map and tips to walk around Windermere and Bowness, even breakfast is really good. Highly recommended.
Very well located and comfortable. We were made to feel welcome and the room was immaculate. Highly recommended.
Very nice place! Perfect location just between windermere and the lake! And we love the cozy clean and big double room! Highly recommend!
We had a very nice stay at Heathers B & B. The breakfast that she cooked every morning was amazing! Very good location and useful walking routes were left out for us to use. The only small problem was our room located at the top was quite noisy early in the morning as the boiler is very close! The room itself was very nice though with coffee and hot chocolate provided. Overall was a very nice couple of days and would happily stay again.

About the Host, Heather
I have lived in Windermere for over twenty years apart from a brief stay in London. Brief because I missed the colour green and clean air! We live in a beautiful part of the world and we try very hard not to take it for granted.
This is my third guest house and I have run The Chestnuts, with my partner Nigel, for over four years and we still enjoy it! The building was built in the late 1800's and we have tried to retain as many traditional features as possible.
I love walking my dogs, swimming and my new hobby - geocaching!
