Other Things to Note
Due to the Location on a point in Lake Champlain there is a Sulphur Smell in the fall when the Lake Level Pushes the Water Table very Low.
The water has been tested and this is not a health issue at all, the odor is mostly in the hot water and is not an issue until Mid to Late September thru Early November.
Usually if you run the Kitchen Hot Water for 3 minutes before using the shower most of the odor will be gone.
NO SMOKING IN The Building or on the Lake Front.
Our host Les was very nice and responsive. We arrived late in the day and he was very accommodating to my teenage daughters need to have a blow up bed to sleep in in lieu of sharing a bed. Teens! Also the DVD player didn't work so he replaced it with a new one.
The picture is somewhat deceiving in that the cabin is behind the main cabin, so you cannot see the dock unless you walk outside and around the other house. Plenty of outdoor water activities although we didn't have enough time to enjoy them.
Biggest concern was the smell of the sulfur water! It was awful and we did not shower or drink the water. Don't know if this is all the time? Perhaps not.
Les greeted us and showed us around. The cabin was nice - a short walk away from the lake. Aside from a dog barking, it was quiet and peaceful. We had a nice weekend.
The cabin was the perfect getaway for a quick weekend trip; Les was very accomodating and welcomed us with a tour of the cabin. The cabin was quaint and included all the amenties one would need for quality R&R at a reasonable price. Complete with your own grill, small patio, Netflix and wifi connection, our wants were also met.
Similar to other reviews, the water does have a strong sulfur smell however that seems like it would be par for the course for cabin-life by a lake.
Access to Lake Champlain was easy, literally a short walk from the cabin via a private sidewalk that led to the private dock. The dock was a bit worn, but quenched our thirst for the perfect sunset with wine in hand.
Finally, make sure you take Les' paddle boat out on the lake and put your calves to the test. Retire at night with some quality craft brews and dinner next to the lake-front firepit.
All in all, we highly recommend Les' cabin.
It is all about the lake, and this place is really close! The view isn't out the window but it is just outside the door. Access to canoe, etc is a real bonus. We enjoyed every minute of our visit. Oops almost forgot the subsets across the lake, Les should charge extra for sitting for those.
Les is very nice and so is his family we met. The cabin is perfect and Lake Champlain is becomes your backyard. There are plenty of kayaks, canoes and paddleboats you can use. We even brought our dog, he loved it too! Great getaway in a beautiful setting!
Les was great, nice and informative. The dog actually is a bit scary and an aggressive breed. We had a gnat issue the first night. They came right through the screen. Les has canoes and kayaks for us to use. That was awesome. Oh and the water in the shower works oppositely, so turn it cold for hot.
Me and my boyfriend wanted a weekend to relax, and LES' cabin was exactly what we needed. Nice, cosy, clean cabin, with direct access to Champlain Lake. There are 2 small state park walking distance from the cabin.
The cabin has Netflix to watch movies at night, and Les left us a couple of popcorn bags to snack on!!!
Plus, I could bring my dog!!
We loved it!!
