This was a fantastic experience. Jenny and Jerry are great people who made us feel welcome from beginning to end. The upstairs, where we stayed, is awesome, and we could not have felt more at home and at ease. Although we did see some great sites in the area, we stayed in a lot just to talk, eat, drink, etc. On every level, this is a class "A" place that anyone would be comfortable in.
The neighborhood seemed crowded, not what we are used to, being from the swamplands of south Georgia. However, it was equivalent to all surrounding neighborhoods and, in fact, the whole Durango area. The location of the house itself is fantastic, a very short walk to town and great eating places. Altogether a terrific once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Thank you Jenny, Jerry, and Airbnb.
Just returned from a 4 night stay at Jenny&Jerry's place in Durango. This is a wonderful apartment on the upper floor of their home. The downtown location is outstanding. The apartment description is accurate: off street parking with room for gear (bikes, waders/boots, etc), beautiful and well stocked kitchen/bathroom, comfortable bed and lounging spaces. Very private, but J&J are great hosts and always available with information about Durango. They also have delightful dogs.
J&J went out of their way to make us feel at home - and they succeeded. We are looking forward to a return visit to their place, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.
My husband and I spent a wonderful 4 days at Jenny's. The home is beautiful and relaxing, feels almost spa-like. Everything is walking distance and they are extremely helpful with close dining options!
Jenny made us feel like we were visiting friends we had not seen for a while, utterly comfortable going about our business and stopping by to chat at her office. The house itself exceeded all our expectations in size, decor, supplies, etc. It was gorgeous and a pleasure to be in .
My husband and I spent the most wonderful week in at the beautiful Marigold apartment located in Downtown Durango. First off, the location is perfect. Located on a quiet, lovely street just three blocks from the heart of main street. It was great to park the car at the Marigold and just walk to everything, coffee, restaurants, shopping, movies, historic train to Silverton, Animas river and walk. We were also able to walk to the beautiful town library and community recreation center.
The apartment was amazing. Jenny has an amazing decorators eye and everything was top drawer. From the beautiful furniture, to the wall color, the fixtures and furnishings were exquisite, the bed was incredibly comfortable and featured high quality pressed linens, the kitchen was wonderfully stocked and featured beautiful table ware and lovely table linens, as well. The entire apartment is beautifully lit will lovely views of the courtyard and gardens. The airport is very spacious and so different from staying in a hotel room. We enjoyed making our own breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen and often prepared our nightly appetizers to be taken outdoors to enjoy in the courtyard. The courtyard had a porch couch, four Adirondack chairs and umbrella and like everything else, was simply lovely. We often enjoyed our afternoon cocktail in the courtyard will listening to the train whistle blow and watch the quaking aspens. There was off street parking always available to us.
Host and Hostess
As beautiful and lovely as the accommodations were, the best part of our stay was Jenny and Jerry, your hosts. They have lived in Durango for over 10 years and were incredibly knowledgeable of what to do and where to go. The often advised us on the nightly dinner specials in town. They are both lovely and charming hosts. We so enjoyed getting to know them and they were so kind in making our stay with them the best possible experience we could imagine. We have some thoughts in moving to Durango and would love to include Jenny and Jerry among our first friends there.
We had recently lost our 15 year Shetland sheepdog. Jenny's engaging dogs were a special treat and a great comfort and joy to us as we were still missing our beloved family pet. We truly enjoyed them.
Both our college age sons live in Durango. Ryan is a mountain climbing & back country guide for San Juan Mountain Guides ((website hidden)) and attends Fort Lewis College. Matt is living in Durango for the summer and is a rafting guide for Mountain Waters Rafting ((website hidden)). Jenny and Jerry could not have been nicer to our sons who would visit us daily at the Marigold. Our sons were also very impressed with our accommodations. It was a perfect setting to enjoy their company each day.
I would write more, but am running out of space to say more. Simply stated, we loved, loved staying at the Marigold and would highly recommend it.
Had a wonderful weekend at Jenny's place. The accommodations are beautiful and she made us feel very welcome. Looking forward to another visit.
Jenny & Jerry are great hosts! The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is great for cooking & Jenny leaves nice tidbits for snacks. She really thinks of ways to delight her guests and make them comfortable. The neighborhood is close to downtown and quiet - Homeslice Pizza is just down at the corner! There's also a Durango Joe's and a nice little market a few blocks away. Will definitely stay again when I go to Durango!
About the Host, Jenny
We hope you'll love the Durango change of pace lifestyle as much and we do. Jerry and I defected to Durango from San Diego 10 years ago and never looked back. It has the perfect blend of mountain history, adventure and small town charm. Stop by my Rabbit Works Design Studio to discover inspired spaces and inspired living.
