There is a pay public parking garage next door, the Green Street Parking Garage: (website hidden)
What kind of interaction can I expect?
We've had guests we've gotten to know, who have hung out with us and joined us for dinner with friends. We've also had guests who wish to come and go with little interaction. We are flexible. Feel free to give us a sense of your schedule when you arrive.
What kind of noise level can I expect?
We live on a fairly busy city street, but the apartment is on the tenth floor so there can be some street noise but no one has ever complained.
What control do I have over heat/AC?
There are two controls in the apartment: one controls your space and the common areas of the apartment, and one controls our space. You are welcome to raise/lower the heat/AC to meet your needs (warning: the heat is pretty sensitive, and it can get pretty hot after a small adjustment!).
#1: Please communicate, communicate, communicate.
Don't be afraid to ask questions!
We are flexible and the apartment can be as well. Most likely, we'll be happy to accommodate your needs and you'll be happy in return!
#2. Please no smokers
#3. Please be respectful of our space, our belongings, and our neighbors.
The listing description was accurate. The neighborhood was cute with many shops nearby including bookstores, coffee shops and a 24 hr CVS/Pharmacy. The apartment was tidy and nicely decorated. The hosts were welcoming and even invited us to their barbeque. We were able to check-in early which was extremely helpful. Even though this a private room, we were able to utilize the kitchen, living room and rooftop patio (with an awesome view). The bed was very comfortable. Parking pass was available for use. They provided a list of recommendations of things to do and places to eat around the area. We appreciated the good communication from the hosts and they even warned us regarding a block party down the street.
The directions to their place were bang on (about a $25 cab ride from the Airport). Perfect location (two minute walk to the subway which is ideal for travelling around Boston) and the recommendations for places to eat were outstanding (we went to Border Café which we highly recommend). The bed was incredibly comfortable and the place was clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thanks guys!
Little contact, but very congenial and informative when necessary, which is probably what most seek in a host.
Our hosts were great and immediately let us feel right at home. We had our private room & a bath of our own PLUS access to their kitchen and living/dining room PLUS access to a large private balcony overlooking Central Square in Cambridge. The 10th floor view is fabulous.
We got everywhere by public transportation, including access to and from the airport, a huge plus. You don't want a car in Cambridge.
As city folk we were not fazed by the population density of the Square and the sometimes unsavory types encountered their but less seasoned travelers might be put off.
Also potential bookers should know the bed is a double not a queen, which larger travelers like us might find a challenge. Still, we'd go back in a heartbeat and consider ourselves lucky to have found a place so close to everything we want to do in Cambridge and close by.
We enjoyed our 3 night reunion weekend stay! The location is perfect, if you are not familiar with the area, Central Square is very convenient to go to downtown Boston with the T, and there is always a line of cabs waiting right across Mass Ave, CVS, Walgreen's, Starbucks all within 100 seconds' walk. Rory and Braidie made very smart arrangements for checking in and out hassle-free, the apartment is clean, welcoming, and has private access to a lovely rooftop. We had our bedroom as well as a private bathroom, which was very convenient - and the hosts (as well as previous AirBnBers) are sweet enough that the medicine cabinets are filled with essentials in case you forgot anything!! We would highly recommend and not hesitate to come back here next time we are in town.
