I'm finally Airbnb active & loving the experience! Feel free to ask any questions!
Stroll the beautiful Eastern Parkway, get a taste of the West Indies on Utica Avenue or jump on the 4 Train express into the city. It’s all right here in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. This renovated apartment is in a pre-war building only 4 blocks from the Utica Avenue subway stop (3/4 Trains). It's a classic urban apartment, but with lots of space and breathing room!
•It’s a large private BR available in a spacious 2 BR apartment w/ rooms on separate ends of the flat
•Your room has a queen size bed with fresh bedding and clean towels
•There’s a clothing rack, a desk, and enough room for yoga and stretching in the room
•A modern kitchen with microwave, toaster oven, gas stove and fridge
•Shared living room and bathroom
This is the heartbeat of the world famous West Indian Labor Day parade. It's rich with culture. Many languages can be heard on the short walk from the subway stop. There are a host of West Indian bakeries, eateries and markets along Utica Avenue. The neighborhood also includes a large Hasidic Jewish population so it's also sprinkled with delis and shops a few blocks over on Kingston Avenue. A few subway stops or a 20 minute walk and you're at the Brooklyn Museum, in another 7 minutes at the Central Library in Grand Army Plaza which is right across from Prospect Park which houses the bandshell, the farmer's market and a wonderful trail for jogging and cycling. It's great for artists and creatives or those wanting to have an authentic Brooklyn experience.
We are a couple of hard-working, creative professionals, a filmmaker and a writer/performer. I also work professionally as a consultant for organizations and corporations. He, a mature vegan and I, going vegan for the Winter. We meditate daily, practice yoga, and enjoy good music, but respect space and are advocates of good sleep. We are fun, but not party people who watch movies, love quinoa and curry lentil soup. Sometimes really busy with work and not home much, other times hosting brunch and trying new recipes.
Four Blocks for 4 Express & 3 Trains at the UTICA Ave stop on NYC Subway. 30 min to Union Square; 35 min to Grand Central Station or 34th Street Penn Station; Easy to get to Downtown, Harlem or the Bronx; Close to the 46 bus & many other lines, Dollar Vans, Street Parking, Close to Eastern Parkway--Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library and a quick train ride to Atlantic Avenue and Barclay’s Center. There’s also the Franklin Avenue shuttle which is easily reached via the ¾ Train. That shuttle transfers to the A/C lines which go straight to JFK Airport.
I've been in the city since July of 2000, lived in both Brooklyn and Manhattan so I can help with directions and know of other sources to get directions if I can't.

This our home. We welcome you. It's not a hotel or an Inn so we each help by cleaning up after ourselves. Please note that the cleaning fee is to cover cost and labor of cleaning prior to your arrival and after your departure.
Toni was a great host during my stay. She's very kind and respectful. The apartment was very spacious and very clean. If you're someone who cooks a lot like me I'd bring your own pots and pans. Location was great for me as it's close to the hospital I was working at. Also there's a gym 1 block away.
I only put 4 stars because I would say the experience as a whole was great, not "fantastic". Toni was a fantastic host though. Also, I'm not a city person, so I probably wouldn't even give 5 stars to the plaza hotel.
Toni is a wonderful, kind, knowledgeable spirit. I fully enjoyed my time at her beautiful, comfortable, large, clean apartment.
I had 2 large suitcases, a 3/4 suitcase and two pieces of hand luggage with me and the guest room was able to accommodate all of that while still giving me room to do my daily exercises/stretches.
This lovely apartment is a few blocks from a few train stops and located in a vibrant neighbourhood pickled with various choices in food, clothing and everyday amenities. I would definitely stay here again. In fact, if Toni wasn't booked up right after my check-out date, I would have stayed longer!
Staying with Toni was an amazing way to start my period in NYC! I rented her room while I was looking for an apartment to stay longer and it was such a good experience! Toni's house is cute, warm, very well decorated and super clean. She makes her house as her heaven and it is impossible do not feel comfortable there. Also the room is huge (yes, huuge!), cozy and has a wonderful bed that was responsible for keep me at home a few mornings just because I just couldn't leave it - it was sooooo comfortable! ;) Renting this room you'll have lots of privacy, at the same time, when Toni is at home is also amazing, because she is a really interesting person and we've had tons of good conversation. She is kind, polite and, believe me, her good energy is contagious! :)
We had a wonderful time with Toni. She was such a great host...a laid back and interesting lady. Would. Definitely stay here again, the area was multicultural and felt safe. Getting to Manhattan was easy, I liked the location a lot
Toni keeps a quiet and accommodating home. Great for people who wish to come and go with great autonomy. The neighborhood pulses with life. The apartment is spacious and warm and clean and all the little things you'd expect. I had a great 10 day stay. Thanks Toni!
Toni is an amazing host , full of energy and enthusiasm!! She goes out of her way to help her guests. It was my first time with airbnb, and I couldn't have had a better host than Toni. She helped me so much and made sure that I was comfortable and safe. Her apartment is truly beautiful with a lot of character. I loved that it was really clean, and it has something from all the countries she has travelled !! The best part about my stay was when I found out that she is a celebrity!!!! In spite of that, she is very humble and down to earth and a wonderful human being!!!! I would suggest her place to anyone !!!
I'm waiting for my photos to be approved and posted here, but in the meanwhile ---I've been to 32 different countries, have traveled extensively throughout Africa, toured Southeast Asia, spent time in Europe and in Brazil. I love all things creative. A raw food enthusiast, my passion also includes cooking healthy yet tasty food. I love music from Africa especially Senegal, Congo, Ivory Coast, Mali and South Africa. I also enjoy Caribbean and Brazilian grooves. A hip-hop head for life, I love good music so not a 'pop' fan even though I like some things that are popular. I love long walks, hot yoga and dancing. I can be quiet and so can my partner, but we love meaningful conversations about life, health, food, music and the environment. We're more likely to watch a documentary than a Hollywood flick--unless it's December when I catch up on commercial films. I must admit there are only 3 tv programs I love-- Scandal, Shark Tank & Oprah's Life Class. As a host or guest, I pay attention to the details. I like to make sure my guests are warm and comfortable. Cleanliness is important, as is, one's energy and the energy of the home. My feet are on the ground, but I'm a sensitive creative so 'vibes' matter. My motto: "Dream With Your Eyes Wide Open"
