LOVED SYLVIA'S PLACE! Very comfortable, nice neighbors. The #1 reason why I loved this place was that it was very easy and close to the Holland Tunnel! Only 10 min away from Manhattan!
Sylwia was an awesome host and the apartment was very clean and luxurious.
The house is very clean and cosy and s(phone number hidden)warm. Very good in these days of snow in NYC. There is everything needed to cook; what else to say more; ah yes, the bed is comfortable.
The connection to Jersey City is convenient by bus to Journal Square or direct to Newport with the light train; on these two spots you can catch the PATH to NYC.
Definitely a good adress for an affordable price in NYC.
We had a great time in NYC and NJ. Sylwias apartement was really nice. We had everything we needed. For two persons it is definitly big enough. And it was also warm!!!
Near to the apartement is a supermarket, a laundry, a pizzeria...And we had just 20 minutes to go to have a great view of the skyline of NYC.
The only thing we had problems with at first was the connectin to Manhattan with public means of transport. But when we found the right one it took 45 minutes to be directly in manhattan.
Because of the distance I wouldn't stay at THAT apartement again, but I could imagine to stay in another apartement of Sylwia because she was a great host. She answered all of my questions really fast and there were no problems with the key.
Overall, Sylwia's place was just as described It is roomy, comfortable and you have all the privacy you need. The bare minimum is available - there weren't any paper towels and the dish washing detergent was almost out. The floor needed to be swept and the bathroom needed to be cleaned. Make sure to take your own toiletries, cleaning supplies and if you're going to cook - any cooking supplies - she has cookware, plates and cups but not much more.
The neighborhood was not so bad this time (as police stayed parked near the corner store). It was difficult to get a peaceful sleep. The heating unit made strange noises all night as if it was spitting out liquids.
really good place, clean, calm area, and close to an interesting church with beautiful morning bell songs at 9AM. Some bus stop options around but not so good if you need go to a grocery store, for example. Some times we walked to the Path station (30 min), and some others we took a bus (15 min).
The apartment was pleasant and close to the Liberty Park light rail. Getting and returning the keys was easy and Sylwia's candles were a nice touch.
I would not stay here again. Pro: one of the lowest prices in the area, comfortable AC/heat, nice kitchen, tall shower, Sylwia seemed to respond to emails generally quickly. Con: sketchy neighborhood, neighbors playing "Who can rev our cars the loudest?" at midnight on Saturday, the towel left for me was wet, I needed to bring my own shampoo etc. Also, I had arranged with Sylwia to have a super-early checkin of 5:30am, which was very accommodating of her. I appreciated that very much since she was essentially giving me an extra half-night for free. I confirmed this with her over several emails leading up to my visit, including one just 16 hours before my arrival. But when I arrived (exhausted after an overnight flight), the bedroom door was closed; someone was sleeping inside! (It was probably Sylwia, but I didn't open the door or knock.) I just went to sleep out on the couch near the kitchen. That was not as restful as I was hoping.
Sylwia's place is cozy, spacious and comfortable. I ran into an issue with the heating unit and she was very responsive. Unfortunately, my stay was a bit cold because the unit could not be fixed during my stay (weekend). Like other guest reviews, make sure you have toiletries as none of that is available. I made a few special requests (pots and pans, cooking items) and she made sure I had them. She was very nice.
Things she cannot control - the neighborhood is not the best - it's loud and at times, feels unsafe. It wasn't always easy to find parking on the street.
