We had a nice mail contact to Anita and Andrea and Barry made us feel welcome. The view is spectacular and the outdoor area with the pool fantastic. But the kitchen wasn't very clean and needs a refreshment. The first floor is lovely. If you want to relax and want your privacy we recommend this beach house.
The location of this house is amazing and it does have spectacular views, that is what you pay for, the views.
The house itself, however , is not kept up to what is advertised on airbnb- we had a very disappointing experience. Lots of issues, here the biggest 3:
1. Safety and security: Inside the house, there were several electrical outlets with no covers, really scary traveling with a two year old. Rusted and dirty shower shelves and a non working fridge in the downstairs kitchen- lots of food spoiled after the first night.
Outside is beautiful, but the concrete floor is peeling off and is very slippery, we had two major accidents. Not what the pictures show, very unsafe.
2. Showers: even though there was running water, the shower heads are old and only "drip" we could never had a relaxing shower, very needed after a day in the sun and the sand.
3. Overall cleaning and maintenance, the pictures of the house are amazing on the site, unfortunately, it is not kept to the standard that is showed, no air-conditioning in the upstairs bedrooms, broken fans in bathrooms and bedrooms, non working kitchen appliances, and broken mirrors and lamps in bathrooms. You have to take garbage into town and pay to drop it off (not disclosed when you reserve)
Two of the 4 couples staying return to Merida a night before our check-out day, it was that bad, we wanted to do the same, but did not have another place to stay. We did not have the relaxing environment that is advertised. Thankfully, enjoying time with family makes up for everything, so we had fun and tried to make the best of the situation, food was great and the views and beach, are indeed spectacular and great, yet we felt cheated by the price we paid for the house.
Anita's house is as beautifully designed as pictured and was a wonderful meeting place for our two families with young children, with four spacious bedrooms and three baths! The neighbors Andrea and Barry who greeted us were very warm, even invited us to their Tequilla tasting party. The beach is one of the best in Mexico for collecting shells.
