So we arrived mid morning and we're delighted to find the Riad had sent a someone to pick us up from the airport. The driver was very pleasant and gave us a run down on the bedlam that is Marrakech. The beauty of this Riad is that it is in the Kasbah but the moment you step behind the big oak door, the noise and craziness, brilliant as it is, is left behind. The staff are incredibly helpful and the room was clean comfortable and a good size. The water was warm and the wifi worked. Breakfast in the courtyard was simple but there was loads of it. The bread and jam were like something else but Mint Tea and strong Coffee didn't hit the spot, but that's not the Riads fault!! They arranged an excursion for us at two thirds the price if we had booked it in the UK. And there was always someone there to offer advice and help, indeed I got the dreaded tummy bug, they bent over backwards to help us. The Riad is a 15 minute walk to the square and souk. I enjoyed the walk into town every day. You walk down the Main Street in the Kasbah and your in a different world. You can buy anything in that street and the cafes and snack bars are full of locals talking and chatting loudly from morning to night. The smell is amazing, with spices and cooking meat and baking bread all hitting you within the space of 50 feet. The traffic is also an experience. Don't be scared, Just keep walking, they will navigate around you.. Hopefully !!! The souk is an experience and huge, but it is annoying you can't really browse without entering into negotiation. Avoid the snake charmers, they will try and get you to take a photo and then demand money. I paid a third of what they were demanding and walked away. Fortunately they didn't come after me but it still cost me a little bit. Not massively impressed with the food tho but perhaps that's me. Finally the Riad Aida is a delightful friendly perfectly placed little B&B+ that I would recommend to anyone. I travel extensively in the UK and stay in hotels 2/3 a week and never pay less than £80 a night and get a damp breakfast and an even damper smile from most of the staff. Here, I paid £30 a night for a double inc taxes and Airbnb fee... Tremendous value and the added bonus of being made to feel special by all the staff. Highly recommend it, Marrakech and the wonderfully friendly Morrocan people.
A very nice place perfectly located in the city and with very pleasant people who welcomed us both at the airport and the Riat . We can highly recommend this place.
Riad Aida is just beautiful and looks exactly like the photos, if not better! It is tucked away down a little side street but luckily Aicha arranged a transfer for us from the Airport, so it was a fairly smooth arrival. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, also giving us some tips on places to see in the local area and cooking a lovely lunch and breakfast for us. The room was nicely decorated (a true Moroccan feel throughout), clean and comfortable. The Riad is only a 10 minute walk from the Main Square, so it really is great value for your money. I have already recommended this place to my friends and wouldn't hesitate in booking again the next time I visit Morocco! Thank you very much!
Beautiful Riad, most helpful and welcoming host Aicha and all her crew.
We had a great time at Riad Aida, they are very helpful and always available. I would recommend getting the transport from the airport, but it's not too far away so I would imagine a taxi ride would be cheap. It would have been hard to find without help however.
The breakfast was fine, good coffee, and we ordered the dinner the first night which was very helpful. The room was small but comfortable and functional, and they kept it clean. They do have the additional "tax" which adds up over a few nights and they charged 5 euro for a bottle of water which wasn't necessary.
Other than that the location was great. You are right next to the Saadien tombs and the Palace, which are worth a visit. It's a bit of a walk to the Souks but it's not too bad. I wouldn't recommend going to the Mellah, there's not much there and we somehow ended up with 30 euros of tea we didn't want to buy. The Jewish cemetery was pretty cool though. I would highly recommend a trip to the mountains with Morocco Explored.
