Interaction with Guests
When we're in Merida I try to meet all our guests and answer any questions they might have about the area, make recommendations and share resources.
Santa Ana has long been a favorite neighborhood for expats and locals alike. There are many inexpensive dining options and entertainment venues are very close by. A local fruit and vegetable market is held every morning, opening at 7:00 AM so visitors can enjoy the fresh tropical produce.
We also have several art galleries and museums within walking distance. Merida is known for its many cultural activities including music, visual arts, theater and dance events. There is something almost every night of the week....all within walking distance!
We'll give you a list of our favorite restaurants when you arrive as well as places to buy organic coffee and groceries, delicious chocolate and more.
The neighborhood has both cocina economicas where you can get a complete meal for around $3...and the new cantina "La Negrita," a favorite bar for both locals and expats. Located at the end of our block, they serve beer, cocktails, food and often have live music around 5PM. They close at 10:00 so no late night noise in the streets. Here, when you order drinks, you'll also get a selection of free botanas (little snacks), so a great place to enjoy late afternoon conversation and relax after a busy day of sightseeing in the city.
Local buses are located within a block and taxis are nearby. Most downtown destinations can be reached on foot. We are located 6 blocks from the Zocalo, Merida's central square and just 3 blocks from the start of thePaseo Montejo
If you need a taxi, our helper, Agustin can reserve one to pick you up at the house. His number is programed into the house cell phone in case you need to reach him or you can email him for assistance.
House is non-smoking so please only smoke in outdoor areas
...and although we love pets, the apartments cannot accomodate them
Pool is for downstairs apartment only. Upstairs has its own private roof terrace
Holidays...For stays less than 1 week, please add $25.00 to reservation to cover turnover during these busy times. There is no way to do this automatically on the airbnb site so we will make a note when we accept your reservation during these dates.
Please wash any dishes before leaving as food attracts ants!
Make sure all air conditioners and fans are turned off when you leave the apartment.
Bettye was a great host and very responsive. The apt was just as pictured and was spacious. We loved the neighborhood - easy to walk to everything, especially the local bar, La Negrita, which was a lot of fun.
We were met by Agustin who showed us round the flat and had prepared a map of Merida with a list of restaurants, what's on etc. which was very useful. Bettye always replied promptly to emails.
The flat is in a good location and it had everything we needed for our stay.
Staying at Casa in was avery good experience. The location is very central. We stayed i the downstairs unit, which has a beautiful garden!
Casa Linz is in an ideal location to explore the historic centre of Merida. The apartment was clean and very comfortable. Bettye and David were wonderful hosts. When we arrived they gave us information on restaurants, markets and things to do and see close by. Thank you Bettye and David for your hospitality.

Bettye and her husband are excellent hosts. The appartment is very nice and comfortable with a beautiful and quiet patio.
This is the perfect place to visit Merida as the “Zocalo“ with “Catedral San Ildefonso“ and “Paseo Montejo“ are only within five minutes walking distance.Don't miss “La Negrita“, a fancy old mexican bar vis-a-vis of the residence.

My husband and I live in Merida Mexico where we have both a duplex apartment and a large vacation home. We enjoy sharing our home with visitors and will be happy to introduce you to all that Merida has to offer. I'm still working on my Spanish skills but we have a wonderful local property manager who can assist with everything from tours to taxis when needed! Family is scattered all over so I like to travel...will also consider house swaps with our Merida properties.David is a professional photographer interested in capturing the many images of Mexico. I work with sustainable landscape design and enjoy visiting gardens wherever we may travel. We look forward to meeting hosts and welcoming guests throughout our airbnb network.
