Spacious walk-out basement apartment with private entrance. Beautiful farm and woodland setting 40 min North of Charleston and 30 min to Spencer. Easily accessed via I-79. We fully clean and sanitize between guests but cannot guarantee 24 hours between guests.

The space
We fully clean and sanitize between guests, in order to keep the booking cost low we cannot guarantee 24 hours between bookings. Pond and small stream on the property perfect for kids fishing or to practice your cast. Covered patio space with lawn furniture overlooks the meadow and our small orchard. Across the stream is a lovely large wooded area where you can watch wildlife or take a short hike when the water is low enough to cross. 2 bedrooms, private laundry room, a large living space and well supplied kitchen make this a great place to stay for a family or small group. DNR property at Walback lake with free shooting range, hiking and seasonable hunting and fishing 3 miles away. Summersville lake with boating and beaches is about 1 hour away and roughly 2 hours to skiing. Kanawha state forest is about 40 min away in Charleston with great family hiking. More intense hiking trails are about an hour away in the Monongahela National Forest and its surrounding areas. The Elk river has public access points in Clay and Clendenin (about 20 miles away) that are great for casual kayaking and fishing. Be sure to enjoy a pizza at Pizzas and Cream (15 min away) and check out the Buffalo Creek Ride the Rails in Clay, WV (20 min away). Both are unique experiences and tons of fun for the family.

Where you’ll be

Newton, West Virginia, United States

Though the interstate is nearby (visible and audible) this place can feel secluded and a bit like Wild Kingdom to those used to a more suburban environment. The 2.5 miles from the interstate is a curvy road that people from less mountainous areas will find a little hairy. Understand this is WV and even the interstate is curvy and crowded with wildlife.
