James Bay is the oldest residential neighborhood in Victoria, and is just south of downtown. There are many of Victoria's key tourism attractions in this area - including Parliament Buildings, Royal BC Museum, Beacon Hill Park, Fisherman's Wharf, horse-drawn carriages and waterfront walkways. The neighborhood has many heritage homes, including the home of artist Emily Carr. There are many interesting heritage walks that can be done in the area.
There is access to many bus routes and bus stops within a couple blocks from the house.
Most areas of the city can be accessed on foot.
Tatjana was very responsive to all emails and provided all information we required. The James Bay home is so very bright and spacious and the location is very convenient. There is great people watching from the windows although it is rather busy. The beds are actually very comfortable and the house is quite well stocked with most home comforts. We have two young children and it worked out very well in this house. This is an affordable, pleasant option for a family.
We really enjoyed staying at this house for four days. We came with our two children and were politely received by the tenant below who was responsible for our entry and exit. The door codes were arranged well in advance. It was all very easy. The house itself is exactly as listed: we thought it was a cozy character home that easily accommodated our family of four. The best thing though, was its proximity to the heart of beautiful Victoria. We walked everywhere we wanted to go, even with two relatively young children. We also had a parking stall for our rented car, which can be hard to get in the neighbourhood.
I really enjoyed the stay at this gorgeous home. It is in a quiet neighbor buy has an easy access to downtown, museum, and beacon park. I took my family there and everyone enjoyed the stay there. Highly recommend for families with young children.
The space is light and airy. Great location right behind the Parliament building and walking distance to everything. I appreciated all the spices available for our use, too ... not that I cooked while on vacation ... but nice touch in the event someone is so inclined. Also appreciated the yoga mat. Thank you.
This was our first time staying at a rent by owner property, so we were a little apprehensive. Our experience couldn't have been more positive – both with Airbnb and with this property in particular. Communication with the owners prior to arrival was prompt and helpful, and the property was accurate as described. We loved the location of this property, and appreciated having a parking space for our rental car.
Dustin and Tatjana were super and their home is wonderful. When we walked in the front door we immediately felt at home which was filled with such amazing (conversation provoking) art pieces. They are centrally located with easy walking to downtown, a grocery store and the park that runs along the beach. There were 4 of us in the house, but we never felt cramped. We really enjoyed cooking meals in the large kitchen and loved that there was a dining room table that seated all of us. Even though they were out of the country they took the time to answer all of our questions and with great knowledge. If you want rest and relaxation and the ease of exploring Victoria then this is were you want to stay.
