Enjoyed the apartment, it was clean and well presented. However, we were a little surprised at just how industrial the local area was - and the building. I know it says that on the website, but it is quite extreme. Any way, the friendliness and helpfulness of the host made up for any rough edges on the accommodation.
Coole Wohnung über einer Autogarage Nahe Kanal in Gowanus. Nächste aufstrebende Gegend zwischen Park Slope und Carroll Gardens. Moderne, geschmackvolle, farblich schöne Einrichtung. Room with view. Ute ist sehr sympathisch und hilft gerne bei Fragen weiter. Gerne wieder.
This is a lovely apartment that perfectly suited our space and location needs. Ute was a responsive and pleasant host who has put a lot of thought and care in to this apartment. It was light and sunny thanks to some big windows, was immaculately clean, nicely furnished and had a comfortable bed and great shower. And it was quiet at night, which was a huge bonus especially in a city like Brooklyn. The neighborhood was somewhat industrial in nature, but we liked that and felt it added to the charm. We did notice some exhaust-like smells during our stay due to the apartment's proximity to an auto repair place, but it was isolated to the weekdays and had more or less dissipated throughout the weekend. This might have been an anomaly as we didn't notice any other reviews mentioning it.
Ute, her boyfriend Joel, and her apartment were all unbelievably lovely! The apartment was in a conveniently situated location and the neighborhood has lots of gems in and around it! Ute was incredibly responsive and accommodating and seemed eager to help make our stay as seamless and pleasurable as possible. The only unforeseen circumstance was the apartment's location above an auto shop, which was noisy maybe two or three times during our 8 day stay (not in the early mornings, and it's only open Mon- Fri so not really an issue at all!).
I would recommend staying here to any and everyone, as you'll be surely taken care of and have the honor of staying in a stunning, bang-for-your-buck apartment! My boyfriend and I hope to return one day, as we feel we only just began exploring and becoming familiar with the surrounding area!
Danke Ute :)
Ute's loft is a great spot, and we immediately felt at home! The loft was spacious, clean, and felt warm during the cold season we were staying there.
The neighbourhood had such a great feel. The location was very close to the subway lines, making it very easy to get into Manhattan. Great eat out places at Park Slope or Carroll Gardens (both within walking distance), and when you feel like staying at home for some home cooked meals, the kitchen has more than you need, and the grocery places are close.
As a host, Ute was great. She was quick to respond to queries, and provided all the information we needed for our stay.
Overall, our stay was fantastic, and would not hesitate to stay here once more!
The loft is really lovely! Conveniently located near 2 subways (the closer is about 2 blocks, the furthest is 10min walking but near a wonderful breakfest place) and with plenty of space for a couple! The hot shower was a bless in the cold late november and the french press in the kitchen made our mornings more enjoyable. Also, loved the decoration! I would definitely stay there again.

I am originally from Germany and moved from Berlin to New York, working here in the arts for over 7 years now. I love the city, and Brooklyn is the best. I moved to Gowanus from Williamsburg for the variety of the different neighborhoods here (elegant residential and old school industrial without the massive crowds).
