About this listing
This 2 bedroom, 1 bath completely remodeled 1916 bungalow in the thriving NOBE/Longfellow/Temescal neighborhood of Oakland is ensconced in a California landscape of tea-tree, papyrus, bird-of-paradise, rose and lavender.
Gas oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker and all the pots, pans and supplies you might need to make a feast.
Enter into a light-filled dining room for six, and relax in the adjoining living room, with a 46” TV and a comfortable sectional (which can be an additional space to sleep), high ceilings and original oak floors. Continue on to enjoy a well-appointed kitchen, with granite counters, maple cabinets, fridge, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, french press, blender, toaster and all the pots/pans, utensils and dishware to suit any cook. You can find year-round farmers’ markets nearby on every day of the week.
The master bedroom in the back of the house features a queen-size bed, and opens onto a quiet garden and patio with flowering bushes and the shade of an avocado tree (let ripen to al dente and they are delicious). A second bedroom has a full size bed and a twin bunk above, and a private view of an apricot tree and blackberry vines hanging with fruit in the late summer.
Our house is two blocks from the MacArthur BART station, and two blocks from the thriving Telegraph Avenue, with stellar restaurants, cafés, galleries, fitness studios, organic ice cream and more. The walkable Temescal Sunday market provides not only local organic produce, but delicious food-truck meals to eat along the Temescal Creek. Seek out Temescal Alley, especially on First Fridays, when the art murmur brings street vendors, pop-up meals, local crafts and music into the streets.
Originally an Italian neighborhood, where many backyards grow century-old fruit trees, Longfellow/Temescal hosts the diversity of residents and families celebrated in Oakland communities, evident from the plethora of Asian, African and Latin restaurants, as well as contemporary California cuisine. Most houses are early twentieth century bungalows with unique detail.
Convenient from both Oakland and San Francisco International Airports - in 20 minutes you can be in downtown Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley or Emeryville (Pixar!), deep in the redwoods, enjoying a hilltop view of the entire Bay, or biking/running next to the water on the Bay trail, by the marinas. The area is easily explored by bicycle - down and around Lake Merritt for a boat ride, to the Oakland Museum, UC Berkeley, and even (halfway) across the new Bay Bridge. Centrally located to San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Wine Country, Beaches, you’ll find this house has the charm and character to provide a convenient respite while visiting our thriving city.
Guests will have access to the Backyard, entire home and free parking.

We love the convenient location, the quiet, neighborly feeling, the diverse cuisine and architecture and living amongst artists. The Neighborhood:
The Temescal/Longfellow neighborhood is a vibrant and rapidly growing neighborhood in Oakland “gourmet ghetto” with easy access to services.
The house is two blocks from the MacArthur BART station, a hub, as well as close to an entrance ramp to freeways in all directions, as well as quite walkable and bike-able. At the right time it is 13 minutes drive to downtown San Francisco, 10 minutes to either downtown Oakland or Berkeley and easy BART or bus to all. It is also within walking distance to fantastic restaurants with Korean, Ethiopian and California cuisine featured; Post Office, coffee shops, yoga studio, drugstore, etc. Everything you’d need is a short walk up Telegraph Avenue. Within 15 minutes drive you can be deep in the redwoods in Redwood or Tilden parks, 15 minutes to the Bay and Marinas.
