Namaste Farms is a working wool sheep farm located in the heart of Temecula's wine country at the head of Temecula's wine trail. The main cottage has an upscale feel with a loft bed, kitchenette, fire pit and more. NF's has a rural feel (with animals just steps from your cottage) while being very close to Temecula Pkwy, wineries, Galway Downs, California Ranch Company and Temecula city limits. The Main cottage can accommodate up to 4 with the loft and extra bed. We have other stays too. 501c3
The space
Know, you are supporting a 501c3, and being here is an educational experience. We love to share our farm with guests and are so happy you’re here to relax, learn and enjoy! Namaste Farms is a true working farm with copious amounts of sheep, goats, chickens, peafowl, and countless other animals. Along with those, we have free range squirrels, rabbits, flies, dust and yes, even free range spiders. If you're wanting a rustic experience that gives you a break from city life and you can handle dust, dirt, cobwebs (and these can happen over night inside your cottage and WILL be in the common areas), with sounds of animals vocalizing at all hours of the day and night, then Namaste Farms is a perfect fit for you. While most guests (and your hosts) see the idiosyncrasies and obvious cohabitation with animals and bugs beautiful, you may not. If your primary focus is on amenities, and you're looking for a completely dust/dirt, cobweb/bug, and animal/animal sound free experience, a working farm is probably not a good fit for you. This listing does have a loft bed with a ladder, but we have a second bed downstairs which is easily accessible.
We are dog friendly, but to keep our free range animals safe (and we have had them injured or killed by people not recognizing that dogs are predatory by nature), please keep your dog easily under control and on a short leash at all times. Also, because it's not possible to control your dog on a long line, dogs may NOT be tied or tethered anywhere on the property. Please, for the sake of the antique furniture and the hand crafted front door, do not leave your dog alone in the cottage unless they are crate trained and in a crate. If you MUST leave your dog here, on occasion, we may have a bedded stall for your NON incessant barking four legged friend. If you want to let your dog off leash, off our property and 2 blocks down our dirt road, there is a large scrub field where you can let your dog run free.
This booking is for the Main cottage, and while it's only 1/2 a mile from the city limits, it has a rural feel and is centrally located to all wineries and most of the major equestrian facilities including Galway Downs, Green Acres, and California Ranch Company. For those who are coming to Temecula for horse shows, we also have a large barn with bedded stalls and turnouts (for an additional fee). There are designated horse trails right outside our gates which will even take you to Galway Downs. If you're into golf, you can enjoy Temecula's 7 PGA golf courses or Pechanga Casino which are also within a short driving distance to the farm. If horses or golf isn't your thing, you can visit Temecula Valley wineries which are all ~ 1/2-3.8 miles of the cottage gates. The wineries are not within walking distance of each other, but if you want to peruse all of them, we can arrange a driver for you (28.00/hour) who will drive (Audi or Mercedes) and take you anywhere within Temecula/Murrieta while happily waiting for you so you can quickly go to your next destination. If you don't want a driver, UBER is only too happy to come here and pick you up! If you're not interested in any activities and simply want a "staycation," you can hang out here where you're welcomed to walk around the farm and interact with the animals. At night, enjoy the sounds of serenity while roasting marshmallows at our wine barrel fire pit!
The main cabin is upscale and comfortable with a rustic bathroom and a kitchenette.
We encourage guests to feel at home and enjoy the peaceful farm environment which extends beyond the cottage. If you have more guests in your group, please check out the Hay Barn cabin and Hammie in a separate listing. We also have a beautiful Treehouse for a glamping experience. Join us for a camping/glamping experience in a chic and upscale way!
Please keep in mind that we are not a "pretend farm" set up so that we can attract people to our facility. This is an actual working farm where shepherdess, Natalie Redding (Nat Geo Wild's, Shear Madness) and her working dogs, Bow, Lad and Tinch who work every day. This means there is dirt, dust, chickens, peacocks, alfalfa, sheep, bugs, and other living beings associated with nature and farm life. People who've not had the opportunity to experience the beautiful and grounding life on a working farm may not understand this. I do stress that if you're an animal lover who is excited about staying at a true working farm, your co-guests may not share your verve. Please let them know there is dirt, dust, very little concrete or pavement, and they will surely leave with dust on their shoes. That said, I'm a frequent Louboutin wearer and I regularly chassé in my stilettos; dirt ground and all.
We welcome you and hope you choose to stay with us. Working Sheepdog Experience or Namaste Farms Working Sheep Farm Experience, we can schedule a time if one doesn’t work for you!
Guest access
This is self check so you just go to your space. Also, have free access to the working farm. You may roam around and look at the animals, feed the horses carrots, and bring treats for the sheep. While rare, on occasion free access won't be available.
Other things to note
You do have a short trip down a dirt road. The road, while hard packed and maintained is bumpy. Because this is a farm, there is plenty of dirt and dust. As with any working farm, our facility is not paved. Please plan on your shoes being dusty...
Also, if you're booking for yourself and other guests, PLEASE let them read the description before booking. While you may love the idea of coming to a farm with dirt, animals and bugs, others may not. Simply explaining to family members or friends that you're "so excited" to have booked a farm isn't enough to make them fully understand what "a farm " means. While those accompanying you may be excited to come here based on your level of enthusiasm, the reality of a working farm may simply be too primitive for them. To insure an enjoyable experience, share this link and get approval from co-guests first.
