Come and enjoy our country retreat with breathtaking mountain and valley views. This expanded 1770 farmhouse gives you 4,500 sq. ft. of space for large family and friends get togethers. The house overlooks the Green River Valley and at the end of a dirt road provides a quiet escape with views and vistas that are constantly changing through the seasons.

The space
Some updates: We have high speed internet now 300 mbps. With numerous work spaces in the house working remotely from here is easy. Also, we have a no dog policy but sometimes wave this. Tell us about your dog.

This 1770's cape-style farmhouse has been transformed into to a 4500-square foot designer home, with exposed beams, an open plan living approach and a unique character. Walk through the door into a large open plan kitchen/living space with a chef's kitchen including a Viking 5 burner range and every professional cook's equipment list in the cupboards.

A kitchen dining area joins the bright family room, and a long wall of French doors lets you enjoy the outside all season round. Spring through fall the ever changing gardens will delight you. Pick some flowers for your evening dinner. There is Dish TV and and high speed internet (300 mbps) to keep you connected with the world.

Step back in time as you move into the original 1770 restored dining room with its huge hearth and bread ovens. Going through the next door you are in spacious Living Room an 1840 room where restoration was not the goal. It's spacious doors and windows bring the outside into you as you relax on the large L shaped couch. It is one of the most magical rooms in the house.

Through a large double door to the east you have a huge view of the Connecticut River Valley. Large glass windows and doors to the east look out to the trunk of the 200 year old maple which shades the house.

From here step out onto the Double Decker Decadent Deck where you can have cocktails and meals as you enjoy the views and vistas.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor, one en suite. Upstairs there are four additional bedrooms and another bathroom including the Vista Room, the master bedroom with 180 degree views of the valley and Vermont. There is an additional full bath with shower downstairs.

There is an indoor cedar hot tub room always at 104 degrees ready for you without notice.

The house is surrounded by decks, porches and patios to enjoy an evening drink or dinner with unsurpassed views. The patio features a gorgeous swimming pool with spa that is open approximately from May 1 through October 30.

There are several Weber charcoal grills and a fire pit for evening fires under the stars. The house is kid friendly with toys for all ages, from blocks and a dollhouse to an X-Box.

This is a home of creatives, and as such, the space is filled with original art and sculptures. We love to share our passions for art sharing our collection with our guests. There is a special creative vibe generated by this house and the land.

The oversized house will fit to your needs be it family or friend gatherings or a secluded respite. From the large open family room to the hammock under the 200 year old maple tree there is a place to match your mood.

Where you’ll be

Colrain, Massachusetts, United States

Colrain is a rural village in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. It's a secret slice of western Massachusetts hidden in the rolling hills, secluded and peaceful, but the larger town of Greenfield is only a 12 minute drive away. Greenfield has a great natural foods co-op, lots of live music and a performance venue with shows most weekend nights, and several delicious restaurants (a local brewery, a wood fire pizza place, an Indian restaurant, a great Chinese restaurant and a new American spot with locally sourced ingredients, among others). Northampton, MA and the five college- area is only 25 miles south along Route 91S and offers even more opportunities for culinary and cultural experiences. We provide a list of our favorite tried and tested restaurants of the area for our guests. There are so many activities to choose from, from zip-lining to snow rollercoasters to Berkshire East Ski resort, to hayrides and swap meets, festivals, shows and museums; there is something for everyone to enjoy! You like to go antiquing? Just talk to Becca about her favorite spots! Local auctions every Friday night add a wonderful fun event to a w/e stay. The new casino in Springfield offers gambling and nightlife.

I am an international television producer making shows focussed on Russia. Also, I am a wood sculptor, my pieces are spread around the house. The house has been one of my avocations, starting with a 1700 square foot cape it has expanded into the 4500 square foot country house. When I have renters I stay next door in the 1740 cottage and am available to help make your stay both comfortable and enjoyable.
