This was a great little room in the student housing of the Vrije University, located just across the border in Amstelveen. Stefania was out of town, and lent me her bike to get around. The place is very close to a tram stop, and has easy access to the city center and the airport. The other residents of the flat, students from across Europe, were friendly and hospitable, and the large kitchen made cooking on my own to save money easy. The room also has a small refrigerator, a couch, a television, and a small balcony. The bed is small but comfortable, and right next to the radiator so also warm. My phone did not pick up the internet well in the room, but in the kitchen/living room it was fine. Stefania was very accommodating with logistics and arrangements.
There isn't a ton to do in the immediate area, though it's a short walk to a bakery, grocery store, bike shop, etc. There is a pub within a ten minute walk called 1890 that I would recommend checking out at least once, but nowhere to pop out for a quick drink as you might in the Jordaan or something. But with this comes quiet, and much less expense. With the tram so close it's very convenient to the center, and the bike route is a straight shot north to the Vondelpark/Museumplein area or a winding route along the Amstel to De Pijp and the center/Niewemarkt area. I never explored Amstelveen, but to the east it becomes quite pastoral and beautiful, and you could easily ride to Utrecht.
One note: If you are more than 1.75 meters/ 5' 10" tall, you might find Stefania's bike a bit small, but still quite serviceable :)
Stefania is a wonderful person, and an extremely helpful host! She made my stay in Amsterdam easy and fun, with maps and information, a fabulous space in the dormitory with students from all over the world, and a kind and generous spirit. She even loaned me her coat when it turned cold! I recommend her highly. The place is indeed cozy!
Stefania is really the perfect host. Her room, even if it is little, is clean and ordered. She is always kind and very sweet for any kind of problem or enquire. Moreover the house is 5minutes from the metro and this is very confortable. The last thing, if you are alone, This place is very safe also in the night!
At the end i really recommend it!
Stefania's room is small but served the purpose of a place to sleep very well. I was not there all that much but the (website hidden) were friendly and helpful. Internet access was not great as I only had a phone and tablet. I had to ask around to be able to connect to a wireless network. A computer could be plugged in to internet in the room.
The building is very close to a tram/metro stop with easy access to Amsterdam Central. Not far from the airport. There is also plenty of space for bike parking if you rent or borrow a bike during your stay.
I spent 1 month and a half at Stefania's place and overall I had a fantastic time there! The room is part of a student-house: it is located just outside Amsterdam in a beautiful green and peaceful area called Uilenstede but you need only 20 minutes to reach the city centre (the tram and metro station are almost in front of the building as well as a supermarket were you could go shopping). The room and all the shared areas were clean and comfortable. Stefania was a lovely host! Unfortunately we couldn't spend a lot of time together but she was so nice! She helped me a lot, with all the useful information and anything I could need during my staying. She even organized a BBQ with all the other students the night I arrived and let me use her bike :) As a conclusion: a 100% recommended place! Stefania: once again thanks for everything! :) I hope I'll see you soon – hopefully in Amsterdam!! ;)
Stefania was very helpful in getting me setup in the place. Easy access to public transit. Room is in the student residences of Vrije University.
I stayed at Stefania's place in Amsterdam for one night. It is close to University, not too far from Metro/ Tram and the room was nice with single bed. Stefania was nice and friendly and she didn't have a problem with check-in and check-out timings. I would recommend to anyone to stay here.
