I moved in to this apartment just couple months ago and got all new furniture. I wasn't sure about renting my room while I am away because of that but I decided to give it a try. Apartment is very spacious and with lot of light. Every room has very nice big windows. The only bad thing is that we don't have elevator and the apartment is on 4th floor. But that could be nice quick work out! :)
Long Island city is pretty new neighborhood. Before I moved here I didn't have very high expectations honestly. I picked it because location is so convenient. But it turned out this neighborhood is absolutely amazing with pretty much everything you need. My favorite part is beautiful view of Manhattan and enjoyable walks by the river. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants around (with prices lower than in Manhattan) :) Supermarket and few delis are minute away from apartment. In case you get hungry in the middle of the night one of the best diners in the city (Court square diner) is few minutes walk from the place.
Subway stop is literary across the street from building and with those lines you can get pretty much anywhere in the city. First stop in Manhattan is just couple minutes away. There is G train couple minutes away from the apartment which you can use to get to very cool neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
Mi casa es su casa. ;) So you can use kitchen (which is fully equipped), hang out in living room, watch tv (I have cable, Netflix, Apple TV). I'm not often at home but if I'm around, I will be happy to chat with you and give you recommendations on what to do, where to eat etc.
Interaction with Guests
I will interact with you as much as you want that. I'm very sociable and love meeting new people, but if you don't want to talk and need your privacy, I will respect that!
Other Things to Note
I will explain here little more about how to get to my place from main airports and train/bus stops
JFK - from terminal, take air train towards Jamaica (not Howard beach) and get off on last stop. From there take E train, towards Manhattan. My stop is Court square - 23rd street. If it's day time and train runs express it's only 25 minutes ride. Also when you get off the train look for 21st street exit. That's close to the first car of train. And just across the street is my building.
La Guardia airport - best thing to do is take taxi, it won't be expensive because it's short ride. It would take about 15 minutes.
Newark airport - honestly I've never traveled to that airport so I'm not sure how long does it take. But from the airport you will take train to Penn station in Manhattan and from there look for E train, queens bound. And get off on stop Court sq - 23rd street. My building is on 21st street so look for that exit. M
Penn station and Port Authority bus station - both of these have connection to subway. So E train from there towards Queens and get off on Court square -23rd street. Ride is 10 to 15 minutes.
No smoking and walking around in shoes, please! ;)
This listing was as described. We found the location very convenient for heading into midtown Manhattan. The neighbourhood had several amenities: a grocery store right across the street, the subway exit across from the building, lots of breakfast places handy. The room was clean and private from the rest of the apartment, off the kitchen. We barely saw our host since we were leaving early every day and coming back at night while she was out. All and all an excellent experience. The only thing to mention is that the street noise and subway vibrations were pretty noticeable at night so bring your earplugs. This is not a place for light sleepers!
Jovana and her sister are very kind and welcoming. The place is very clean and comfortable, the subway station is just in front of the house. Manhattan is just 10 minutes away, so I would definitely recommend Jovana's house to anyone who's looking for a strategic location. Moreover, the atmosphere is warm, the bed is very comfortable and the skyline from the window is simply great. We had a wonderful experience!
Jovana was a great host, and we enjoyed staying in her cozy apartment. The subway station (Court Sq.) is right across the street and the E,V and 7 trains get you easily into Manhattan. There's a small breakfast diner on the other side of the street, where we had breakfast during our stay.
Jovana's apartment is nice and clean and well lit. The room in which we stayed is not too big, but it easily accommodates two people.
I would definitely come back for another stay:)
The location really was amazing. Manhatten is only a few minutes away by metro. We and Jovana however werent around much so we didnt get to know eachother. The room was okay, big comfy bed but thats about it. She did however have other people sleep over and after making cookies the whole apartment smelled for days and there are some bugs in the bathroom every now and then.
Jovana's place is awesome. About $20-$25 cab ride from LaGuardia, with an E train right across the street (maybe 50 steps) from the front door of her building.
The bed is big and comfortable and the room is clean. She provides sheets, pillows, and towels.
I feel like some other reviews have downplayed the street noise. Make no mistake, there is traffic and there are people and it is extremely loud. That being said, after a long day in the city, we were less affected by it than the first night we arrived.
As we were driving away my husband commented that when we are in the city again we should definitely stay with Jovana.
Her location and hospitality can't be beat.
Jovana and her sister were great hosts. Everything was clean, and I had everything I needed (including a desk, wifi, and hangers). There is some street noise, but that seems to be pretty standard for NY. The apartment is about a 1 min walk from the subway, and it's only one stop into manhattan. I found it exceedingly convenient, and Jovana lent me her umbrella on wet days. :)
Overall a great experience. Thanks, girls!
Hi, my name is Jovana. I'm from Montenegro but temporary located in NYC. I've studied Spanish language and hispanic literatures, on Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. One of the reasons I decided to move to NY is because you have opportunity to meet people from all over the world get to know about different cultures..
