About This Listing
Get to know Chicago by jumping off from a Classic Logan Square Bungalow. My 100+ year old home is a great place to explore the city from the coolest neighborhood in town. And I will give you tips to see/ do/ eat the best Chicago has to offer.
The house was built in 1908 and has all of the charm of an old home, but with all of the modern conveniences of today (wireless internet, AC, television, etc). The guest room is comfortable with a double bed, dresser, mirror, ceiling fan, a window air conditioning unit (summer months only), two chairs, cd player, record player (on request) and a storage rack for hanging clothes. I provide current issues of the Chicago Reader for the curious traveler. There is a washer/ dryer in the basement and a kitchen is available. The kitchen was completely remodeled in September 2011 and was voted as a finalist in the 2012 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Awards presented by the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association. The first floor bath was also remodeled in January of 2012 and a brand new second floor bathroom was added in the spring of 2014.
You will have full access to most of the house. Including sun room, back yard, kitchen and washer and dryer. Breakfast will not be offered in house, but I do provide gift cards to New Wave Coffee. A funky neighborhood coffee shop that provides great coffee, tea and breakfast options. New Wave is a short three block walk from my place.

My place is located in the greatest part of Logan Square. Logan Square is a dynamic neighborhood where tons of great things happen. Short walks to the Centennial Monument, Lula Cafe, The Logan Square Farmers Markets (summer and winter), Longman and Eagle, The Owl, Palmer Square, Parts and Labor, Wolfbait and B Girls, The Logan Square Auditorium, Jam, The Congress Theater, Revolution Brewing, Boulevard Bike Shop, The Rocking Horse, The Whistler, shopping, art, parks and everything else Logan Square has to offer.
The house is located near many modes of transportation. It’s just a seven minute walk to the Logan Square train stop on the Blue Line or a ten minute walk to the California Blue Line stop. The #74 Fullerton bus stop is a three minute walk and the #56 Milwaukee bus stop is two minutes away. Zipcar and IGo pickup locations are very close as is the Kennedy expressway. There is also easy, safe, permit-free parking on the street. You can usually find a spot directly in front.

My wife and I had the first our experience with BnB and we are very happy to start with Mark's home. Mark is a great host and he told us a lot of information about the see to sights of Chicago (museums, park, buildings, cruise on the river,...). He is very polite and his house is clean and tastefully decorated. The bathroom to use only for guest (next the bedroom and the bedroom is exactly like you see in the picture), is big and clean and the shower is fantastic. Logan Square is a nice place with a lot of young people and with pubs and restaurants. For the breakfast, Mark gave us 2 card for the Coffe near to home (2 minutes walking) where we ate the best brioche (muffin) that we found and tasted until now in USA. He was always available to sms or call but he was never intrusive. I have a light sleep but I did not have any problems to sleep. So, we recommend absolutely this host and if we will return to Chicago, we would like to stay others days in Mark's home. Thanks Mark!
We had a wonderful stay in Mark's beautiful home. The room looked exactly like the pictures, the house was impeccable, and the new upstairs bathroom was elegant, clean and beautiful. Like everyone else said, Mark is a great host. He knows a lot about Chicago and was able to give us tons of tips about restaurants and bars, where to go for music and culture, which museums to check out,... He was always available to text or call but was never intrusive. A perfect Airbnb experience.
After reading previous reviews I wondered what made Mark’s guests return to stay with him…now I know. It was super easy communicating with Mark right from the start. He was quick to respond to all my queries, which was of immense help while planning the trip. Even though he was away for the first few days of our stay he constantly checked up on us to ensure we were comfortable. He left contact numbers of his friends who were available if we needed them. The detailed check-in instructions he left made it easy for us to manage without any difficulty. The house is just like it appears in the photos, warm and luxurious. Every room is spotless and so well maintained. This is rare for a home that is over 100 years old. So tastefully done, so much culture imbibed in the décor in each room. The guest bedroom is nice and cozy, yet provided sufficient space for storage during our 8-night stay. His generous gesture of leaving “New Wave” coffee cards on the dresser (loaded with $10 credit each) was a fantastic way to introduce guests to the hip neighborhood coffee shop. I highly recommend it too. They serve delicious coffee in a very relaxed and casual ambiance. The music setup in the guest bedroom includes a choice of records and is a lovely touch too. The bathroom is the real highlight, brand spanking new, modern and luxurious. The lightly scented but super fluffy towels were quite the treat too! The kitchen is truly deserving of the recognition it received from the Historic Chicago Bungalow association. Since I aim to cook most meals when on vacation, having access to a fantastically equipped kitchen was very important to me. I not only enjoyed cooking every meal but also did so with so much ease. I was delighted to be able to use the kitchen extensively during my stay. Call me weird but it was one of the highlights of my trip…waking up lazily and cooking brunch in this awesome kitchen. Made me feel like a celebrity chef! The house is conveniently located from the CTA blue line station hence it made commuting hassle free. Especially since the blue line serves O’Hare international airport and is only a few stops away. Chicago being an Uber friendly city made it easy for us to get home after a long day of shopping and exploring the city. The neighborhood is amazing with a laid-back vibe in addition to being a clean, safe and quiet place to live. We had many great conversations over dinner with Mark. Even after a full day at work, he would make it a point to catch up with us and ask us about our day. He always had loads of recommendations based on our interests and it is amazing how many friends he has in the Logan Square community. He gave us some fantastic recommendations for places to visit like local breweries and restaurants around the neighborhood. The...
The host was wonderful. He was waiting for us when we arrived. The place did not have a spec of dust anywhere and was very neat. The bathroom has nice large shower. It is a 10 minute walk to the Logan Square. I definitely will stay again when we I go to Chicago again. Thanks Mark for making it our Chicago trip wonderful!
The Classic Logan Square Bungalow hosted by Mark Diserio was fantastic. Mark is very personable and did his best to make sure I was comfortable. The location to public transportation can't be beat, and the neighborhood has a variety of interesting spots to eat and drink. I would definitely book Mark's space again. The house is beautiful, comfortable and very clean. And Mark is the perfect host. Loved it!
Another 5 star review for Mark and his place. Short and sweet: this is an exceptional place and a great value - save your time searching and stay here.
I searched far and wide for listings. Next time in Chicago I'll come straight to Mark. He has a super comfortable place that is immaculately clean (an important piece for me). The new bathroom adjacent to bedroom is exceptional. Location is very convenient to train and Mark is a great resource for information. A stand up guy and a first class place.
