Classic Chicago-style bungalow located in the greatest part of Logan Square. Short walks to the Centennial Monument, Lula Cafe, The Logan Square Farmers Markets (summer and winter), Longman and Eagle, The Owl, Palmer Square, The Logan Square Auditorium, Jam, The Congress Theater, Revolution Brewing, Boulevard Bike Shop, The Rocking Horse, The Whistler, shopping, art, parks and everything else Logan Square has to offer.
The house is conveniently located near many modes of transportation. It’s just a seven minute walk to the Logan Square train stop on the Blue Line or a ten minute walk to the California Blue Line stop. The #74 Fullerton bus stop is a three minute walk and the #56 Milwaukee bus stop is two minutes away. Zipcar and IGo pickup locations are very close as is the Kennedy expressway. There is also easy, safe, permit-free parking on the street. You can usually find a spot directly in front.
The house was built in 1908 and has all of the charm of an old home, but with all of the modern conveniences of today (wireless internet, AC, television, etc). The guest room is comfortable with a double bed, dresser, mirror, ceiling fan, a window air conditioning unit (summer months only), two chairs, cd player and a storage rack for hanging clothes. I provide Time Out Chicago magazine and current issues of the Chicago Reader for the curious traveler. There is a washer/ dryer in the basement and a kitchen is available. The kitchen was completely remodeled in September 2011 and was voted as a finalist in the 2012 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Awards presented by the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association. The bathroom was also remodeled in January of 2012.
Breakfast will not be offered in house, but I do provide a $10 gift card/ token (per night) to New Wave Coffee or Gaslight Coffee Roasters (your choice). Both are great little neighborhood coffee shops that provide great coffee, tea and breakfast options. They are both located a short three blocks walk from my place.
I have been a resident of Chicago since 1995 and a proud resident of the Logan Square neighborhood since 2000. I am an avid traveler and I love to provide insightful information and tips to fellow travelers.

In my opinion this is truly what a bed-and-breakfast should be. The room is clean there are extra amenities and Mark is very personable. I will always stay there when I'm in Chicago.
Had a wonderful stay at Mark's. It's a great Logan Square location and the bungalow is tastefully remodelled to provide all contemporary convenience and style while retaining original charm. The bed is very comfortable. I really appreciated the little touches like the water bottles and gift cards to breakfasts at delicious cafes nearby. Mark was called away on a business trip just before I arrived but he checked in regularly to make sure all my needs were met, arranged for someone to shovel snow from the walk and was available to answer all my questions. Note that the stairs to the second floor are steeper than code, the guest bedroom and bathroom are on two different floors and the bathtub doesn't work though the shower is great.
Mark was a great host! Very hospitable, accommodating and respectful - got a chance to grab a drink with him one day and had some great conversation. Logan Square is a great area and his place is centrally located to restaurants, bars and shops if you're not feeling like venturing far from home, but the Blue Line is also just across the square. Great overall experience for my first solo trip to Chicago,!
Mark is real chill and has so many cool pieces of art around. The place is spotless and he is full of suggestions for things to do in Logan Square. It was a great stay!
Awesome location and terrific host. Mark hooked me up with last minute Built to Spill tickets and even got me a ride to the show. Close to the Blue Line so OHare and downtown are within easy reach. Will definitely be back.
There's not much I can say about Mark and his place that hasn't already been expressed by others: he's super hospitable and communicative, and the house and room are great. Someone mentioned train noise; if you live in a city anywhere it's completely inconsequential—I didn't even realize it existed until I looked out the window and saw it blast by in the distance. And of course, Logan Square is a great neighborhood to spend some time in.
We stayed at Mark's house for 3 nights during a rock festival in Humboldt park, just South of Logan Square.
His place was an awesome base of operations during our first trip to Chicago- the neighborhood is charming, there are a ton of great local eateries, and his place is extremely clean and cozy.
Mark's style of hosting was the best part about our first AirBnB experience. He truly made us feel at home- offering us coffee, fresh pineapple, and great advice on local spots to check out.
Can't wait to stay with Mark on our next visit!
I returned to Mark's place for a 6 night say in July of this year. This really is the best location for being central to everything that Chicago has to offer (and the transit options to get there), but with enough to do in the neighborhood that I was able to spend time with some local friends close to my "home", as it were.
General location aside, the house, and the guest room, are both beautifully appointed. Mark obviously carefully curates the items that make their way into his home, with much attention being given to theme and detail, and this makes for an interesting aside when you stop to peek at these collections.
Beyond the location, and the space, is the man himself. As previously stated, this was my second time staying at Mark's and I could not have been more pleased. My visit started wonderfully with an in-person pick up at Midway because I happened to be arriving right around the time Mark gets off work at a nearby location, and on the drive to the house, was treated to a condensed/localized "Chicago history" lesson, as well as an update on all of the things that were happening around Chicago during my stay. He really is a great guy with a generous personality, and he is very much engaged with his community and the city overall.
I would not hesitate to recommend Mark's space to anyone visiting Chicago. I may be back, or... maybe my trips have now sold me on a more permanent move, in which case, I hope to at least go out and grab a beer with Mark once I am back in town.
Nice place. Friendly host! A great location for us visiting our daughter in Logan Square. Highly recommend Mark as a host.
It was my first airbnb and I highly recommend Mark's place if you're going to Chicago! He was a great host - friendly but not intrusive. His house was in a great location, nicely decorated and very comfortable. He was very informative about things to do and answered any questions I had. Any he had a lot of nice little touches that you wouldn't have expected. Bottled water, nice towels and linens, gift cards for coffee/breakfast. I can't recommend enough. If you're going to Chicago, hang at Mark's place! Thanks Mark
