Comfortable room with queen pillow-top bed. Private bath & soaking tub. Yummy organic breakfast, friendly seasoned airbnb hosts. Hike surrounding conservation land, visit Wolf Neck Woods State Park. Just 3 miles from town. Gorgeous, must see!!!
Tranquil forest and meadow setting - 170 acres of land in conservation with walking trails managed by Freeport Conservation Trust. Enjoy cross country skiing, snow-shoeing, woodland walks. We're also a short drive to water access for kayaking, canoeing & boating.
We have an additional rental/guest room with double pencil post bed to allow up to two additional friends or family members to stay. For some occasions, we may consider offering the entire house for rent (sleeps up to 8 people). Please inquire to Lyra and Peter if you are interested in the details of these other options.
We can fire up the hot tub ($10 fee), serve breakfast in the warmer months on our lovely deck-top porch. Reliable wifi. And we provide for the special dietary needs of our guests.
Interaction with Guests
We "go with the flow" - if there's a great connection we love getting to know our guests. If you are looking for privacy we totally respect your needs.
We live in a coastal town sitting on the north shore of beautiful Casco Bay. Bradbury Mt. State Park, the 140 acre Audubon Sanctuary and Wolfe Neck Woods State Park offer plenty of hiking opportunities. Some beautiful walking trails are right outside our back door. Kayaking and biking (rentals) are available through nearby Wolfe's Neck Farm. Enjoy sightings of seal, osprey and eagles on an Atlantic Seal cruise. Or, shop the outlet stores of downtown Freeport, take in a movie at Nordica theater or a summer outdoor concert. There are farmer's markets that run through all four seasons and some pretty tasty food to be had at local eating spots we can recommend for your dining pleasure.
The Amtrack "Downeaster" train stops in Freeport Center and runs to nearby Portland (and all the way to Boston). Portland is also an easy car trip and is a great city to visit for guests on extended stays.
We like clear communication about arrivals and any special needs you may have so that we can prepare for your stay. We appreciate guests who are respectful of our home and quiet if staying out late. Sorry, but we cannot accommodate our guests' pets.
We have enjoyed hosting people from all over the world and look forward to meeting you at our new home!!
This was an AMAZING first stay! We couldn't have had a better introduction to the AirBnB community or to Maine for that matter. Lyra is an amazing woman, down to earth, and ready to make her home yours. She shared stories, and offered some help in choosing where to go in Freeport/Portland. Aside from shopping and eating, she suggested we go for a walk at Wolf's Neck State Park and it was one of my favorite parts of our trip. Aside from the open welcome, Lyra and Peter's home is gorgeous. Her breakfasts are WONDERFUL. And we simply feel spoiled after such a fantastic weekend. Lastly, Lyra provided a great balance of hospitality and privacy. Thank you for a fantastic time! We'll try to be back in Maine this summer :)
Delightful conversation, fresh and delicious breakfast, and close to a wonderful state park to escape and enjoy.
Wonderful hosts and wonderful stay. An easy drive to downtown Freeport and wolves neck state park. Definitely a memorable experience.
Can't imagine a better first time Airbnb experience. Great company..lovely home ....wonderful breakfast. Thanks so much and hopefully we will see you both again in the future.
The house was better than I could have imagined. I expected it to be beautiful from the pictures and descriptions, but it is an amazing piece of property. Lyra and Peter were the perfect hosts for us. Great conversation during a delicious breakfast. Made us feel welcome and unintrusive. They opened their kitchen to us to make dinner, which was extremely nice of them. Room itself was very nice, and the bed yielded a great nights sleep. Bathroom was stunning. We are already making plans to come back in the spring with more time to explore the surrounding nature.
Lyra was a wonderful hostess! We were greeted at the door and felt very welcome as Lyra showed us our room and bathroom and we talked about the area. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with perfect quantities of everything. Very clean, quiet at night. Would love to stay with Lyra again!
Lyra and Peter are truly exceptional hosts! Their beautiful home in Freeport is even better than described. We enjoyed the hot tub, wonderful breakfasts made by Lyra, and exploring the trails steps from the back door. The house was easy to find and in a great spot. They had plenty of recommendations for local restaurants and walks and provided wonderful company... they even taught us how to play Dominos. We hope to return for another cozy weekend sometime soon!

Peter loves to travel (Lyra goes sometimes). We enjoy our family, organic gardening, the ocean, music, movies and meeting new people. Peter likes to go fly fishing. Lyra likes to create community events. Both like to hike and cook and want to find ways to live more sustainably.
