Loft w/ Sunny Terrace in San Telmo

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Av Paseo Colón, Buenos Aires, Capital Federal 1063, Argentina

Warm and inviting colors with bold touches of reds and yellows, fabulous textiles and an inventive use of space, this one-bedroom loft has a large sunny terrace, great design, and is just two blocks away from Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo.

The Space

For those wanting to discover old Buenos Aires, both the hip and the authentic, the beautiful and the gritty sides of Buenos Aires, this gorgeous home is a great starting point.

This is a loft with one bedroom upstairs (king-size bed) and an office space five steps above the bedroom that has a double futon where two more people can sleep. The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. There's also a huge private terrace above the entire apartment.

Four people can sleep comfortably. However, there are no doors between the sleeping spaces, only a row of curtains for privacy. We provide sheets & towels, a pre-paid cell phone and a land line for local calls, WiFi, a TV and DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen, two gas heaters, two ceiling fans, two portable fans, a hairdryer, guidebooks and maps, novels, magazines, movies and CDs, and a great vibe throughout. There are also speakers for connecting your phone or other device because no one should be on vacation without their music. Oh, and the view from the terrace is lovely.

Guest Access

You have access to the entire home.

Interaction with Guests

Angela is splitting her time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires so if she is not there, so you'll be greeted by Grisel. We're both available for you and happy to help. You'll have our email addresses and phone numbers.

The Neighborhood

We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.

We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.

In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.

Getting around

We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off to not have to find coins for the buses. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.

Other Things to Note

Have a good look at the pictures. This apartment is on three different levels. The stairs are not the easiest to manage so if there are small children or older people in your party, please ask us in advance. We'll gladly answer any questions you have to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Thank you Angela, hope you are well! :)
    Buenos Aires-wow-nehmt Euch Zeit mit!

  • I spent 3 weeks in San Telmo loft in August, hosted by Virginie as Angela was traveling.

San Telmo loft is a wonderful place to stay, spacious and nicely decorated. Private photos, pictures, books and CDs of the owners give this place a very special warm touch.

I was there in winter and there were a few cold and windy days. The place is heated by gas and the wind turned off one of the heaters. I didn't manage to turn it back on but Virginie was there right away to fix it. In general - whatever questions I had - Virginie was there with help and advice. She is a wonderful and patient host. Thank you!!

The location is good: You are in the historical district of BA, 2 blocks away from Plaza Dorrego (it's measured in blocks and not in time here which is interesting;), there is a small grocery shop 100 meters away for basic stuff which I found very convenient, a nice cozy yoga studio 2 blocks away (buena onda yoga, say hi to Jessica if you go there;) and a good tango school 15 min walking distance...

If you book this place Virginie will provide you with a self-made guide which provides you with all the info you need if you are new to BA and San Telmo, e.g. how to recognize fake money, safety in general, bars and restaurants nearby, etc. I loved this guide and used it a lot. Upon arrival you'll get a pre-paid phone (how awesome is that?!) and a bus card. Virginie will explain you how to use public transportation to come around.

Overall I had a fantastic stay in San Telmo and will be back soon!!

  • The Hideaway was a very special treat. It was definitely our home while we were in Buenos Aires. Spacious, airy, comfortable - a perfect home in the city. Angela and Virginie were fantastic hosts for us providing information about everything from food and transportation to money exchange. I can't recommend them more!

  • Angela was a great hostess. She went above and beyond what was expected. The apartment was well stocked with coffee and sugar (and mate too!)

Angela provided useful information about traveling in Buenos Aires including where to experience the best tango shows, transportation and trusted money exchange places. She even showed us how to identify a fake 100 Argentinian peso.

The apartment is in a great location in San Telmo, the old part of Buenos Aires. And is walking distance to places of interest. Most of all we felt safe staying at the apartment.

I highly recommend the Sunny Loft.

  • We loved the loft and Angela's helpful advice and guide. The unit entry is on a busy street but once you ride the artistic elevator up three levels and enter the loft you are removed from the fray. The unit is cozy and what I would call funky eclectic with lovely collections of art, photos and decorations. We always looked forward to returning to the loft. The rooftop is ideal for a glass of Malbec at sunset and Dorrego Plaza is just 2 blocks away. Through Angela's guidance we were also able to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate. In other words she made our Argentine experience even more worthwhile!

  • Hola!

What can we say that hasn't been said yet? Angela (and John and Virginie) were terrific hosts, friendly, approachable, always available, and with their ready advice, were indispensable to our discovery and enjoyment of Buenos Aires! The apartments - because we stayed in two of Angela's - were both cool & funky, yet serene escapes at the end of a day spent in the hurly burly that is BA - and perfectly located in the heart of San Telmo. Highly recommended!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in San Telmo. This authentic and spacious loft was well-situated to seeing all of the sights of the surrounding neighbourhood and the entire city as well.

Angela was a gracious and accommodating host. We were greeted with recommendations on where to dine, visit and valuable tips on banking, safety and more. Dining options in the area were plentiful and delicious. We followed Angela’s recommendations and were never disappointed – from fine dining to local hole-in-the-wall parillas. Make sure to get a fresh squeezed orange juice from the street vendors.

The loft is very charming. It’s spacious, clean and features a private rooftop patio.

We enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend it.

  • A great apartment in a picturesque Buenos Aires neighborhood. It had everything one needs to have a pleasant stay in that great city. The huge terrace is great, for enjoying a mate cup or hanging your hand washed laundry :) There was plenty of cross ventilation in the unit, and with the fans running, the heat was not unbearable.

The apartment and neighborhood might be a little rough around the edges for some people but if you are craving for something artsy and fun, you will love it there! San Telmo might not be the posh barrio it used to be, but after seeing many other neighborhoods, I feel that it is the most charming and colorful one.

The best part about staying in this apartment was Angela.
Angela was an outstanding host and the information she so willingly shared from the get go was invaluable, such as: which car service to take from the airport, where to get the best exchange rate for your money. The cell phone, public transportation card, the neighborhood and Buenos Aires guide packed with great information she had for guests to use was also fantastic.
I felt very comfortable there, knowing that Angela was available if I needed anything. On our way to meeting some business colleagues for lunch at " Las Lilas", we could not lock the door of our unit and sure enough, we called Angela and she came to our rescue and took care of everything while we were gone.
Thank you Angela for all your hard work and thoughtfulness, you made our stay in Buenos Aires truly memorable!
I highly recommend staying in this lovely San Telmo apartment if you want to have a taste of the authentic Buenos Aires!

  • What a great place to stay when you've just arrived in Buenos Aires. The loft was lovely and Angela was the perfect host. From before we arrived to the day we left she went way above and beyond. Together with a folder of maps and tips, her local knowledge and willingness to help was invaluable in discovering the city.

Since July 2013, I've begun splitting my time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires, so if I'm not there in BA when you stay with us, my friend Grisel will be there to take care of you. I taught Composition in universities around the world for most of my life (Italy, Panama, France, Miami, Egypt). I quit teaching to focus on photography and writing. My partner John is a filmmaker. He makes family films. The actors are often our three cats: Felipe, Cortado and Bonzie. John and I both love cooking, music, and, of course, travel. We've been renting out our spaces since 2008; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. It's been a fabulous experience.
