About this listing
Warm and inviting colors with bold touches of reds and yellows, fabulous textiles and an inventive use of space, this one-bedroom loft has a large sunny terrace, great design, and is just two blocks away from Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo.
For those wanting to discover old Buenos Aires, both the hip and the authentic, the beautiful and the gritty sides of Buenos Aires, this gorgeous home is a great starting point.
This is a loft with one bedroom upstairs (king-size bed) and an office space five steps above the bedroom that has a double futon where two more people can sleep. The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. There's also a huge private terrace above the entire apartment.
Four people can sleep comfortably. However, there are no doors between the sleeping spaces, only a row of curtains for privacy. We provide sheets & towels, a pre-paid cell phone and a land line for local calls, WiFi (with the router in the apartment next door), a TV and DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen, two gas heaters, two ceiling fans, two portable fans, a hairdryer, guidebooks and maps, novels, magazines, movies and CDs, and a great vibe throughout. There are also speakers for connecting your phone or other device because no one should be on vacation without their music. Oh, and the view from the terrace is lovely.
You have access to the entire home.
Interaction with Guests
Angela is splitting her time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires so if she is not there, so you'll be greeted by Grisel or Andrew. We're all available for you and happy to help. You'll have our email addresses and phone numbers.
We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.
We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.
In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.
We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off to not have to find coins for the buses. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.
Other Things to Note
Regular check-in times are between 2pm and 8pm.
We cannot accept check-ins after 11pm.
If you are arriving between 8pm and 11pm or on a Sunday, our greeter will charge $15 US. Please write to me before you book so I can be sure she can be there.
Have a good look at the pictures. This apartment is on three different levels. The stairs are not the easiest to manage so if there are small children or older people in your party, please ask us in advance. We'll gladly answer any questions you have to make sure everyone is comfortable.
If you are going to be working while here, please send us a message first to discuss the WiFi needs you'll have. There is only one provider (Speedy/Telefonica) in this area and the speed isn't the best.
There are speakers you can plug into a device because no one should have to spend their vacation without music.
We have universal adaptors, a hair dryer, a bunch of DVDs for the nights you want to chill, and our kitchen is equipped for cooking your own meals.
- There is no smoking in the apartment.
- If you break something, please tell us. If it's a big deal, we will let you know the cost to replace it.
- If you lose the keys, we will have to charge for their replacement. Please keep them in your pocket, not your bag.
- No loud noise after 10pm on weekdays and after midnight on weekends.
- No parties. Small dinner parties are fine, but please respect the above quiet hours.
- You are on vacation but your neighbors are not. Please keep your voices low when you’re coming in late (both in the hallways and around the elevator). Others in the building are sleeping and its easy to forget that voices travel.
About the Host, Angela
I've begun splitting my time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires, so if I'm not there in BA when you stay with us, my friends Grisel and Andrew will be there to take care of you.
I taught writing in universities around the world for most of my life (Italy, Panama, France, Miami, Egypt). Now I run my own vacation rental business.
My husband John is a filmmaker. He makes family films. The actors are often our three cats: Felipe, Cortado and Bonzie.
John and I both love cooking, music, and, of course, travel. In 2015 we took a five-week trip in South America, so if you have any questions about traveling you think I can help with, let me know. I'm happy to help.
We've been renting out our spaces since 2008; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. A bunch of them even came to our wedding in April 2015. Talk about an inspiring group of guests.
