Loft w/ Sunny Terrace in San Telmo

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Av Paseo Colón, Buenos Aires, Capital Federal 1063, Argentina

Warm and inviting colors with bold touches of reds and yellows, fabulous textiles and an inventive use of space, this one-bedroom loft has a large sunny terrace, great design, and is just two blocks away from Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo.

The Space

For those wanting to discover old Buenos Aires, both the hip and the authentic, the beautiful and the gritty sides of Buenos Aires, this gorgeous home is a great starting point.

This is a loft with one bedroom upstairs (king-size bed) and an office space five steps above the bedroom that has a double futon where two more people can sleep. The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. There's also a huge private terrace above the entire apartment.

Four people can sleep comfortably though there are no doors between the sleeping spaces, only a row of curtains for privacy. We provide sheets & towels, a pre-paid cell phone and a land line for local calls, WiFi, a TV and DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen, a filtered water pitcher, two gas heaters, two ceiling fans, two portable fans, a hairdryer, guidebooks and maps, novels, magazines, movies and CDs, and a great vibe throughout. There are also speakers for connecting your phone or other device because no one should be on vacation without their music. Oh, and the view from the terrace is lovely.

Guest Access

We will have a greeter meet you at The Loft at the pre-arranged time to give you the keys, walk you through the space, and delight you with our fabulous guidebook (the insider's take on BA).

Interaction with Guests

Angela is in New Orleans most of the year, so you'll likely be greeted by Grisel or Virginie. We're all three available for you. You'll have our email addresses and phone numbers.

The Neighborhood

We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.

We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.

In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.

Getting around

We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off to not have to find coins for the buses. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.

Other Things to Note

Most of the people in this building are locals so it's really important to remember that your neighbors are not on vacation. Keep your voices down when coming in late after a night out (especially during the week when your neighbors have to wake up for work the next day).

  • I spent 3 weeks in San Telmo loft in August, hosted by Virginie as Angela was traveling.

San Telmo loft is a wonderful place to stay, spacious and nicely decorated. Private photos, pictures, books and CDs of the owners give this place a very special warm touch.

I was there in winter and there were a few cold and windy days. The place is heated by gas and the wind turned off one of the heaters. I didn't manage to turn it back on but Virginie was there right away to fix it. In general - whatever questions I had - Virginie was there with help and advice. She is a wonderful and patient host. Thank you!!

The location is good: You are in the historical district of BA, 2 blocks away from Plaza Dorrego (it's measured in blocks and not in time here which is interesting;), there is a small grocery shop 100 meters away for basic stuff which I found very convenient, a nice cozy yoga studio 2 blocks away (buena onda yoga, say hi to Jessica if you go there;) and a good tango school 15 min walking distance...

If you book this place Virginie will provide you with a self-made guide which provides you with all the info you need if you are new to BA and San Telmo, e.g. how to recognize fake money, safety in general, bars and restaurants nearby, etc. I loved this guide and used it a lot. Upon arrival you'll get a pre-paid phone (how awesome is that?!) and a bus card. Virginie will explain you how to use public transportation to come around.

Overall I had a fantastic stay in San Telmo and will be back soon!!

  • What a great place to stay when you've just arrived in Buenos Aires. The loft was lovely and Angela was the perfect host. From before we arrived to the day we left she went way above and beyond. Together with a folder of maps and tips, her local knowledge and willingness to help was invaluable in discovering the city.

  • Great spot, perfectly located. The Hideaway's sunny roof terrace invites you to relax after a busy day or before a busy night in the city...
Angela is a perfect host providing her guests with insider information and helpful tips to get around easily in Bs As' public transportation system.
We had an unforgettable stay in the Hideaway and would love to come back!

  • We stayed in this apartment for 4 nights. Our host Angela was fantastic. The whole process was professional and she made us feel very welcome.
Upon arrival Angela organised to meet us later than originally listed, which was a fantastic help and saved us finding another place for a night. On arrival she met us and introduced us to all we needed for our stay. With maps, a mobile phone, recharge card for transport, wireless internet, a house phone...and endless tips about the city - we had all we needed for our short time there. So too, Angela organised for us to check out later than normal so as to make our departure easier and more convenient for our evening flight. This was very much appreciated. She also organised transport for us to the airport.
The apartment itself was very comfortable and tastfully (email hidden) was large enough to fit 4 people easy, so for two we had loads of space to relax and unwind. I would highly recommend this place to anyone keen on visting Buenos Aires. Great place. Great host. Great city.

  • Angela is the best host. She will give you a guide with EVERYTHING you need to save time and enjoy your stay in the best locations around the apartment and in the city. In addition, she is super friendly and help you need.

The apartment is super charming and in a great location. Points for the wonderful terrace.

Thanks Angela, I hope to return!

    Warm regards,

    Roderico

  • Both the loft apartment and Angela were absolutely terrific. My sister and I stayed here for four nights, and both felt almost spoiled by the amount of space and level of comfort. Angela does a great and thorough job of providing resources about Buenos Aires in the apartment (guidebooks, a local phone with credit, etc.), as well as making herself available to answer any questions that crop up (such as questions about bus routes or travel to the airport). The place was a dream, I can't say enough good things about our experience!

  • Angela (and husband John) is more than just landlords, they give the extra that you love to receive but can expect, it's a joy when you arrive in a new city and already has a lot of information and are taken good care of. They are truely a great couple.

The Hideaway was very nice, and everything was working and clean, and quite despite the location After being around in the city I'm happy I initially settled for San Telmo. If I'm going to Buenos Aires again I would stay at the same place.

  • First time I used airbnb, but certainly not the last time, after the great experience that was our four-night-stay in Buenos Aires. The loft we stayed in was a fancy place with lots of character, and felt like home to us in a very short time ... we were really always looking forward to coming back of walks around the different parts of Buenos Aires.

Angela & John were both very nice people... they helped when help was needed and were giving us great advice. What I especially liked was the self-made booklet, which was a great guide especially for San Telmo, when it came to restaurant tips, tango experiences and more!

  • This apartment is very beautiful, confortable and very charming. It is located in a neighbourhood where you can find traditional and old restaurants and coffee shops, tango...well, there is a mix of touristic and typical places. Besides that, Angela is very lovely and she makes you feel at home.

  • The Hideaway is a lovely flat, and it was perfect for our week in Bs As. It's exactly like the pictures, very comfortable, cozy and warm in the winter, and the bed is great (king size, I guess)! Me and my husband had a great time.
It's really close to the Plaza Dorrego (a 2 min walking distance) and Calle Defensa, the heart of San Telmo.
Angela is a great host, I will definetly stay in one of her flats when I return!

About
After 20 years abroad living in various countries, I've moved back to Louisiana where I am originally from. My friend Grisel is the person you'll meet in Buenos Aires. She takes care of checking guests in and out and giving you our very thorough orientation to Buenos Aires. John and I spend most of our time making family films. That's why we moved from Buenos Aires to New Orleans. I taught Composition in universities around the world for most of my adult life. Now I am an entrepreneur, a web designer, photographer and writer. John and I both love cooking, music, and cats. Our apartments are quirky and seem to attract the kind of people we would be hanging out with all the time if we lived in the same place. We've been renting out our spaces on AirBnB since 2010; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. Many of them have even come to visit us here in New Orleans. It's been a great experience.
