About This Listing
Warm and inviting colors with bold touches of reds and yellows, fabulous textiles and an inventive use of space, this one-bedroom loft has a large sunny terrace, great design, and is just two blocks away from Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo.
For those wanting to discover old Buenos Aires, both the hip and the authentic, the beautiful and the gritty sides of Buenos Aires, this gorgeous home is a great starting point.
This is a loft with one bedroom upstairs (king-size bed) and an office space five steps above the bedroom that has a double futon where two more people can sleep. The living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. There's also a huge private terrace above the entire apartment.
Four people can sleep comfortably. However, there are no doors between the sleeping spaces, only a row of curtains for privacy. We provide sheets & towels, a pre-paid cell phone and a land line for local calls, WiFi (with the router in the apartment next door), a TV and DVD player, a fully equipped kitchen, two gas heaters, two ceiling fans, two portable fans, a hairdryer, guidebooks and maps, novels, magazines, movies and CDs, and a great vibe throughout. There are also speakers for connecting your phone or other device because no one should be on vacation without their music. Oh, and the view from the terrace is lovely.
You have access to the entire home.
Interaction with Guests
Angela is splitting her time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires so if she is not there, so you'll be greeted by Grisel. We're both available for you and happy to help. You'll have our email addresses and phone numbers.
We're just 2 blocks from Plaza Dorrego, the heart of San Telmo and 2 blocks away from Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires' most modern neighborhood. It's a fantastic location.
We love San Telmo's bohemian vibe and authenticity. Though gentrification is definitely happening, it's not pretentious... yet.
In particular, we love that it's small. No matter where you are in San Telmo, you'll find a cool place to eat, great bars and cafes, some lovely boutiques (though fewer than in Palermo or Recoleta) and you will mostly hear Spanish.
We provide you with a SUBE card that you can top off to not have to find coins for the buses. The card can be used on buses and the subway. We also have a local guide to the bus system which we'll teach you to use when you check-in. Buses are great in BA.
Other Things to Note
Have a good look at the pictures. This apartment is on three different levels. The stairs are not the easiest to manage so if there are small children or older people in your party, please ask us in advance. We'll gladly answer any questions you have to make sure everyone is comfortable.
If you are going to be working while here, please send us a message first to discuss the WiFi needs you'll have. There is only one provider (Speedy/Telefonica) in this area and the speed isn't the best.
- There is no smoking in the apartment.
- If you break something, please tell us. If it's a big deal, we will let you know the cost to replace it.
- If you lose the keys, we will have to charge for their replacement. Please keep them in your pocket, not your bag.
- No loud noise after 10pm on weekdays and after midnight on weekends.
- No parties. Small dinner parties are fine, but please respect the above quiet hours.
- You are on vacation but your neighbors are not. Please keep your voices low when you’re coming in late (both in the hallways and around the elevator). Others in the building are sleeping and its easy to forget that voices travel.
The loft is a lovely little space in San Telmo that you would never expect. It is better suited to two couples, rather than four singles, but Grisel was super helpful in making it work. The space was furnished with everything we needed and absolutely loved the rooftop.
Great location - supermarket nearby, on the doorstep of San Telmo and easy access to busses accross the street.
The place doesnt have air conditioning, which made the hot BA summer pretty unpleasant, but there are fans everywhere.
Grisel was super helpful and welcoming and the little folder guide Angela has made is very useful.
We stayed at the loft for 6 nights. The loft was beautiful - just like the pictures - great decor and the rooftop terrace was a great place to cool down after a long hot day exploring the city! It's in a great location and the position of the loft meant we didn't hear any of the noise from the street. Angela was very good at getting back to us if we had any questions. We met Grisel and Andrew who were both very helpful during our stay. The fan in the living room wasn't working but Andrew and Grisel did their best to try and get the fan fixed for us (the heat/humidity in January in BA is an experience in itself). The hosts have put together a great folder providing loads of useful information which made discovering the city a little easier. Wifi was good. We loved the Loft and would stay there again if we are ever back in BA.
Ma fille a été reçue par une personne pas très aimable envoyée par une agence immobilière .
Pascale.... all guests are greeted by Angela, Grisel or Andrew. Comments from other guests will show that all three of us are friendly, professional, and very willing to help our guests. Your daughter set a check-out time and Andrew had to wait for more than an hour for her to arrive without knowing if he should be worried, should continue waiting, should begin to search for her. When she arrived late, she did not apologize. I texted you on Christmas Eve in France to see if you knew where she was. All three of us, Grisel, Andrew and I were involved in making sure your daughter (an adult) checked out and got to the airport on time. Waiting for over an hour on Christmas Eve is not a polite thing to make someone do.
I'm delighted to know that you found the apartment well-decorated and comfortable and that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for including that in your private comments to me. It's wonderful to know that our guests enjoyed their time with us.
Angela's place was in a perfect part of San Telmo and the decor was really unique, which gave the place great character. Grisel was a lovely host, showing us around the apartment and getting us settled in. She was also very prompt on checking us out, which made it a great communication experience. I highly recommend staying here and would love to come back again someday!

About the Host, Angela
Since July 2013, I've begun splitting my time between New Orleans and Buenos Aires, so if I'm not there in BA when you stay with us, my friend Grisel will be there to take care of you.
I taught Composition in universities around the world for most of my life (Italy, Panama, France, Miami, Egypt). I quit teaching to focus on photography and writing. My partner John is a filmmaker. He makes family films. The actors are often our three cats: Felipe, Cortado and Bonzie. John and I both love cooking, music, and, of course, travel.
We've been renting out our spaces since 2008; we've made friends all over the world and learned so much. It's been a fabulous experience.
Buy a big bottle of Quilmes from a shop nearby & pick a spot on the stairs or grab a table for drinks (no food, seriously bad stuff & overpriced). The people watching is great on the plaza.
Our absolute favorite restaurant in San Telmo. Sort of pricey for the neighborhood, but it's the best ojo de bife (ribeye) in the city. It's small, so do reserve.
Best cocktails in the area & maybe the best in the city. The hours here are hard to figure out. It's best to go between 8pm & 1am. But it's an intimate place, with friendly bartenders & local music.
Good beer. Nice people working there. Great curries for those who've been traveling a while and miss spicy. They are really spicy, proper curries. They also have good breakfasts on Sat and Sun. noon.
Go hear to see and hear live music, mostly tango. The best artists of the country play here. It's an intimate spot with terrible food, so eat before you go.
Cafe Notable. These are old-fashioned, lovely cafes that have not changed in 100 years or so. Food is never awesome. It's suitable for lunch. But the atmosphere is unbeatable.
This is where you must go for the Argentine asado. You'll find cuts of beef you haven't seen in other spots and they're done beautifully. Let the waiter guide you.
Our second favorite spot in San Telmo. Fresh, seasonal menu. Lovely service. Great for lunch. Sidewalk tables for when the weather is nice.
