About this listing
The attic is an apartment all on one floor, very bright and with a fabulous terrace, overlooking the rooftops, the bell tower of San Rufino and the bedroom at night you can see the Rocca Maggiore illuminated.
Terrace furnished with plants
This cosy but spacious and bright apartment is found on the second floor of a pretty stone building in the heart of Assisi and benefits from a fabulous and private roof top terrace of 48 sq metres, with spectacular roof top and mountain views. The apartment itself covers an area of almost 60 sq. metres comprising a large living space from where one can see the Bell Tower of the Basilica di San Ruffino Church. The living area is open plan with a well fitted kitchen offering plenty of work space and a breakfast bar as well as a separate dining table. The bedroom is also a very good size with a large window through which one can enjoy a view of The Rock of Assisi. The bedroom comprises a double bed whilst a sofa bed in the living room offers extra sleeping space for 2 more guests making this apartment most suitable for a family of 4.
The apartment is very closed to the Piazza Matteotti parking and also to a free parking area.
The guests are welcomed at the swimming pool of a wonderful agriturism in the Subasio Park, just 15 km far from Assisi, without any fee. Free and fast Wi-Fi available.
This is a great little apartment, with spectacular views of Assisi. It is situated near the top of the hill, so one can see much of the town when walking down to the basilica San Francesco. It is close to the church of San Rufino. From the rooftop terrace one has a terrific view, and at night one can see the castle on the hill lit up beautifully while lying in bed.
Laura met us at the train station and brought us up into the town. She gave us a good orientation. The apartment was clean and tastefully furnished. The bed was comfortable. A number of bottles of wine were provided for a small fee, if we wanted them. There was a washing machine in the basement of the building for our use.
The apartment itself is on the top (third?) floor of the building, with no lift. The street -- which has no vehicle traffic -- was very quiet. A main bus stop is just around the corner from the apartment.
Make sure you take careful note of the appearance of the street and door! The doors are not numbered, and on our first night when we returned after dark, we had some difficulty locating the right door.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful apartment. We were warmly greeted at the train station by Laura, who kindly picked us up and drove us to this perfectly located and well-maintained apartment. Upon entering, we were thoroughly taken by the amazing views of Assisi and the Umbrian countryside-views are even more spectacular than the photos convey. We would definitely stay here again if we had the good fortune to come back to Assisi. Thanks Laura for a most wonderful stay!
Laura picked us up at the train station and drove us to the apartment, which was very much appreciated after a long day of travel. She was friendly and we enjoyed our conversation along the way. However, to our surprise, we were not driven to the Mansard but rather to another apartment on the lowest floor of a building with no terrace or view. When asked, we were told that while ours was the first booking, the Maynard is now occupied. No further explanation was offered. This was disappointing since we booked our four night stay and received confirmation over 4 months ago. Given that it was early evening on a Sunday, we didn't feel we had many options.
On the positive side, the new place was very central. It was large and attractive, the kitchen modern and well-equipped, and in general very comfortable. Assisi is a magical town, full of beautiful sights. We were able to walk everywhere. Laura gave us a fantastic restaurant recommendation and told us where to find grocery stores and other conveniences for our stay.
While the change of location by no means diminished our enjoyment of this truly wonderful town, we were disappointed with not having access to a terrace and with the business practice overall.

I am a chef originally from Faenza and I moved many years ago in Assisi where I worked in the field of catering and tourism. Alessandro, my husband says I'm full of good taste and vitality, but you know: love is blind ... :)
