About This Listing
Welcome to our comfy, bright + modern A-frame-style home in historic High Falls. It's full of light and our favorite place to be. An ideal Hudson Valley getaway.
The house has 2 bedrooms: one downstairs on the ground floor with a deluxe queen-sized mattress, desk and iMac. The large, upstairs master loft also has a queen-sized mattress, a half-bathroom, and overlooks the living room (there's a 1/2 wall and no door at the top of the stairs, but it still feels private). Both rooms have abundant closet space.
The living room area has a new couch, art books, board games, and a flatscreen TV with HDMI & mini display cords for connecting with a laptop. A large dining table seats 6 comfortably. The living/dining areas are connected in the main room of the home.
The kitchen is stocked with essentials (spices, baking supplies, etc.), and pots and pans for cooking and baking, which we hope you’ll make good use of.
There's a screened-in sunroom off of the main living/dining room that's great for warm weather days. There's a table and chairs out here for relaxing, eating, or working.
Linens and towels are provided.
The house also has:
- dishwasher + microwave
- washer + dryer
- central air
- beautifully restored floors
- handmade ceramics + furniture
We hope you’ll treat the home as if it were yours. The artwork in the home was made by family and friends, Jacob made most of the furniture, and Youngna made the dishware/ceramics.
We’re sandwiched between Minnewaska State Park (20 minutes), the Shawangunks (10 minutes), and the Catskills (20-30 minutes), so there’s extensive trails for hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, and endless other outdoor activity. There’s also tons of cycling, swimming holes, jogging trails, tubing (on the Esopus River), and yoga studios in the area.
Golf is literally just out the back door at the Stone Dock Golf Course. For a little local putting you can go next door to the High Falls Cafe and get right on the green. Don’t worry, though, no golf balls will disturb (though you may see an occasional passerby on the green.) You can also check out the The woodstock Country Club, The Lazy Swan Golf & Country Club, or the golf course at Mohonk Mountain.
The home is close to farm stands, apple orchards, markets, wine shops, swimming holes, great restaurants, thrift stores, and tons of outdoor activity.
Nearby towns include New Paltz, Kingston, Stone Ridge, Phoenicia, Woodstock, and Saugerties on the west side of the Hudson, and Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Tivoli, and Hudson just across the river.
We’ll give you our guide book with everything you need to know about our favorite markets, restaurants, hikes, and activities once you’ve booked. This is an ideal getaway for a family, close friends, and couples.
High Falls is a tiny, historic, and charming town first established in the 1690s. It’s old and quirky with a terrific local co-op, craft beer spot (Hopped Up Cafe), weekly flea market, a few funky thrift stores, and a handful of restaurants. You’re right next to Rosendale, where you can attend a yearly pickle festival, have the world’s best egg sandwiches at the Big Cheese, see a movie at Rosendale Theater, or walk the Rosendale Trestle. Stone Ridge is full of gorgeous 200+ year old stone buildings and offers grocery stores, more thrifitng, restaurants, and a wine shop.
We love the area: it's beautiful and rural, but not remote. We have quiet neighbors both across the street and next door. Next door is a friendly cafe with live music (mostly jazz, cover tracks, and oldies). Note: Our backyard is partially the 9th hole of a small, local golf course, which keeps views open all year round. This also means you may see people out back during the day.
Driving is easy (2 hrs. from NYC). There are also buses running 20 times a day from NY Port Authority to Rosendale, a 5-min. drive away.
Please treat the home as if it were your own. Please keep smoking outside + sorry, but no pets!
Awesome little sanctuary only two hours from NYC! We went up to do some work and it was an amazing place to concentrate, with large windows letting in light and a view of a little rural golf course outside. Great details and an sweet kitchen with space to cook! We found a great little Food-co-op and rarely left the apartment. Also some great natural hikes and runs very close and the town of High Falls in very close if you want to eat eat. Great screened in porch for when it gets a little warmer, and could easily have a nice barbeque on the back deck. Highly recommend for a little R and R away from the hustle and bustle of the city. And Jacon and Younga were very accommodating and let us check out late. We didn't really want to leave at all to be quite honest.
What an amazing cozy weekend. Jacob and Youngna's beautiful home was the perfect backdrop for a weekend getaway from the city. They are also really fast at getting back to you. Their house is decorated impeccably (perfect for photographs) and is supplied with all of the necessities. They also have a fun handbook with great suggestions as to what to do, see and eat. You really only have to bring yourself and groceries! Thank you a million times for the amazing time. We ran into an issue (that we still feel so badly about) but Jacob was understanding about the situation.
What a perfect get-a-way! The house is impeccably decorated! The kitchen is full of great cookware (often not the case at rentals!) and beautiful handmade pottery. Jacob and Younga were so friendly in all communications and provided us with a really comprehensive guide for the area. We had a great time exploring some wineries and the whiskey distillery as well as eating at some of the local cafes and walking around the beautiful area. Everything was covered in snow, but we'd love to try some of the hikes and swimming holes next time!
What a lovely upstate getaway!
My wife, son, and I had a delightful long weekend at Jacob and Youngna's lovely home. Perfectly positioned in the Rondout Valley, high falls is a gem, and their cottage is meticulously done with beautiful details and a homey vibe.
We used the home as a homebase to check out rosendale, stone ridge, accord, and kerhonksen, all of which are short drives away.
Youngha and Jacob are consummate hosts--everything is very clear in their house guide and instructions.
Welcoming, comfortable, and cool.
Fantastic, gorgeous home in a scenic location. We went in winter and went snowshoeing nearby. It was a really relaxing way to get out of the City for the weekend.
The kitchen and pantry were well-stocked. We made dinner with their slow cooker and it was delicious!
Youngna and Jacob were incredibly hospitable and they've styled their home in a personal and cozy way. We felt very comfortable there!
We just has the most wonderful holiday at Jacob and Youngna's cozy and chic upstate home! The house was even better in person with fantastic views, a great kitchen with all your needs and the most romantic and comfortable loft bedroom. Communication was seamless and they provided a very thorough house guide which was most helpful. The area is lovely with many small towns to discover. We will certainly be back!

About the Host, Jacob + Youngna
We fell in love with this sweet little house in the Hudson Valley last fall and it has quickly become our favorite place to spend time reading, cooking, hiking, and relaxing with friends and family.
Back in Brooklyn, Youngna works at a startup that makes awesome apps for kids and Jacob makes films and photographs. We love cycling, ceramics, and cooking ambitious things. We're constantly seeking out new music, live events, and big bowls of ramen.
A couple years ago, we traveled around the country showing our dance film, Girl Walk // All Day, staying with people through AirBNB. We love the experience of hosting, and had a great experience jumping into other folks' lives for a few nights here and there. We're genuinely pumped to share our spot with you.
