At the gateway to Connemara but convenient to Galway city and to Barna with good supermarket+some nice pubs+restaurants. Gorgeous view of Galway bay and the Burren out the windows and there are lovely walks by the beach and in the bog nearby.
One luxury double bed. The other bed is a sofa bed but it's very comfortable. Also two single air mattresses which zip together comfortably to form a double.
You will have access to the kitchen and both bathrooms. When the apartment is not being rented out on airbnb, I live in it myself. This means some of my own things will be around: coats and boots at the front door, some toiletries in the shower, my clothes in the bedroom (tidied to the corner) and my food in the kitchen presses and fridge (though I'll leave spaces for guests to put their own food)
Interaction with Guests
I will be nearby and can call over to help guests, if needed. If I'm away, my neighbour will be there to help you.
Lovely walk by the sea outside the house. There's also a road that leads up to the bog behind the house. This is another great walk to do. Barna and Spiddal are both within 5-10 mins drive. The Connemara Coast, The Twelve Pins, O' Grady's on the Pier and Builin Blasta are all good restaurants and a short drive from the house. Padraicin's is a 3 min walk and also serves great food.
Located about 14 miles outside Galway city. For those without a car, there are a few buses that pass the front garden going into Galway and will stop for you if you flag them down/ request a stop. However the last bus returning home from the city is very early... before 9pm, I think. So if you're going out in Galway city for the night, you need to get a taxi home. Barna Hackneys' fare is around 20 euro. They are usually good about letting a few groups or individuals share a minibus. If you ring them, they sometimes organise a minibus at pub/club closing time that does the rounds of south/east Connemara dropping everyone to their doors.
Pets allowed only if house-trained.
Please leave the house clean and neat as you found it.
There are people/families living in the apartments on either side so we ask you kindly not to shout or make noise between 11pm and 8am.
No smoking inside the house.
We had a great time here! The house is cozy and it has everything you would need. We've been very lucky because we had nice and sunny weather so we could enjoy the view on galway bay and the surrounding which is nice for walks. You can see a lot of the rough and wild west cost. We went to Connemara, Galway and to the Cliffs of Moher without any Problem. AJ was a great and mindful host so we could feel ourselves at home very fast. Thank you AJ :).
The house is very well located, close to Galway, also you have a beatiful beach and a pub at walking distance. It had one big bedroom with beautiful views of the sea. It was comfortable and clean, but not really spotless.
AJ was a lovely host, she came and met us at the local church. She even left a very welcome meal for us! Her place was a little tricky to find at night! The beds were very comfortable, I recommend staying there.
I had a lovely stay in Julie's little house. The view from the bedroom window is spectacular. The house has everything you could need and the bed was really comfortable. I was working so I didn't get a chance to see much of the area or have a walk but the food in O'gradys on the pier was excellent.
I did run out of gas but Julie made every possible effort to solve my problem so I could continue cooking. A neighbour even delivered a stove to the house which was lovely.
An added little bonus was having some cuddles with the local kittens so I never felt lonely being in my own there. I'd love to come back on actual holidays!
Thank you so much for this nice time on your lovely house. We really enjoyed everything! It wars very! Clean and the area is just gorgeous. We will looking forward to visiting your place again once.thanks again A.J. Best regards michael and Maja
Loved staying here! Clean, well supplied apartment with a huge, comfy bed and beautiful view of Galway Bay. Perfect location for us; we visited the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands during our stay, and spent lots if time (and two late nights!) in Galway City. At the last minute I asked if we could stay an extra day, and our host was lovely and accommodating.
A fantastic place to stay - the house was exactly as described only better. It was right across the road from the beautiful Galway Bay and a short walk to a friendly pub with fantastic meals. Excellent communication with the host. We will certainly be back - thanks AJ.
