Nice room in Gorgeous Victorian

Apartment - Private room · Markham St, Toronto, ON M6G 2L1, Canada

The Space

This is a small room in our Gorgeous Victorian House centrally located on a quiet, beautiful tree-lined street. Our house is warm and peaceful with great atmosphere.

This room has a Queen Bed, full closet for hanging your clothes and two chests of drawers/night tables for storing your clothes. There is a comfy chair in the room as well so you can enjoy reading or relaxing in your room. Windows open and we have airconditioning in the summer months.

Our house is close to Little Italy (5 mins), Kensington Market (10mins), Queen St W. (15 mins), Bloor St.(5 mins), Ossington (15 mins), and University of Toronto (15 mins). There are dozens of amazing restaurants, cafes and bars nearby on Harbord, College, Bloor and Ossington.

We are close to streetcars (3 minute walk to both College and Bathurst streetcars) and Subway (5 min walk to the Bloor/Bathurst station).

We offer wireless internet. We have a fabulous cappuccino machine (JURA) and lots of tea choices available to you at any time. And you are more than welcome to store basic dry foods in our 'airbnb' drawer in the kitchen or perishables in the fridge. We provide towels, linen and basic toiletries.

We don't have parking at our home and in downtown Toronto you can't actually park on the street without a permit so we suggest parking in the underground parking lots (choice of two of them) at the end of our street.

Also you can get a temporary on-street parking permit if you apply to the following website:

(website hidden)

Here is the content of the City of Toronto parking website:
Temporary on-street permit parking
Provided space is available, a temporary parking permit may be purchased by residents and their guests to park a motor vehicle on a street designated under the permit parking program, at a cost of $19.18 per week, $8.19 per 24 hours or $12.28 per 48 hours, plus H.S.T. This program generally services those residential areas where driveways are not common.

Step 1
Read and consent to the Website terms of use and then enter the temporary parking permit application. You will be advised if parking space is available. If space is available, you will be asked if you wish to purchase a permit for the duration you specified. Permits can be purchased up to a maximum of one week in advance of date required.

Step 2
Enter vehicle information and confirm that the application meets the requirements for obtaining a permit and acknowledge the conditions for use of the temporary parking permit.

Step 3
To finalize the application enter your credit card information (VISA, Master Card, American Express) and confirm that the information you provided is correct.

Step 4
Upon payment, a permit is issued along with a receipt. Print the permit and follow the instructions for displaying it on your vehicle's dashboard.

  • Vicky is a great host. Her house is very nice and the location is perfect. I had a nice and cozy room, which made my stay very pleasant. I highly recommend her if you're visiting Toronto

  • Would definitely stay again with Vicki and Richard. It was a super location for me and close to streetcars and subway. The house is lovely and the bed was super comfortable.

  • Another fantastic stay with Vicki and Richard in their beautiful home that is close to everything, quiet and clean. We slept like babies!

  • My friend and I enjoyed our stay in Toronto at Vicki and Richard's. Just tips: parking is additional 8$ since you have to buy it off Toronto City website. Besides that, the hosts were really nice and welcoming and Richard even helped me printing the permit for me. Highly recommend them.

  • Vicki and Richard were not at the house when we arrived but the key system and their other directions worked perfectly. When they did return they were very welcoming and helpful.
We stayed 10 nights in their comfortable double bed and the location of the house was perfect for its proximity to restaurants, the rail network and our Canadian relatives. All their facilities were very clean and the only downside was our fear of waking someone due to the creaking of the floorboards when we returned late at night. Despite the snow outside we did not need the additional room heater they supplied.

  • I visited Toronto for the weekend and wanted a place to stay in the city but didn't want to pay for a place in the city. While there I saw some live theatre and ate some much needed excellent cuisine.

  • Thank you very much for the stay and your comment.
Richard is a wonderful host and he's very helpful. I recommend his house for every traveller !

  • Peace and quiet in a busy world awaits in this cozy room. An abundance of beautiful quilts, comfortable pillows, and a warm duvet adds to the experience and keeps me returning to this home away from home. Love the coffee!

  • Location is in a great place to be in if you don't plan on renting a car if you are from out of town. Streetcars are close by (2 blocks). The room itself was perfect for 2. House was beautiful and room & bathroom was clean. Stay had towels and toiletries even; just like a hotel stay! Loved this BnB and would definitely stay again!

We are world travellers and have lived in Europe, the US and Canada. We are passionate about entrepreneurship, how we learn, culture change, human potential, photography and design. We have a vast collection of books (from those days when people bought books) with lots of great photographs (Richard's passion, along with flying) around our home. We love meeting new people and making connections that make the world a better place. As we are often travelling we look for independent guests who can let themselves in and manage on their own (with simple to follow instructions that we leave for you!).
