Ideal for families, this lovely 3 story A-frame is one of Lake Naomi's original homes and is maintained with meticulous care. Your canoe, kayak and access to the lake are right across the street. Two decks ensure hours of relaxation and family time.
This raised A-frame chalet has been in our family since 1967 and several generations have enjoyed its beauty and charm. With 2 1/2 baths, the home is large enough to easily accommodate 8-10 adults or two families with children.
The open floor plan on the second floor allows for large group dinners and memorable nights around the table playing cards and board games or watching TV in the adjacent family room. The loft on the third floor with four twin beds, accessible from the stairs wrapping behind the fireplace, is a favorite area for the kids. The first level family room with fireplace allows for a quieter space for music, television, reading or conversation away from the gang. The lower level also has a bedroom with a queen sized bed. The house is equipped with cable TV and Wi-Fi.
The large front deck with plenty of seating is a perfect place to spend lazy afternoons reading your favorite book or enjoying an evening cocktail while cooking dinner on the charcoal grill.
Our ideal location provides easy access to the lake where you can enjoy boating, fishing and swimming. For Winter rental, we are just 20-30 minutes from Camelback, Jack Frost and Big Boulder ski resorts.
The entire family will have plenty to do in this lovely community. In warmer weather, bicycles, kayak and canoe are provided for our guests. Lake Naomi is a Premier Recreational Community - one of the finest in the country. Temporary Membership* provides access to the lake, ponds and beaches, the Clubhouse Restaurant, participation in many recreational and social activities, pools, recreational tennis and basketball courts, as well as Silver Tennis and Silver Golf (Court and Greens Fees are additional). Interaction with Guests
Joseph and his wife Mary will be available by phone, text or e-mail as needed. There will be a lock box on the front door containing the key and we'll provide the lock box combination prior to your arrival.
Lake Naomi is a spring-fed lake that is clear and cool. It is stocked each Spring with trout, sunfish and other native varieties. Bicycling, hiking and running trails are provided and marked. The west end of the Lake is buttressed by a century-old dam that provides a lovely waterfall and rushing rapids - a great location for trout fishing too.
There are several small islands on the lake that are great for kids and adults to explore. The Lake is man-made and is fairly shallow year-round but is deep enough for good boating.
After a day filled with activities around the lake, families often relax on the deck while grilling dinner, having drinks and socializing. Club Beach is a perfect place to experience a magnificent sunset at the Tiki Bar or from the Clubhouse Restaurant where you can enjoy both formal and informal dining options.
There is a soft ice cream stand on Route 940 that does a bustling business from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There is a pizza/deli at the entrance to the community on Route 940 and several large supermarkets are within 10-15 minutes by car.
Outlet shopping, movie theater and recreational communities such as Camelbeach Mountain Water Park are a 20 minute drive away. In the Winter, skiing is 20-30 minutes drive to Camelback, Jack Frost and Big Boulder.
There are several churches in the local community or within 10-15 minutes by car.
To see all that Lake Naomi offers, please go to their website.
The Lake is approximately 2 1/2 miles in length and is easy to drive around in 10-15 minutes by car. Many residents bike, run or walk during the day and there is a Community bus that provides free transportation to most of the activity locations for children and adults throughout the day and early evening. Our family has always enjoyed boating around the lake from the Manor Hill access to Club Beach or the small islands by canoe or kayak.
Other Things to Note
Please Note: This is not a party house. We envision our home as a family house but please be aware that small children, infants and toddlers will need adult supervision in certain areas of the house. We suggest parents bring railings or child safety gates to block access to the loft stairs and the front deck. Sheets and bath towels are provided.
NO pets allowed. No smoking inside the house - please be considerate while smoking outdoors and properly dispose of any cigarette butts. The individual inquiring must be at least 25 years of age. We look forward to sharing our home with responsible adults who wish to enjoy the amenities of Lake Naomi and our home. We cherish the home our parents built and ask that you treat it as you would your own. We think you and your family will love your stay at the lake.
We had an amazing trip! There were 10 of us and we all fit comfortably. The house is close to the ski resort. We were greatful for that! Joseph and Mary were very attentive and always responded to my calls quickly as soon as we arrived.
The house was so warm and cozy. We especially loved the kitchen/living room area. We sat in front of the fireplace and enjoyed each others company. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of pots, pans, and dishes. There were also many games, books, and electronic devices that made us feel right at home.
If I am ever able to go back to the Poconos, I would definitely stay at the chalet again!
We just spent 3 days at the McCafferty family and had a gorgeous time! The house is beautiful, cosy and safe for children. The area is beautiful and Joseph and Mary were available by phone at any time and had made very clear instructions on how to use the house. I highly recommend this family house and charming hosts. We are actually thinking of going back in the winter. Thanks Mary and Joseph, Sacha (3 years old) cannot stop talking about the "red house" and the kayaks, the lake, the red leaves, the smell of woodfire and the boulder field. Thanks for the great memories!
We had a great time at the lake house! There were plenty of pots and pans to cook, a grill for cookouts, and a nice fireplace to keep us warm during the cool summer nights. The canoe and kayak were easy to access across the street, and the design of the house had lots of interesting levels. The big open living room was a great place to hangout with the family.
We had really good time, house was well maintained, close to lake. Lots of place to have fun, beach, fishing, tennis, golf, pool.... One thing is little surprised was club membership is 300$ per week, we got to know it 2 weeks before vacation, although we think it is well worthy. Will be nice to know up front.
We had a great extended weekend stay at the lake house. The access to canoe/kayak was great, and the beach was within walking distance. It surroundings were serene and relaxing, and the house was huge and clean. Joe and Mary were highly accessible and answered all of our questions quickly and kindly.
What a beautiful home! My friends and I rented this house over Memorial Day Weekend. It was exactly as described and more! The lake was gorgeous and the house even comes with a canoe and kayak that we got a lot of use out of. Joseph and Mary were very professional and attentive messaging and texting us throughout the process and weekend to make sure all of our questions/needs were met. We spent many hours relaxing on the water of Lake Naomi then many more on the large deck at the house. The home had everything you needed for a great weekend including a kitchen with all you needed to cook great meals, grill and fireplace that kept us very warm in the cooler evenings. Thanks again!
My Tough Mudder Team had the privilege of staying at Mr. and Mrs. Cafferty's Retreat. Their property is very nice and comfortable. Speaking with and emailing back and forth with Joe was great, as we were making our arrangements. The home is in a quiet neighborhood. It's only 15 minutes from Walmart and the Pocono Racetrack. We arrived on Saturday afternoon. We made dinner that evening and everyone had a comfortable night's rest, before our Tough Mudder the next morning. There was eight (8) of us, and everyone agreed that the decision to stay at the McCafferty's was a good decision!
Joe and Mary have been happily married since October 2, 1982.
We met here at Lake Naomi in 1973 as teenagers - dating through high school and college before marrying and raising our family.
We have 7 children - most are out of the house and on their own but several younger ones are still at home and in school.
Joe's brother Kevin is the co-owner of the house and he has many fond memories of this house and the Lake. Kevin now uses the house more in the winter months with his children and grandchildren.
Joe and Mary enjoy reading, praying together, biking, tennis, boating, swimming and any time with our children and our close friends. We're very active in our community and our church in our home town of Lancaster, PA.
