House - Private room · Avalon Crescent, Queenstown, Otago 9300, New Zealand

The Space

NB: WE DONT CHARGE FOR EXTRA GUEST the price is per room for 2 people

UNFORTUNATELY our house is NOT child friendly as we dont have children ourselves, so we are unable to accept bookings with children.

We have 2 double bedrooms available. Each bedroom has a built in wardrobe. The 2 bedrooms share one bathroom with a spa bath and shower, so if youre our only guest the bathroom is all yours! There is a second toilet availble off the garage. The garage can hold 4 cars so you won't have to de-ice your vehicle in the middle of winter! or walk in the rain to the house as the garage has internal stairs.

The house has central heating which is a must in Queenstown especially if you are not a kiwi, so you will always be warm enough. The kitchen/ lounge is open plan on 2 levels. We have a selection of dvds and plenty of books for your pleasure. We also have sky tv with all the sports channels. The lounge is comfortable with a log fire and 2 large comfy sofas. The kitchen has the usual suspects like microwave, juicer and blender. Free WIFI available.

Continental breakfast is included for you to help yourselves when you wake. We have porridge, cereals, bread, a selection of jams, peanut butter, nutella and juice. Coffee and a selection of teas are available throughout your stay.

We are 1 min from the bus stop or you can stroll down town. Views of the Remarkables from the lounge and kitchen, with a pleasant rear garden with table and chairs and BBQ.

We are in a pleasant neighborhood called Fernhill, with a corner shop, fish and chip shop and Vinos restaurant a short walk away if you don't want to head into town.

We are happy to help you plan your travel and see the sights of the Wakatipu region. Do you want to bungee, fly by wire, canyon swing, quad bike or just visit and sample the many winery s??? We are a great base for the ski fields, Remarkables, Coronet and Cardrona ski field or venture over the hill to Treble cone in Wanaka for the day. Queenstown is the place to be!

We are relaxed laid back hosts and dont stand on ceremony, If the dates required are unavailable we have a second bedroom

Please check out our references, they speak for themselves! Also we are happy to negotiate rates for longer stays. We hope to see you soon.

  • We found Ian & Velda to be he most perfect hosts
Everything was perfect, the room, the facilities , the hosts and of course the view.

  • We love this place. Ian is a very friendly and helpful host. We, however, don't have a chance to meet Velda. Their house is on a hill, overlooking a lake. The view is spectacular. Our room is spacious and the bed is very comfy. The house is very warm. The bathroom is very big and clean. Highly recommended if you visit Queenstown.

  • We had a great stay with Ian and Velda the night prior and two nights after doing the Routeburn track. They were nice enough to let us keep our extra things with them while we were out which was fantastic! Great hosts, clean, lovely home and a nice breakfast...definitely recommend staying here!

  • Ian and Velda are lovely hosts and their house is beautiful. The lake view from the lounge and the kitchen is to die for !
Everything was perfectly set up when we arrived, and perfectly clean. I highly recommend them as hosts....but I must admit they are not the stars of the house. Shortie, their cat, is :D

  • Ian & Velda were a lovely couple to stay with. They have a beautiful home and the rooms were clean. They were very nice and helpful when we had questions about the town. We would definitely love to come back to Queenstown and wouldn't mind staying with them again!

  • My partner & I loved staying with Ian & Velda! They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and gracious! The room and bathroom were spotless. The breakfast was a nice added touch! And we loved being able to do a load of laundry. Ian even helped us set up drying racks. Their kitty was adorable. The wifi was fast. We enjoyed some great late night conversations with them. Literally, we can't say thank you enough! Stay with them! You won't find kinder, more welcoming hosts anywhere!

  • A best place you can stay in Queenstown. The room is very clean and you will have a fantastic host!

  • Every positive review is absolutely spot-on: Ian and Velda are both fantastically friendly and welcoming hosts with a lovely and charming home. The only thing I hadn't seen mentioned by others was that there were robes in the room, which couldn't have made me feel more at home. If you're thinking of staying anywhere else anywhere near Queenstown just stop looking now and stay with Ian and Velda instead. You will not regret it.

About
Hi, we're a happy go lucky couple who loves to travel. I am a self employed commercial pipe fitter working around Queenstown and the greater southland region. I live in this beautiful area with my wife Velda and our lovely cat Shortie. We have no children. Originally from the UK we have lived in Queenstown for the past 7yrs. Velda works as a mental health nurse within local medical centers and manages the community mental health team. Having travelled a fair bit Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies as well as Sri Lanka are amongst my top 10 holidays. I love New Zealand and have travelled both islands. I enjoy camping, fishing, movies, photography and music. When overseas we like to book everything ourselves and dont go to travel agents. As hosts we are both laid back and expect our guests to feel comfortable in our home. A good sense of humour helps, we are not party animals and enjoy relaxing. We love listening to other peoples travel stories and talking about different cultures. We are openminded and welcome everyone to our home. Life is not a rehearsal!
