MRE INFO IN OUR HOUSE MANUAL UPON CHECK IN
We don't allow pets (sorry!) no smoking inside but on the rooftop only. We want you to make yourself at home, hang out and relax when here and act as a guest in our home-as this is our primary home and not a hotel or (website hidden) aware of neighbours when entering and exiting the house. Please recycle, use composting bin provided for fruit and vegetable scraps and try to conserve water-a precious resource in Mexico and electricity which is very expensive.(turn things off when not in use!) We minimize the use of paper in the toilets. We ask our guests to follow our example.
We will do everything to make your stay comfortable. We leave everything for your use and enjoyment. We have a great respect for others homes as we are fellow travellers, house swappers and house sitters ....we expect the same of our guests!
The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in is in the master bedroom! Seriously.
We booked this beautiful home 10 months before we arrived and at that time it was advertised as a 3 bedroom home. Since then it has been changed and our guest had to sleep on a blow up bed. Not ideal, but not terrible either.
The house is just as pictured and described with a studio and terrace, the view from which is breathtaking, hot air balloons in the mornings and sunsets in the evenings.
The only negative in the house is that there is no place to read in the evenings, except in bed. The living room is very dark with poor lighting (but comfortable furniture) and the terrace has no lighting other than decorative. Because there is nowhere to go for a walk in the evenings and we aren't TV watchers, we would have liked good reading lights.
The bus at the bottom of the street is frequent but in the daylight only. Taxis come quickly and cost $50 MXN to the centre.
A heads up to people with bad knees, hips, feet...the house is up a steep hill which is cobbled and you need to walk down and up the hill to and from the bus.
The only other problem is the noise of dogs barking. The owners are aware of this and have put in double glazed windows in the master bedroom, which certainly helps at night. But it seems many people have at least 2 or 3 dogs, most of which are incarcerated on roofs or behind fences and so bark out of boredom.
Other than that, it was a lovely place to stay, and very peaceful when the dogs were quiet.
The property was as described on the website but even better in person. It's a very lovely home. Very clean. We got in later than expected but Cate was patiently waiting for us. She is a very sweet person. Anything we needed she was right there for us. The town of San Miguel is wonderful. I would recommend staying here if you are thinking about coming to San Miguel. Thanks for everything!!!
Cate and Judson were great hosts, the house is lovely. We rent the whole house, and the time there was really relaxing. They were very helpful from the beginning to the end; I think it’s nice to live a couple days in an artist house, because you get to know the art-community. Hope to come back soon.
There is nothing like a good surprise. Cate and Judson´s place combines a great taste in Mexican arquitecture with the taste of two unique Artists. Considering that the location is a little out of the action, your first impression can be confusion, since this is a case in which a new development is in an area that still has low income residents. The bedroom and the bath are beautiful and in excellent conditions. Regarding Cate and Judson, I can share several nice details that made my visit to SMA unforgettable. Now I have a place that I feel as home and a couple of new friends that I see as Family.
This place is absolutely beautiful, comfortable, easy to get to/from...perfect in every way. I didn't get to meet the owners, but they were great to communicate with before my trip, and once there, Sergio, who helps take care of the house when they're gone, was a great host both at the house and gave me a great orientation to the city--how to get around, what to see, where to go. In short, I can't imagine that there is a better place to stay while visiting San Miguel de Allende.
Beautiful home with and amazing view of San Miguel. Cate and Judson's Art is through out the house adding a personal touch to an already outstandingly designed home. Sergio (who was looking after the house) Was so kind and generous and really made us feel welcome.
I could';t recommend this home more!!!!! thank you !

About the Host, Cate & Judson
We are both full time practising artists, Judson, a New Zealand born sculptor and master carver and Cate a USA born painter (and also life coach). We have created amazing homes in both Mexico and Australia that are filled with our paintings and sculptures along with surprising artworks of other international artists and many treasures from both our travels and from nature. We have both managed B & B properties as one of our many lifestyle incarnations and take pleasure in making travellers welcome and comfortable. We enjoy sharing our passions of art, history, culture, music, great food and of course traveling, with others!
We ended up living in Mexico after going on a year trip through South America and across the USA visiting the national parks.Looking for a place to stop and do some artwork, we went to San Miguel de Allende and felt so at home in this amazing colonial jewel. We are currently exhibiting our sculptures and paintings in Mexico, California and Chicago.
We also are enjoying sharing our skills and passion of art making with others. Recently we have opened our home studios both in Mexico and Australia up to both experienced and beginner painters and sculptors who want to have some fun and receive qualified, professional one on one art instruction. Feel free to ask us more about it!
Adventurers at heart, we have soaking up as much of beautiful Mexico when we are there doing trips to various archeological sites and many colonial towns along the way! People often ask us where is home-and we reply that home is in our hearts because we have them with us wherever we go!
Come visit! Happy Travels!
