The space

Southern Ocean Lookout is a modern two storey house, with a large balcony overlooking magnificent sea views. Whilst only a young building of 16 years, it has recently been renovated in 2016 to maximise the socializing space upstairs looking out over the sunset sea. Situated on a natural bushland block where the wild kangaroos and emus graze. Close to cafe, museum, shop and sporting club.
3 bedrooms, sleeps maximum 10 guests.

We have two queen bedrooms overlooking the bay and the third bedroom has a double bed and one set of single bunks. There is also a queen fold out sofa upstairs.
Fully equipped kitchen makes self catering a breeze, with large fridge/freezer, gas stove top and oven, Family Q Weber BBQ and outdoor setting, undercover and overlooking the sea. There is also a private courtyard at the rear. Large turning circle and ample space for cars and boats. Wood fire in the lounge for romantic winter nights, air conditioning to keep cool in the summer.

Boat hire available on site to holders of a boat licence.

I like to meet the guests and ensure they have everything they need.

Shelly Beach is a short 400m walk down the driveway, a beautiful spot to enjoy the afternoon sun. Farm Beach is only 6km away where you can drive onto the beach for a days picnic or launch a boat. Mt Dutton Bay jetty and boat ramp with floating pontoons is an easy launch inside the bay only 3km away. For those seeking adventure, four wheel driving in Coffin Bay National Park is 15 mins drive from the house. Greenly Beach is just another of our spectacular and virtually deserted surf beaches 20 mins up the coast towards Elliston. If coffee shops are what you need or grocery supplies then Port Lincoln is 35 mins (50km) away.

Catch a flight to Port Lincoln from Adelaide with Qantas Link or Rex and then hire a car from one of the agencies located at the airport. Alternatively self drive and/or catch the SeaSA ferry from Walleroo on the Yorke Peninsula to Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.

Beautifully secluded spot at the end of a quiet coastal road almost at the end of the Eyre Peninsular with fantastic sunset views over the southern ocean, Mt Dutton Bay and Coffin Bay National Park. It’s a 2 storey house semi detached from the owners house that has everything you or a family needs to be self sufficient and also, complete privacy. Jane’s Air B&B site gives you plenty of information about the property and what is available in the house. Lots of quiet beachside walks close by, and it’s only 7 kilometres from the Flinders Highway which in turn gets you to Coffin Bay or Port Lincoln. Sleeping areas are downstairs and kitchen, dining and huge open lounge area leading onto a large veranda are upstairs, facing west taking full advantage of the coastal view. Loved it, and can’t wait to return here some day.

Absolutely stunning location. While there were only 2 of us, we would definitely come back with a few families to enjoy the surrounds, view and great location. Thank you for allowing it to be shared!

it is secluded. Farm beach is only 5 min drive and beautiful long walk along a white sandy beach. but you can just sit in the house and soak up the views...

We just adored our sojourn at Janes wonderful ocean getaway, such a magical and private part of this country - and such a perfect nest to enjoy it from. Jane was a wonderful host, and we are already planning our return for a much longer stay. 5 stars and two thumbs up from us for anyone looking for the perfect getaway!

I had a very peaceful and enjoyable stay at Southern Ocean Lookout. It really is a special place. The house is very cosy and clean with all the amenities you need, such as BBQ, sheets, towels, shampoo and conditioner, toilet paper and some basic supplies in the kitchen. The house has excellent sweeping views to the water, and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching a stunning sunset. In between the house and water is some bushland, where I saw emus and kangaroos grazing - priceless! Jane was a very friendly, helpful and generous host. She and her partner were able to provide recommendations on things to do in the area, local restaurants and they even have a boat you can hire for fishing. I am keen to come back to experience the excellent fishing in the area. I’d recommend the Southern Ocean Lookout to couples or families.

I moved to Dutton Bay in 2005 with my partner Jay. We love the west coast lifestyle, enjoying the sun, surf, fishing, diving and almost deserted beaches. I enjoy adventure travel, multi day bush walks and camping on boats. I can't live without music, wine, chocolate and watching the sunset over the water!
