Uncle Joe's Place is a cozy cottage that sits close to the water with views of Charleston bridge and South Slough Estuary. Cottage is 490 square feet, perfect for singles or a couple visiting the area. Located just off Cape Arago Hwy and the town of Charleston. It's a short walk to convenience stores, restaurants and the Charleston Marina. It's up to you if you would like to meet or you can check yourself in with a lockbox. I'm very close by if you need any assistant or have questions.

The space
This small cottage sits close to the waters edge depending on the tide. The entry hall, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom all have short ceiling heights of 7 feet. The dining and living room have vaulted ceiling. The bedroom is in the front of the house and is a tight fit with a queen size bed, dresser and space to hang clothes. The kitchen has basic kitchen items but no dishwasher. A small bathroom is located off the living room and has a stand-up shower stall (36 x 36). The house has no washer/dryer but laundry facilities are close by in the town of Charleston. Smart TV and Wifi are provided, but no cable tv. The best feature of the cottage is the view from the living/dining room of the south slough and bridge. There is also a deck where you can watch the bridge go up and down, watch wildlife and the changing tides. When the tide is out the mudflats are revealed where you can find some of the best clam beds in Charleston.
The cottage is called "Uncle Joe's Place" because he built this place and it reflects upon his life and family. Cape Arago Lighthouse, Lifesaving Service, Logging, South Jetty, Lumber Mills and boat transportation are some things that where a part of his life. I've decorated the cottage in a beachy vintage history style to reflect Uncle Joe and his family which is also my family, he was my great uncle. I hope you enjoy the space!

Coos Bay, Oregon, United States

Uncle Joe's Place is located in a tight-knit friendly neighborhood with a mix of retirees and working folks. The cottage is located on a dead-end street with a mix of older small homes and mobile homes that are close together. The street can get busy with boats and cars since the neighbor across the street runs a fish cleaning business.
Most of the street is owned by family relatives including the cottage that settled the area in 1867. The family is mentioned in the book "South Slough Adventures" which tells the story of the people that once lived here and up the Slough.
We are walking distance to Charleston (5 min) and the Marina(15 min). Charleston is a working-class town with fish processing plants, commercial fishing boats, sport fishing, coast guard, general store, post office, restaurants, coffee roaster, bakery, shops, fish markets, Oregon Institute of Marine Biology and their Charleston Marine Life Center.

I was born and raised in North Carolina but part of my family history and roots are right here in Charleston, Oregon. I love living on the Oregon Coast and all it has to offer. My mother and I enjoy gardening and doing activities together. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world and working at the local state park has given me that opportunity.
