This quintessential vintage Martha's Vineyard cottage is 1 mi from Oak Bluffs & Vineyard Haven. Original details like interior whitewashed plank, exposed framing, gingerbread screen doors, and a covered outdoor breezeway connecting rooms create a charming mid-century cottage vibe. A 10-minute walk to the beach, direct bike path access, and convenient location make staying easy and relaxing. Ask the host about ferry reservations if they appear to be sold out.

The space
Vintage and reproduction mid century decor provide a nostalgic Martha’s Vineyard experience at our 1920’s cottage. It has an open living room and dining area and separate kitchen. A covered outdoor breezeway connects bedrooms, bathroom, and a separate shower room walkway to the main living area. There is a screened porch and an outdoor porch, a patio, and a huge yard. The property is set back 100 yards from the road. Plenty of parking.

Lots of great amenities! Memory foam and coil mattresses, nice pillows, soft cotton sheets and duvets, and cozy blankets make sleeping very comfortable. Thick cotton towels, smart HDTV with Roku live streaming TV, Netflix, Prime Video, HBOMax, high-speed wifi, outdoor gas grill, big picnic table, dishware, glassware, silverware, cutlery, cookware, lobster pot, microwave, coffee maker, blender, paper towels, dish soap, cleaning supplies, iron & ironing board, vacuum, hair dryer, toilet paper, hand soap, bath soap, shampoo, 6 beach chairs, cooler, 2 bikes, 2 ocean kayaks, window AC units and gas heat and space heaters plus ceiling and table fans.

Some of our guests choose not to bring a car as the property is centrally located between 2 main towns. Much to do and see within a few miles, cabs are readily available, the bus stop is nearby, and there is direct bike path access from the property driveway.

Ferry reservations are required for vehicles. Ask the host how to get a reservation when they appear to be sold out.

Guests who wish to bring a pet must contact host for approval and agree to our pet policy terms. We do not accept cats.

Guest access
Property includes 2 Ocean kayaks delivered and picked up for guests at Eastville beach and 2 Schwinn Sierra cruiser bikes provided free for guests which together adds a value of $160/day. Brush Pond marsh bordering our land is a protected wetland. Walking on the grassy marsh to access water is not permitted by law.

Many beaches within 10 mi from the property are public and easy access with plenty of parking. Closest beach is a 10 min walk.

Other things to note
Guests who may not be familiar with the MV cottage style described in this listing should be sure they understand the property description to ensure it is a good fit for their stay. For example;
“Breezeway”, an architectural feature similar to an interior hallway, it connects rooms, but is an outdoor hallway designed to allow the passage of a breeze.
“Shower room”, a separate room from the bathroom with an exterior entrance. Unlike an outdoor shower, a shower room is under the same roof as the rest of the cottage and has four walls and a door. It does not have a bathtub.

There are very few old style MV cottages like ours left on the island. We encourage guests to read our entire listing, view all of our photos, and contact the host if you need more information.

The property is located adjacent to the hospital. An 8-foot privacy fence tucked in the landscape separates the property. When Med Flight helicopters pick up emergencies the sound level is usually 50 to 80 decibels for an average of 2 - 3 minutes during landing and takeoff. Otherwise, the property is usually very quiet and relatively unaffected by our neighbor because only assisted living and doctor offices are on the side of the hospital closest to the property.

There are no exterior or interior cameras at this property.

We follow Airbnb's Enhanced Cleaning protocol. It can add up to 2 hrs to the cleaning process which is why our check-in time is 5 pm. We contact guests as soon as the property is ready for check-in if it's before 5 pm.

There is an attached exterior supply closet behind the cottage which the host may need to access during guest’s stays.
