Welcome to Your Mansion in the City!
The Mansard Suite is a TWO BEDROOM, ONE BATH Jack and Jill suite on the third floor of an owner-occupied private residence. This is my home, but because of it's size and layout, I can provide the level of privacy, freedom to come and go, and professionalism you would experience in a guest house or B&B. The historic neighborhood is very walkable and convenient to public transport. Please review the photos and read the description as this is a unique space.

The space

This is actually two separate bedrooms joined by a private bath (Jack & Jill Suite is the technical term).

The Mansard suite is a two bedroom suite which shares a single private bath. The unique bathroom is actually two rooms. The tub/shower is separated from the half bath, making it more convenient to share a bathroom. (Please see the blue area of the floor plan in the photos.) Bedroom 2 has a Queen size bed, Bedroom 3 is a Full. Fresh Towels and linens will be there for you when you arrive. There is also a mini fridge outside your door with a Brita filtered water pitcher and complimentary soft drinks.

This is room is on the third floor of a house with very tall ceilings. While the staircase has a gentile rise, it is 24 steps up to the second floor, and an additional 20 to the third, almost double that of a standard modern house.

Please see my listing "1BR Apt. in Mount Vernon w/Parking". This consists a complete apartment including kitchen, living room and laundry (see floor plan in photos). Booking this as well will essentially give you the entire third floor of the house.

This is an owner occupied, three story townhouse with an in-law's apartment and a two bedroom/one bath suite on the third floor, and two large bedrooms with private baths on the second floor. Links for the listings for these spaces can be found in my profile. I am LGBT welcoming. I do not serve breakfast, however, there are plenty of options within walking distance, and around the city, that I would be happy to recommend.

Guest access

When booking The Mansard Suite, you get more than just a place to sleep. All guests are welcome to enjoy the entire first floor of the house. Relax and enjoy a book, or access our Wifi network with your portable device, in the front or rear parlors.

The butler’s pantry, located off the dining room, is set up as a kitchenette for guests to store food, prepare snacks or small meals. There is a Keurig coffee machine with a variety of K-cups, milk, creamer, sugar, etc. Tea bags, soft drinks, fresh fruit, and breakfast bars are also available here.

Interaction with guests

I'll be here to greet you when you arrive, explain a few things about the house and your room, then I'll let you settle in.
I live here, but it's a really big house, so after I check you in, you may not see me much until check out. As you will not be passing through my personal living space, you are fee to come and go as you please. However, I am always a cell phone call away if you need anything. When I do see guests, I am happy to talk about my house, my neighborhood, and my city, if it seems to me that you are open to that. Otherwise I'lll let you go about your business.

Thomas is a wonderful host, and his place is every bit as lovely as the photos suggest. Can't wait to go back!

We had a great experience in this lovely home. The unique qualities of the home felt like we were guests in a living museum without feeling fussy about touching and using the furnishings. Both beds slept very well and the bathroom and shower were a delight! Clean towels, toiletries and refreshments were included and thoughtful. Parking was secure and easy. Lastly, Thomas was easy to work with, helpful and available.

Thomas' beautifully appointed historical home was perfect for our weekend in Baltimore. Passing through the foyer, you feel as if you've stepped back in time to 1875. Magical! Centrally located, we walked (URL HIDDEN) the O's game Friday night and to the Inner Harbor and beyond on Saturday. After an active day we were able to go back to Thomas' for some z's in our cozy suite before heading back out. Would recommend to others and would return in a flash.

What a pleasure it was to stay in this gracious - and spacious - abode! The first floor was at our disposal, and included a front parlor, small kitchen, and ample dining spaces, as well as a petite and immaculate bathroom. We stayed in the third floor suite, which was precisely as advertised. Two comfortable connecting bedrooms, with a large shared bathroom. Perfect for our family of three. Every available amenity, from Wifi to free drinks in a minibar, was available to us. We had privacy and autonomy, and Thomas was very responsive to questions. The neighborhood (Mount Vernon area) is quiet, but very nearby to many places that we wanted to go - I highly recommend the Walters Museum - and we enjoyed several fun places to eat, all within easy walking distance (Dooby's and The Bun Shop!). If you don't like stairs, then this might not be for you, since there are plenty, but we didn't mind them at all. I don't think I'll ever want to stay in a hotel again!

Our stay at Thomas's was great! The rooms were clean, comfortable, and just as they appeared in the photos. We didn't see Thomas when checking-in but had no problems with check in or keys. We met Thomas the next day and he was very nice and knowledgeable about the city. The house is in a beautiful, historic neighborhood. Would definitely recommend Thomas's for anyone staying in Baltimore!

Thomas User ProfileThomas is a superhost.

I'm a burnt out graphic designer starting a new life as an Airbnb host. Larry and I have put a lot of ourselves into the restoration of our historic home. Sadly, Larry is no longer with us, but I will continue to share what we had created together with others. We were both very proud of our city and our neighborhood and I look forward to sharing with guests all they have to offer. This is a Gay household where everyone is welcome.
