  • We stayed at the Stylish Studio Ramada between the 27 until the 31 March 2014, the accommodation was true to its description and we certainly had a pleasant stay. We would recommend eating out the rest of the facilities were excellent.

  • After weeks in Melbourne I had a fabulous stay at Mary's Stylish Studio in Port Douglas. The place lived up to its name done up in cool white and lime green which really works well with the tropical setting. The location is perfect as the view is towards the pool/restaurant and on the top floor (3rd) and it's a corner unit so the front door is right next to the stairwell and elevator. You can literally be at the pool/restaurant/bar in less than 30 seconds. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the bathroom was ample with two wash basins and a jacuzzi style bath (no water jets) and stocked with everything one needs to stay fresh and clean. There is also full service refrigerator, a kitchenette with sink, microwave, sofa, glass dining table and a desk for working. There is also a rather large flat screen TV and Mary has stocked it with the top films of the last few years including most of this year's Oscar winners (I watched Dallas Buyers Club). Last of all there is plenty of closet space for one's personal belongings. The Ramada Resort is a nice place. It is possible to spend an entire day there with the open air restaurant, pool, and bar. The wifi only reaches the unit occasionally so be prepared to do your surfing while lounging by the pool. Often I would find myself alone at the pool at the odd hours (12am-2am) doing my internet stuff but with the 24 hour a day warm weather I found it most pleasing because during the regular hours the pool and restaurant are quite lively. The location makes for a nice 4k walk to or back from town. There is also a shuttle that costs $5 so it's great to be able to walk if desired which I did many times. I'll never forget walking back from dinner at midnite under full moon with gigantic bats flying overhead especially as I passed the ancient cemetery. Mary was not present when I was there but was in contact daily making sure my needs were being met and offering suggestions of places to eat and things to do and was always ready to help with ANY problem I had while in Port. On my return to Melbourne she was also there so she contacted me and offered to take me to lunch. We got to know each other quite well over lunch and she also took the time to show me around some areas she knows in greater Melbourne (the beaches). We made quite a pair with me a dark skinned 6'5" African American with fresh tattoos and a mohawk and she a classic Aussie with a real tan and a massive smile that can light up a room. She's just a great human being that really made me feel comfortable in her presence.

    Response from Mary:

Wow Kelly! That is a awesome review. Thank you! The feeling is mutual!
It was my pleasure to host you and that you appreciated my advice and our communication skills were 10/10. It was also wonderful that we were able to meet in my hometown of Melbourne and share some of our travel /life experiences together over lunch at Brighton Beach Baths.
I also very much appreciated that you showed the respect and appreciation of my "Slice of Paradise" and left it in FIVE STAR( 5* )condition.Thank you Kelly.
Will keep in touch via(website hidden). Have a wonderful time in Sydney before you return back to SF soon.
    Sincerely Mary..

  • We stayed at Mary’s studio in February 2014 and truly enjoyed our stay. From our first interaction, Mary was were very professional and helpful and the property lived up to the description provided. The studio is decorated and appointed with everything you could possibly need. The studio is located within the Ramada complex and is approximately 3-4 km’s from downtown Port Douglas.

We loved our visit to Port Douglas and recommend this property!

  • We had a really nice stay at Ramada resort. Mary's unit is exactly as the picture, the bed is awesome so comfortable and the resort itself is really nice too.
We didn't meet Mary was really helpful.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at her place. :)

  • This was a lovely place to stay for our first airbnb experience. Mary provided information for the room, resort, and PD, and she was quick to answer questions.

The resort is perfect for relaxing, and it's easy to arrange day trips with pick-ups or catch the shuttle into town. The room is just as pictured, with ample space for a couple on holiday. There was a cyclone watch when we were there, so it was reassuring to know there were pantry supplies, just in case. It was also handy to have access to a laundry room just down the hall, as that helped us prepare for the next part of our trip. The only downside was the weak wifi signal in the room—you need to go to the pool/restaurant area to access it.

Overall, a great experience and highly recommended!

  • Wonderful stay in the resort. Great to be able to use all the facilities e.g pool. Great location - v close to 4 mile beach and shuttles into town were very easy to access.

    October 2012
  • The studio is in the Ramada Resort and is located just five minutes by car or free shuttle to Port Douglas center. The lobby and grounds as well as the pool were well maintained and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. There’s a restaurant pool side that is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We didn’t eat there so I can’t rate it. Food did look good though. Just a short walk from the resort and you’re at the beach. Nice. The room features a king size bed, sofa and kitchen area which is well equipped and very comfortable. There’s a large TV and there are several DVD’s available to choose from. The bathroom has double sinks and is spacious. Mary communicated well throughout the booking process and was very flexible with arrival and departure times. Mary is very knowledgeable of the area and gave many suggestions of thing to see and do. I would stay here again.

  • A great place to stay. Mary provided everything one could possibly need for a week's stay and was very helpful in suggesting hotels in Melbourne. We would definitely return!
It's a shame the internet at the Ramada is not better though!
