Built by Cranbrook students for their thesis in micro-housing and revived by us in 2016!

We have hosted over 500 guests ranging from a full boyscout troup to the broadway cast of The Book of Mormon to the parents of kids who play basketball at the highscool nearby.

The space
In 2007 this modern cinder block home was built as the brainchild of Cranbrook Architecture Master’s students Matthew Miller and Thomas Gardner. Their project was a huge undertaking and revolutionary, a 900 square foot home, uniquely designed for urban living was designed and ultimately constructed. The home has a unique open floor plan designed specifically with sustainable passive heating and cooling in mind. With no doors separating one room from another the house instead creates privacy and a distinct character per room through intelligent placement.



The space has gone through a series of hands since those students have graduated. Under our care and extensive remodeling we now feature Detroit artists in the space and do our best to showcase it's unique heritage.

Guest access
Guests have access to the whole house with a front door code generated for each stay. If requested in advance the code can be custom-set to a number of your choice

Other things to note
Our hot tub services are available for a $130 fee of groups up to 6 ($10pp for each additional guest beyond 6). Tub must be requested more than 2 days in advance and no hot tub if it gets colder than 12° (F) out.

We have a fire pit and outdoor seating as well as a propane grill in the summer time.

Neighborhood highlights

The neighborhood around this home could be called many things. It's towards the northern limits of historic Black Bottom, towards the southern limits of Poletown East, and towards the eastern limits of Eastern Market. Our home stands alone and while secluded is very secure within easy view of the neighboring police station and public school.

You'll hear announcements from DEPSA on school day mornings, church bells of The Sweetest Heart of Mary throughout the day, the refreshing sounds of nature, and the humming of a more-and-more bustling downtown skyline in the near distance.
