We are a small family run guesthouse on the north coast of Bali, located in the fishing village of Anturan and just a short walk to the beach. We are just over 2km from central Lovina (Kalibukbuk) and 6km from the town of Singaraja, Bali's second largest city.

We are in a quiet and peaceful location, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist centers in Bali.

We have a relaxing pool to cool down in and have free wifi internet that can be used throughout the complex and in the guest rooms. We are internet junkies ourselves, so you can be sure our connection is fast and reliable. It won't be as quick as what you are probably used to in your home country, but it is adequate enough for most tasks.

This room is one of four rooms in our complex. The rooms all look out onto the adjacent ricefield and feature terraces with chairs and tables. The room is large with a four post double bed. The room features a pitched Balinese style ceiling and stone work throughout the bathroom. Air-conditioning is provided for your comfort.

Some of our guests who have stayed with us include writers and people who have internet based businesses and they have found it is a quiet and relaxing place to chill out and still get their work done.

We have a small restaurant and feature a range of Balinese Indonesian and western dishes. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. We also offer cooking classes for anyone who wants to learn how to cook Indonesian food. Since Anturan is a fishing village, you can be sure that the fish was caught the same day.

We have a brick BBQ for grilling fish or any other meat and a rotisserie for cooking roast chicken or duck.

There are a number of attractions and things to do in the area. Lovina is famous for dolphin trips, which you can book through us. We have motorbikes for rent and we also have two mountain bikes which can be used for free. The area is good for fishing and snorkeling. A trip to Menjangan Island is a must for diving or snorkeling enthusiasts.

Our aim is to provide a quiet and relaxing place to stay, with spotless rooms, friendly service and a range of attractions and experiences to make sure your stay in Bali is a memorable one.

Lovina is about a 2-3 hour drive from Bali's international airport. The route passes through Bali's cool central mountains and the drive is very scenic and you can even spot monkeys along the way. We can organize our driver to pick you up from the airport or anywhere else in Bali for an additional fee. Contact us for further details.

If this room is unavailable, please check our other listings, all of which are located in the same complex, with similar amenities.

Guest Access

Guests have access to pretty much all areas of our property, except for our own house and the restaurant kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

We live on the property full-time and able to help with any questions or problems guests might have. We do occasionally go away for travel (we need holidays too!), but we have staff to take care of our guests and we can always be contacted by phone or email.

The Neighborhood

We love that our area is quiet and peaceful and you can still see traditional Balinese life. The local people are friendly and will stop you for a chat and sometimes even invite you to their house. The beach is great for a quiet drink and watching the sun go down, while be serenaded by local guys strumming away on a sometimes in tune guitar.

Getting around

Small public buses (bemo) travel up and down the main road. We are close to the Perama bus station, which offers a budget shuttle bus service around Bali. We also have our car with driver, who can take you around for a reasonable price. We have parking for several cars and is included in the price. We offer an airport pick up service (not included in the price). We have 2 bicycles for guests to use for free and motorbikes for rent.

Other Things to Note

We have a dog "Aby" but she is friendly and great with kids.

  • Ammanda and Mike are wonderful hosts. They have a very special place - comfortable bungalows, lovely gardens surrounding the dazzling pool and excellent meals from the restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay at the Mumbul Guest house.

  • We stayed nearly 2 weeks in the Mumbul guesthouse and had a pleasant time. We used it as our "base" to explore the north of bali. The room we had was like a small house, with air condition, a big bed, TV + DVD player, free WIFI and a separate bath room. We also had a small deck in front of the house with a nice view on a rice field. The pool is very nice and clean. They also had some stuff that you can use for aqua gym. The staff is very friendly and always helpful, though they don´t speak much english (and I don´t speak much indonesian) but it always worked out some way. They also helped me to buy a local sim card for my mobile phone and get it working. The breakfast is really really good for Bali standards, as you can choose between 4 different dishes and they are all tasty. The very young chef cooked also great balinese dishes in the evening and snacks in between (try the Spring Rolls). The rooms could be cleaned a bit better and a table or shelf in the bathroom would be great. Also we shared the room with a quite big gecko, which is good on the one hand as he killed all the insects but on the other hand he also left his daily scat on our floor. The guesthouse is in the small village Anturan and is surrounded by nature and farming, so don´t be confused if you hear (and see) some pigs, cocks, dogs or cats. We also rent a motorbike there for a fairly cheap price which took us through the north and to central Lovina (Kalibukbuk) which is about 2.5km away from the guesthouse. The guesthouse also provided mountainbikes for free, which is great as I really can´t recommend taking a walk to central Lovina. You can easily go to Singaraja, the 2nd largest city on Bali. With the motorbike it´s a 20 minutes drive. Or you can go to Permuteran in the north west, it´s a 40 minutes drive from Mumbul. The owners have dog which is really friendly. They also offer tours which you can book directly at the reception. We did the Lovina day tour which was nice as there was no rush and we could choose the destinations on our own. If the driver would have spoken just a bit more english, then it would have been perfect. We really can´t recommend the beach in Anturan as it is really dirty and full of waste, but you´ll have the chance to enjoy a fresh juice on the beach while a small pig walks around you. If we visit the north of Bali again, we´ll come back.

  • We loved our stay at Mumbul Guesthouse with Ammanda. We were initally supposed to stay there for 2 nights but ended up staying for a week instead. It's a beautiful place with great rooms and a nice pool. Very relaxing. Definitely recommend staying here. You will need a bike to get around but like everything else at Mumbul, it is very reasonably priced to rent a motorbike at Mumbul. Also, Ammanda has put together an amazing guidebook for the area for places to eat, things to do, etc. They also book tours at reasonable prices.

  • Hotel Lovina consists of the three separate rooms, on the territory there is a very good swimming pool, Ammanda with her family lives in the next house. They have a cafe on the territory, so you could easily have breakfast, lunch or dinner right there) We liked very much staying there!

  • We had a great time at Mumbul. The rooms were great and the wifi was sufficient for our needs. I would definitely recommend staying there. Their prices for tours and transportation were very fair and the advice helpful. Also, I would strongly consider renting a scooter for your time there so you can bounce around to nearby restaurants and attractions. Thanks again guys!

  • Mumbul was indeed cheap, but tastefully decorated. I loved my king-sized bed with mosquito nets. I loved the pool too! The black sand beach was within five minutes walk. I bought some local vegetables and the chef was always on hand to prepare me a special Balinese dish.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would have stayed longer, but there was no vacancy. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Nice and cozy place, away from the crowds. I like the friendly staff and especially the semi outdoor bathroom, totally unique!
The room we got is really big, enough for 4 people (there were only 2 of us at the time) and it's facing the rice field. Beautiful view.
    Would definitely recommend this place.

  • We had a relaxing week at Lovina. The food was great especially the gado gado. Everyone was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our holiday easy.
