About This Listing
Welcome. Our cozy home offers sanctuary. Surrounded by ancient oaks, a dry creek with restful bird-watching spots. Just a short scenic walk to Ojai Village's unique shops, restaurants and theaters (live and film). Enjoy our Sunday's Farmer's Market!
This little country-like home was built in 1949. Upgraded throughout the years. Settled on a side-walk-less street, surrounded by trees and vast views of the Mountains that hug Ojai Valley. Birds from humming to blue jays, many whose names I don't know, sing their morning songs. This is a peaceful sanctuary of vibrancy. An invitation to stop, pause, hold still and deeply relax.
You will have access to the entire house (except host's bedroom) and yards. Relax sip your tea or coffee on the dry creek-side of the house. Large umbrella and chairs are there for your bird-watching and listening pleasure. Join us in keeping Peeka, our lovely calico, in the house. Many thanks!
Interaction with Guests
As my longtime friend Cathy mentions in her Friend Reference, I am intuitive. Quiet and engaging. If you are interested in hearing my preferred eateries, etc I love to share and promote local merchants. I'm equally interested in hearing what brings you to Ojai. And a bit about your interests in general. Meditation and yoga practices are highly welcome. We can clear a space for you, for both if that appeals to you. Namaste!
Our neighborhood is friendly and community oriented. Before I moved in I was invited to my next door neighbors, Dave and Elizabeth's house warming celebration. That's friendly!!
I love the views of surrounding properties. Trees. Trees. Trees. The primary colors offered the viewer are varied shades of clouds, blue-hues and multitudes of greens.
It's spacious. Kids, adults pass by on their bikes. Folks say hello, good morning or stop for a brief chat.
When there's an event in the Village, you'll notice people dressed for the occasion. Walking to their destination. Be it Libbey Bowl or The Art Center on Montgomery. Or maybe simply strolling to have a good meal at a great downtown restaurant.
It's warm and friendly. With no sidewalks! Has a country-feel while being within this charmingly small town. Welcome to the Neighborhood!
You can walk to downtown from here. Ojai Trolly stops are just down the street on Grand Ave. Trolly runs 7 days a week. Routes include: Ojai, Meiners Oaks and Mira Monte. Gold Coast Transit's bus depot is a short walk from here too. They offer fixed-route services in Ojai, Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme. You can always bring or rent a bike! There are several great bicycle shops in town. Rails-to-trails routes are enjoyed by walking and cycling enthusiasts alike.

Antoinette was lovely, friendly, welcoming and helpful without being clingy. The house was simple, clean and had everything I needed. I enjoyed the fresh berries and nuts Antoinette provided. My 3 day stay was relaxing and delightful.
I really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere that Antoinette created in her home. The accommodations were exactly as described, there was plenty of privacy and very nice touches such as berry bowls and tea in the mornings. It was very nice to meet and connect with Antoinette, I definitely recommend this stay.
Antoinette was an exemplary host! The room as exactly as described, Ojai is a small town so everything was definitely walkable although I didn't do much walking. The house is clean and a bunch of essentials (shampoo, soap, wifi password) were provided.
Antoinette was kind enough to remember the reasons I was visiting Ojai (wedding + hike) and offered very useful advice regarding where to eat and see the natural beauty of the area. She always had a smile on her face and was available to chat when I had questions but also understanding of my tight schedule which prevented extensive interaction.
It's also useful to note that Antoinette is a big supporter of the Airbnb homesharing ethos. We talked about how she considers homesharing to be a way of strengthening community bonds and how she wrote her state representative and even spoke to lawmakers when they were considering harsh regulation of AirBNB in California. I think it's cool to stay with a host who cares so much about this evolving space.
Antoinette was warm, friendly and inviting. She was so helpful in finding information for public transport to my workshop and was always willing to answer any questions about where to eat. The house was clean and cosy.
Antoinette was a great host. She met us when we arrived. Gave us the lay of the land. Left us some snacks in the room. In the morning she provided a delicious fruit bowl and made sure we had all the fixings we needed for coffee. The place was clean and very welcoming. Thebes was super comfortable and a great shower.
Antoinette was nice and her house is comfortable. I enjoyed my stay at her place and Pica (or Pika?) is really an adorable cat! I will definitely recommend her place if you come to Ojai!
Antoinette was the host for the last and recuperative stop on my tour of graduate schools in Southern California. I recommend her as a host and her home as your base during a trip to Ojai. The secluded back bedroom was quiet and perfect for my driving-worn mind. Being in the neighborhood with walking distance to downtown meant convenience without trouble parking when spending time in town during tennis tournament festivities. Antoinette is knowledgeable about the area and travel, so she has good stories and local knowledge. She was also very patient with my uncertain plans until I was actually on the way to Ojai.
