Interaction with Guests
Interaction is generally when I serve breakfast to my guests. That is when questions about tourist attractions in San Francisco and car travel in California usually are addressed. The privacy of our guests is very respected. The security of our home is also respected.....our dogs bark....they don't bite. If you are our guests, they understand completely. They will greet you, sniff you and then let us know each time you come in the front door or come down the stairs. Our reviews from international guests speak for themselves and we are happy to host returning guests on a regular basis.
Daly City is as multi-cultural as you can get! We live in a safe, residential neighborhood with easy access to both the city of San Francisco and the Peninsula. As you turn into our street from the Korean Market with the Greek statues past the Chinese Restaurant, Jade Dragon, you will find us.
We are walking distance from the Daly City BART station which connects directly with the San Francisco International Airport. Catch the BART train into the City or the Muni 28 if you want to go the Golden Gate Bridge. If you are driving, we are 2-3 minutes away from H-280 going north or south. If you want to travel on H-I along the Pacific Coast, you can see the coastal ridge from our house. Point your car west, and in about 5 minutes and 6 stop signs you are on Highway One. Hiking on coastal ridges, or watching hand-gliders at Fort Funston is what I do every day. If you want to come along, I'd be happy to show you my part of the California coast!

We really enjoyed our stay in Syd's house. It is very nice and in a nice neighborhood. Also enjoyed the breakfast and the company. I would recommend it!
I had a wonderful stay at Syd's place. The photos don't do her home justice. The bedroom is bright and spacious with great amenities, making the slightly longer commute to/from SF worth it. Syd is very accommodating and offered to hold my luggage past checkout when my flight was delayed. Her dogs are sweet and funny characters. I recommend Syd's place to those looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
We got very lucky stumbling upon Syd & Barry's listing. Everything felt so much like home and we felt more than comfortable. Huge home, second floor to guests so there's privacy, immaculate decor, super comfy beds, extremely clean, fridge with water, granola bars for sudden hunger pangs, lovely soap bars in huge bathroom, TV, ample space...huge outside yard, walking distance to public transport, safe neighborhood, easy parking, not too far from SF.
Their animals (especially Ernie & Joy) made our days more enriching and their darling granddaughter Shirley Marie is an absolute joy.
Syd is an inspiration and in that short duration she unknowingly thought me important life lessons...the importance of family, love of animals, helping out those in need, staying healthy and aging gracefully and living a full and active life. She's a very special lady with so many skills and talents. We looked forward to her loving, tasty breakfasts and spending our mornings with her family. We miss them very much.
Epitome of what Air BnB should strive to achieve with every listing.
Syd is a great host, the room if very homy and comfortable, and the dogs are as friendly as dogs get. Quite neighbourhood with easy access to the airport and to the city. Very much recommended.
Syd's beautiful house was a home away from home for me and my son, Wei Ken. She and Barry were very warm, gracious and helpful throughout out 7 nights stay. Syd left us chocolates, biscuits, drinks in the room and laid out a nice breakfast every morning. She even gave us a lift to the Bart station one morning. We had quite a bit of luggage and she gave us a lift to drop them off at our next destination when it was time to leave.
The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated with Asian artifacts. Just as described and more. Picture perfect. The bed is soft but very comfortable. Her house is well located in a nice and quiet neighborhood and just 8 min walk to catch a bus. The Daly City Bart station is a 15 min walk and takes you into the city in 15 min.
Thank you for your warm hospitality, Syd and Barry. We will be back.
Merci beaucoup
Syd's place is absolutely fantastic. The room was beautiful (much better than what the picture shows) and equipped with everything that one could possibly think of! Syd is a great host. She was welcoming, flexible with timings and helped us with several recommendations related to places to see and restaurants. It was the perfect location to explore the Bay Area and a short distance to SFO. The BART station is very close by so it made travelling around the area very easy.
If you are looking at exploring the Bay Area and SF City, look no further!
I am a retired first grade teacher that now works/volunteers with the Wilderness School in Daly City, an intervention program for at-risk teenagers. I am originally from San Francisco but have travelled extensively and lived overseas. My home is shared with my Australian husband, Barry, a retired auto mechanic, 2 cattle dogs, a rescued wire-haired terrier, new tortoise shell kitten and a garage cat. We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking with our dogs on the bluffs or beach near our house or working in our garden. I like to cook, back-pack, play the accordion, swim daily, practice my spanish, knit and read. Our former long-time boarders include a Parisian chef, a Syrian Kurd seaman, a Korean yuppie and our Japanese-American gay god-daughter. I consider my home to be warm, friendly and tolerant. Our house is located on a corner, so there is plenty of parking. The neighborhood is safe, multi-national and friendly. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the Daly City BART station or Westlake shopping area. Lite breakfast is provided every morning. Our dogs,
Joy, Ernie and Mariah (Our son's dog who visits frequently) are friendly and will noisily greet you each time you come in the door or come downstairs.
