For those interested in history: Bloomsbury was developed by the Russell family in the 17th and 18th centuries into a fashionable residential area. It is notable for its array of garden squares, literary connections (exemplified by the Bloomsbury Group) and numerous cultural, educational and healthcare institutions.
Historically, Bloomsbury is associated with the arts, education and medicine. The area gives its name to the Bloomsbury Group (also Bloomsbury Set) of artists, the most famous of whom was Virginia Woolf. The publisher Faber & Faber is in Queen Square (former Editor: T. S. Eliot). Also, the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was founded in John Millais’s parents’ house on Gower Street in 1848.
James and Akbar's place was beautiful. Wonderful views, very clean, they were both extremely accommodating. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly. Can't get a better location either, as the area is bustling with things to do and is a 5 minute walk from the Euston underground station. Wish I could have stayed longer.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at James and Akbar's. They were very courteous guests and I wish I had had the time to get to know them more, considering their interest in the arts and theatre, which is one of the main reasons why I often travel to London. Their flat is very conveniently located, in the Euston Station area (about 5 minutes walk to the Tube entrance) and all the usual amenities are close at hand (restaurants, cafes, etc). The apartment is on the eighth floor of one of the tallest buildings in the area, therefore the view is stunning, as described on Airbnb. The room is very comfortable for a solo traveller and very quiet at night. The shared bathroom was not a major problem. I will consider booking with James and Akbar again in the future.
Excellent place to stay in a great location if traveling as a single. James and Akbar were very gracious hosts. They allowed me to check in early when I arrived (previous guest had left just before). Clean accommodations, access to full kitchen. Would be hard pressed to find a better location for this price.
I had a great stay at James and Akbar place. Their apartment is well located and the room is very nice.
I'm finding it hard to leave a review for James and Akbar as they are now friends rather than hosts! it was, again, a very happy stay and, with another friend of theirs, we had a wonderful evening out in London exploring some of their favourite places. Trying not to sound too 'over the top' but I do feel that my life is enriched by meeting James and Akbar, thank you to them, and to airbnb! An example of how much care they take of their guests was that, as I was eating a simple fresh breakfast prepared by Akbar, James, all suited and ready to head off to work, was busy ironing the bed linen for the guest they were expecting that evening ! 5 stars in every respect.
Awesome awesome awesome! Such great people and such a lovely room and apartment. Akbar was so easy going and kind, offered breakfast and tea/coffee. They were so accommodating and were such great host! Would highly recommend them again and again! No wonder they are getting amazing reviews! Will stay again if I do get the chance!
Akbar & James were absolutely wonderful hosts! Staying with them was exactly the kind of experience that one hopes for when going to a new city. I was traveling solo, but chatting with them at "home" felt like I was hanging out with friends each morning before going out for excursions on my own. I treasure having met some of their friends and then going to the theater together on my last night.
On the practical side: Their location is very central and made it easy to explore the city. The room and apartment is exactly as described. But far more important that this are all the little hosting touches that they offer, from coffee and cereal in the morning, to a collection of London guidebooks in the bedroom. Akbar's little hand-drawn maps of recommendations based on my interests were wonderful.
I look forward to returning to London someday and hope that I can visit them again on my return!
Staying at James and Akbar's place is just as I expected and others have written - fantastic. The from the bedroom - and well also the kitchen and the living room is amazing. The place is clean, comfy and lovely and very conveniently located. And Akbar made me a tremendous healthy breakfast. Also invited me to his spinning class at 7am (which I unfortunately could not attend.) I'll stay there again when I am in London!
My stay with Akbar and James was great! They were unavailable when I arrived but had their nice friend , Lorraine wait for me. The view is just as pictured as are the accommodations . Akbar was particularly warm and helpful. He drew me several maps of the area to attractions and restaurants. They are considerate and quiet. I was offered breakfast each day and Akbar was kind enough to let me use the washer and dryer which was a great help to me. The central location near St Pancras station allows for an efficient home base. I was able to walk most places but the tube station is right outside the door as well. There is some city noise, but you are in the middle of the city so I would expect that. Thank you Akbar and James , I would not hesitate to recommend their apartment.
It was lovely staying with James and Akbar and would definitely book to stay here again. From the moment I stepped through the door I felt safe and was so well looked after. Great hosts, great flat and room with amazing view. The area is also very nice and convenient although I was only working around the corner for 2 days so did not need to venture far. I parked in car park on Bedford Way for the duration, about 10 mins walk from James and Akbar's flat. Thank you :) - was much nicer than staying in a hotel.
