Staying here is really a unique experience, it is off the beaten track and is so tranquil and peaceful most people leave with the feeling of floating on air. It really does have a magical quality.
Jack's Cottage is everyone's dream of a romantic Irish thatched cottage! It has been beautifully restored and fitted out. We wish we had been able to stay longer. Bridie's instructions to get there were absolutely essential, culminating in a very narrow farm lane. We were welcomed with a tasty loaf of Irish wheaten bread. Bridie was very helpful and a wonderful hostess. We would definitely stay again!
What a wonderful place!
Great effort has been put into making this special place more special. The tastefully restored thatched cottage and it's beautiful gardens are tucked away at the side of the blackwater river, sweeping all your worries away.
I'm sure you'll be charmed by the warmth of the welcome, not just from Bridie and husband, but all their thoughful touches. Home baked bread and fresh flowers on arrival, it comes with enough friendly chat to allow you feel at home, but enough space to allow you enoy the peace of the place.
A real gem!
What a wonderful weekend (email hidden)laxing by the fire, listening to the rain and gentle river sounds outside was an absolutely treat! (all while devouring Bridie's wonderful soda bread & jam - YUM) We will definitely be back to enjoy Jack's cottage again, hopefully next time for a longer length of time. For anyone looking to de-stress like us this is the perfect spot and our hosts were wonderful. Thank you for a fantastic experience!
Staying at Jack's cottage was a highlight of our recent 11 day tour of Ireland. Bridie was a perfect hostess and we felt most welcome and well cared for, with her living just up the lane. She and her husband have done an exceptionally fine job at restoring this amazing thatched roof cottage, The early morning mist rising off the river outside the windows, as we had morning coffee by the fire, enjoying Bridie's home made soda bread and preserves is indeed a fond memory. The cottage was exactly as described and very comfortable and the surrounding area is lovely. Bridie was a wealth of information about places to go in the surrounding area. The long lane into the cottage is narrow and care is required to avoid scraps to the side of the vehicle but Bridie provides excellent instruction ahead of time as to how navigate your way to the cottage.
Thank you Brenda for you kind review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Your description of your early morning at the cottage, highlights the kind of experience which can be enjoyed uniquely at Jack's Cottage, The lane is certainly a challenge, however it is the reason why the cottage has retained its old world charm. We hope to see you the next time you pass this way!
