Hunting Lodge in Wicklow Mountains

House - Private room · Pine Ridge Farm, Kilbeg, Ireland

The Space

Our home is a delightful hunting lodge set in the Wicklow mountains on the edge of the Blessington Lakes in the Wicklow National Park. This is a magnificent rural setting but the centre of Dublin is just 45 minutes by car. There is a regular bus service from Blessington to Dublin which takes one hour. However you do need a car to stay with us as there is no public transport link to Lacken.
We have two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom with an adjoining shower room. One double has an ensuite and the other double and twin share a bathroom.
The rate includes a delicious full, cooked Irish breakfast to set you up for the day and welcome tea, coffee or drink.
Lacken is the perfect gateway for exploring the wild and beautiful Wicklow National Park which is on your doorstep - just step out and enjoy it. The lake is surrounded by the Wicklow mountains. Around the lake are lovely small Irish villages: Hollywood, Valleymount and Ballyknockan with delightful small cosy pubs and some very good, informal restaurants such as the award winning Ballymore Inn, The Brown Bear and the Hollywood Inn.
Other attractions in the area are:
Russborough House - one of the most significant Palladian mansions in Ireland with magnificent contents and lovely grounds which is open to the public.
Tulfarris Golf Course which is an highly rated course is just 15 minutes away.
National Hunt racing - the great sport of Ireland - has its home at Punchestown Race Course which is 20 mins away.
Avon Ri Sports Centre situated in Blessington has a full range of lake based activities for adults and children including sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.

  • Felicity and her family are fantastic hosts and made myself and my family very comfortable and welcomed into their beautiful home, which is in picturesque West Wicklow. The scenery and views from their home is breath-taking.

We enjoyed lovely walks with the friendliest dog ever, got to feed 3 majestic horses and share a wonderful meal and great conversation with our hosts. Our brief trip was finished off with a delicious breakfast.

I can't wait to stay there again and would highly recommend it to you.

  • Of all the many places I have stayed with Airbnb, truly, this was the best. Felicity and her family welcomed us into their wonderful home as if we were part of their family. A warm welcome, a beautiful house, wonderful food, and all in a fantastic location to explore a beautiful part of Ireland. I am sure we will be back!

  • This is as good as it gets in the BnB world. Felicity was a bit busy between our visit and entertaining family. No problem--we were treated like family, too. I hesitate to list all the things she and her genial husband Patrick did for us, extra help that got us out of a bind or made our stay more pleasant. It would be unfair to her to establish such a high level of.service in writing. The Wicklow natural environment is beautiful, the house very nice. Do visit them!

  • We had a brilliant stay with Felicity and her family. Their house and garden are absolutely stunning. They were very easy-going and interesting to talk to. The restaurant and hiking tips were great, and we loved discovering the surrounding areas, especially the beach walk with their cute dog, Bobby. The breakfasts were amazing and we would highly recommend staying here!

  • Our stay with Felicity was absolutely the best part of our trip to Ireland. There could not be a more generous, helpful, and genuinely friendly hostess than Felicity. The house is beautiful with an amazing view and perfectly comfortable accommodations. Felicity spared no pains in ensuring that we saw the best bits of the incredibly beautiful countryside; she devoted time each day to assisting us with directions and maps. She also cooks an absolute feast of a breakfast. At the end of our trip my 21 yr old brother said what we all felt: We wished we had stayed longer in Wicklow with Felicity and her family.

  • This was the perfect end to our Ireland trip. Wish we could have stayed longer! Felicity instantly made us feel like family. We arrived just before sunset to a warm fire. We chatted and shared stories before my wife and I walked around and enjoyed the scenery. She was so nice to make us hot chocolate, which we loved! The whole time she was very helpful and attentive to our needs. When it came to sleep we slept like a babies!
Breakfast was delicious and more than we expected.

This was our first time using airbnb and Felicity made everything a wonderful experience.
If you're looking for a real Irish experience look no further!

  • We spent the last three nights of our Ireland visit at Felicity's place and it was the perfect culmination of an already wonderful trip. We used her place as a base for our explorations into the Wicklow Mountains and into Dublin. The house is situated at Blessington lake and has the most amazing view over the water. We were greeted with open arms, and every evening Felicity lit a fire for us in the large sitting room, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfasts that she prepared for us in the mornings were exactly what we wanted and a perfect start to get us going for our exploration days. Our highest recommendations for this experience, we want to come back!

  • We had a wonderful stay with Felicity and her family. The house is absolutely spectacular. We arrived in the evening and were greeted by Felicity with a glass of wine by the fire. In the morning, when we came into the kitchen for our full Irish breakfast, we were treated to the greatest view over the lake. The area is beautiful, we drove around and took some walks. I would love to come back some time when the weather's a bit warmer!

  • Felicity is such a wonderful host with such a beautiful home. The fire and soup was perfect after a day of hiking in Wicklow. Good conversation and information about Ireland. Perfect place to go in Ireland!

  • I arrived at "Hunting Lodge in the Wicklow Mountains" quite late at 23:00 after a long day of work and travel. Felicity welcomed me and lead me into her large sitting-room with a blazing fire and a friendly dog. There I consumed a delicious bowl of soup and brown bread while Felicity and I exchanged some stories.

The en-suite bedroom was everything I needed to rest, sleep and recover.

In the morning I eat a hearty breakfast of bacon, eggs and tomatoes, cooked exactly as I liked them. A freshly-made bowl of fruit, porridge, some brown bread and a pot of tea, rounded off my breakfast.

I am ashamed to write that I accepted Felicity's offer to iron a shirt (two actually). I asked for an ironing board and iron so I could do my own ironing. Felicity made it clear that it would be easier for all if she did the ironing.

I arrived at 23:00 and left at 08:00 next morning as I had a 9:00 meeting in Dublin. This was not enough time to enjoy all that Felicity, her husband, the dog, the horses, and the beautiful house and surroundings, were offering me.

My daughter is planning a visit here so she can go horse riding while my wife and I do some hiking in the nearby Wicklow Mountains.

Passionate about Wicklow and the great outdoors: riding, walking and being on the water. We live in the Wicklow hills which sweep down to the Blessington Lakes where we swim and sail. We keep three Irish horses which we hunt in the winter and trek around the mountains. I love our garden where we grow as much as we can - outside and in a tunnel - flowers, vegetables and herbs. We collect and are deeply interested in Irish art and Irish books. I run painting courses both in Wicklow and the South of France - and making art is an important part of my life in Wicklow. I love to cook and experiment - particularly using wild ingredients or home grown produce: in autumn I am busy making chutney, sloe gin, fruit cheeses and other delicious things to store up for the winter.
