Marian and Kevin were absolutely wonderful. My wife and I and her son stayed for 3 nights. They helped with directions, had a great breakfast every morning (Marian makes great bread and scones). The rooms were very large and the beds very comfortable. They went out of their way to be helpful in every way possible. We were looking for dinner on a Sunday night, the local pub stopped serving food at 7 and we got there at about 7:40. When they heard who we were staying with, they made us sandwiches and chips. The house is very easy to find (which I can't say for most of the houses we stayed in in Ireland. I would recommend them to anyone looking to stay in this area, or just to find a place to relax and hang out. Kilmaine is a small town but central to a lot of areas in western Ireland, that is why it is the "center of the universe"
The hospitality shown by Marian and Kevin is unparalleled. To sit down at their table to hot tea and scones after navigating the narrow, somewhat confusing roads of rural Ireland was the absolute best. Yes, they have a beautiful home and yard, the beds are comfy, the bath towels are sublime and breakfast every morning is a delight. But the best part of the centre of the universe is that Marian and Kevin welcome you with open arms as part of their family. They know every nook and cranny of the area and can give directions to literally anywhere without even needing to look at a map, they are full of information and ideas about how to spend your time in Ireland (though my sister and I would've been just as content to hang out in the backyard all day) and they genuinely care about their guests. It's pure magic.
Marian and Kevin were wonderful hosts and their house was lovely (with the most outrageous window boxes I've ever seen!). They were a great laugh and made us feel very welcome and at home with lovely fresh scones and bread on arrival. Ours was sadly a fleeting stay en route to Knock airport, but if I ever pass through again I'd definitely stop by! Thanks for everything!
I spent two weeks at Marian and Kevin's home and every day was sublime. They are the world's most gracious hosts and I will always treasure our time together. Their home is beautiful, the garden is loaded with breathtaking flowers, and Kilmaine is a quaint friendly village. Marian's scones and brown bread are the best in Ireland. This was my third trip to Ireland and I have stayed in numerous luxury hotels, castles and B&B's. I truly believe that the "center of the universe" exceeds any hospitality and ambience of a 5 star hotel. Also, my stay afforded me the opportunity to see the real Ireland in a way I had always dreamed of. So, skip Ashford Castle and stay with Marian and Kevin Sheridan.
Marian and Kevin were sweet and wonder Irish hosts. They were very accommodating to our schedule. And the breakfast, scones, and bread were delicious. They helped us with directions to get to our next destination. Themselves and their home was everything you would expect from the great island of Ireland.
Marian was a wonderful host, welcoming us a bit early. Her home was cosy and within walking distance to all in the village.
