The Space

Have your own beautiful room in a San Francisco flat near the Panhandle in the heart of San Francisco. The flat has 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom is shared by an artistic couple and the other 2 rooms are shared by 2 females. The room is cosy and private and can accommodate 2-3 people.

::: About the Private Room :::
The room is medium and has a queen size bed, large drafting style desk and office chair, and big closet . Its the perfect size for a traveler. It can sleep 2 comfortably on comfy clean sheets. Have your private room for you and or a friend.

Fully stocked kitchen available to make coffee and tea and make food. Watch a large flat screen tv in the living room that has Netflix, etc. Share the bathroom with one female. The room is in the middle of the flat. Its a pretty good size. The flat tends to be really quiet and chill or sometimes we are social and share a meal or a laugh.

:::The Neighborhood:::
The Panhandle is a wonderful place to go take a walk and see the vibrant diversity of people and things, for an extra 10 minutes you can walk straight into Golden Gate Park and see the Conservatory of Flowers or the De Young Museum. Within a 5 minute walk you are either in the Haight Ashbury or Golden Gate Park. Public Transportation accessible via the bus ride on the 5 or the 21 bus to downtown to get to Muni or Bart in about 25 minutes. All major shopping, restaurants, cafes, etc within a short walking distance to the Haight Ashbury. Grocery stores near by include Lucky's, Trader Joes, Whole Foods or Haight Street Market. Also on every block in every direction of the flat are nice coffee shops. Vibrant neighborhood near all the art, culture and shopping one could ever desire!

::: The House :::
The home is a large flat shared by a couple that has the master bedroom and a home office. The artistic duo both live busy lives in and outside the home. Its a 4 bedroom flat and the other room mate is a female lawyer and the other female is doing her law internship.

Bath room has a shower and tub and is clean and private for you and your things. Laundry in the garage if needed. Each person gets their own drawer. However the plumbing is old in the house and we ask you make a concerted effort to clean up your hair from the drain/hair stopper we require, or avoid letting hair get down the drain at all by sticking it on the wall while showering then wiping off with toilet paper and putting it in the trash. Especially for women with lots of hair, must make a conscious effort, which I am sure is true for 99% of old SF homes.

Yes we have a fully stocked kitchen and anything is free for use. You can use our pots and pans and we have tons of tea that is community. Some room mates eat meat including Pork (cook bacon in the am) Some are strict vegetarians. We do separate cutting boards for meat and veggies and can accommodate anyone but we are not a strictly vegan or vegetarian house. Also 2 room mates are gluten free and one of the room mates tends to cook more than others but is very generous and shares a lot of food.

We hope to give you space in the fridge for your food and a shelf for your snacks. We want to make it comfortable for you.

If you have a car you can do street parking and its no permit parking on the park side of the Panhandle and you can park your car in front of our drive way.

Thanks for checking it out!
We are happy to answer questions. Etc.

Interaction with Guests

We like to be social with our room mates and find a happy medium between totally being a hermit holed up in the room and being a personal psychologist and therapist for life's problems. We hope to have a warm, friendly and social environment and are happy to share information or a laugh, we want to be social and friendly. In this multi cultural household, we tend to be more social and look each other in the eye, say hello and good bye and have social interaction that is appropriate and not rude or withdrawn.

The Neighborhood

This is in the heart of the City, and the best location because you can take a walk in the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park and the park is 5 minute away with the Conservatory of Flowers, De Young Museum & the Academy of Science but the best part of all is a 5 minute walk to the historic Haight Ashbury neighborhood. Please research this online about why its important, think free love movement of the 60s with the rock and roll life style, etc. Don't be scared of the homeless youth on Haight Street. They are not that bad, but look terrible. God help them.

Getting Around

The 21 Hayes is right on the corner and its a 20 minute ride to downtown SF. We recommend the bicycle and not brining a car. Biking around is fun, cheap and easy.Not to mention much faster.

If you have to park, there is a lot of information. YOU DO NOT EVER leave ANYTHING in your car in SF ever, there are too many crack heads. Don't leave yourself vulnerable, ALWAYS read the signs for street cleaning, tow away and limitations and curb your wheels, even the slightest down or uphill grade can be a major ticket.

The neighborhood requires an L permit and you can contact the SFMTA about how to get a residential permit including a temporary pass. That means that any where in the City where a permit is required, between 8 am and 6pm its 2 hour parking. So you can move the car around if you can get parking. The good news however is that this flat does have the garage, so you can block our garage over night and have your car parked in front of the house and without worry, if we need to get out, we use the sidewalk and have developed good parking skills.

However there is available parking on first come first serve basis along the park side of the Panhandle on Fell Street that doesn't require a permit, but it fills up fast. The best thing to do is after street cleaning, circle the block and follow the street sweeping machine and as soon as it passes by pull in and park after the parking jerks have passed by to avoid a ticket. There is also no permit parking on Hayes street along the side where the John Adam's campus of City College is or the North side of Hayes.

The apartment says parking because you can block the drive way, but we don't offer you your own private garage spot.

If you need a garage spot in a secure location, one option is the Lucky's Supermarket on Fulton Street has a parking garage where you can get a spot.

If you are coming from the airport, the best thing to do is to get a Supper Shuttle and you can search it online, its about $20. Taking Bart is about $10 and you would take the bart from the airport to Civic Center, then take the 21 Hayes Bus. Taking a cab from the airport will cost about $45 or $50 bucks.

Other Things to Note

Our flat is dated and it has not been remodeled or upgraded so its not the most modern flat in the City. The carpet is a little bit old and the kitchen is screaming for an update. However we love the location.
