Cosy little appartement in Berlin Mitte, at Torstraße – Schönhauser Allee…
Central at Rosa Luxemburg Platz, one stop away from Alexanderplatz. You can walk to the Alexanderplatz by foot in under 10 minutes.
Nearby, at the Schönhauser Allee there are lots of neat little restaurants. There is a great Italian place (Due Forni), a spanish restaurant (Tauro) and several chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese and German places. The white trash is right around the corner.
A ten minute walk takes you to the Mauerpark where you can stroll around the flea market. In another five minutes you can walk over to the Weinbergspark where you can get great brunch on Sundays. Just around the corner is the Rosenthaler Platz which has a lot to offer in terms of bars and cafes.
It’s quiet because it is a side street and the bedroom is towards the yard.
The pictures are a little out of date, there is a big dining table in the living room now.
There are a lot of DVDs for the flatscreen TV, free Wifi, books and magazines and a Nintendo Wii :)

I could recommend this apartment for a short stay. It’s quiet, central and in good condition.
For longer stays, I wouldn’t. There are a number of things to be aware of
Marc’s guest service skills are poor and unpleasant.
There is limited space to store clothing. Marc agreed to remove his clothing. When I arrived it was still there. I spoke with him about it and incredibly he asked me to pack up his things and put them in his storage unit. I said no, as I didn’t want to be responsible in case something was damaged or missing. He finally agreed to have a friend do it. After that he sent me an email stating ‘I hope you appreciate the big effort I am making’.
Upon entering the apartment, Marc advised me the shower railing was not sturdy and to close it gently. It was only attached at one end to the wall. The other end was balanced on a small ledge. Within a week…of closing it gently…it fell off the wall. I notified Marc it needed to be fixed and said I shouldn’t have to pay for it. He responded saying in effect I was a bad guest, should pay for it, and threatened to file a claim against my Airbnb deposit. He also asked me ‘who broke it’ which was strange considering I rented the apartment on my own.
A number of items in the apartment are in rickety condition – coffee table, dresser, and kitchen cabinet for dishes. I recommend doing a thorough inventory inspection and agreement prior to entry, so that if something already damaged does break, you won’t have to pay for it.
The mattress was uncomfortable and it looks old, dirty and stained.
The bedroom does not have curtains to block the light. There is a fleece blanket hanging that partially blocks the light.
I’m not a big cook, but the complete lack of cupboards and no countertop was a nuisance. Cooking equipment is limited.
Either the apartment was not cleaned prior to my entry or the cleaning service used was not good. The bathroom was particularly dirty.
Marc’s explanation of the features of the apartment was poor. When asked how the gas stove worked, he said ‘I don’t know, I never cook’. He said the TV had cable, but didn’t explain how it worked. I never figured it out. The windows are old. I opened the top section in the bedroom and it slammed down breaking the window below it. I had never seen a ventilation window that didn’t stop part way. It would have been useful if Marc had explained this beforehand. I informed him of what happened and paid for it.
If you’re moving to Berlin, at Marc’s insistence, you can't list his apartment address on government documents. People moving to Berlin must register with the government’s Burgeramt office and if you don’t have an address to put down other than Marc’s, you’re out of luck.
I am sorry you were not happy with your stay Michael!
I have to admit on being hard on Michael in terms of communication, because I had the feeling that he did not have a lot of respect for my home: On the first day he broke a window and a week later the shower curtain. I think all my previous guests can confirm that I am pleasant to communicate with :)
We met before Michael rented, in person and in place so he could have a thorough look at my apartment. I showed him I had no cooking equipment and he said that was fine since he'd bring his own anyways. I told Michael on the first day of moving in, that he can not list my apartment as his living place due to legal reasons and he was fine with that too. He never asked about the cable TV, could've been explained in a minute...
I offered plenty of times, to waive the booking, because Michael seemed unhappy, but he did not act on it. I find it sad to not take that option but write such a review here now.
Regarding the broken window & shower curtain: I thought I should not be the one paying for that, obviously. I did not 'threaten' in any way but I filed a case for the deposit the regular way and AirBNB decided that Michael has to pay 100% of the window and 50% of the shower curtain.
Finally: To say my apartment is unclean is really upsetting me, as it is just not true. Michael might have had a problem with *me* but to write something like that - when it is not true - is just below the belt! I made a video the day I left the apartment and one can see that the whole apartment is in very clean condition, which is super important to me and all of my previous guests can confirm that!
Marc was very helpful, especially considering it was a last-minute booking. The apartment was in an excellent location for our first trip to Berlin
Our stay in the apartment was absolutely fantastic. The location is excellent, close to anything we could need (drug store, supermarket, bars, restaurants...) and the apartment is really comfy.
10/10 for Marc !
Marc let us stay in his place at extremely short notice, while he was away on vacation. He set up all of the logistics for getting us keys to his apartment, and it all went really smoothly!
The apartment itself is in a great location, and a great place to stay. Spacious and well-decorated. We had a great time staying there, and definitely recommend it!
tolle Wohnung mit sehr guter Lage am Prenzlberg. Wohnung ist wie beschrieben und Kontakt war sehr freundlich und unkompliziert. Jederzeit gerne wieder.
Great apartment in a wonderful location. The apartment was even nicer than the photos, which was a very pleasant surprise. Marc was a gracious host and left us snacks and even a few beers! Coordinating to get the key took a bit of work, but in the end everything worked out. Thanks for a lovely experience!
Fantastic apartment in an amazing location. We felt very at home here and were so amazed with how cheap it was for the quality and location of the apartment. Extremely happy with our stay, we didn't want to leave. Marc was extremely nice and very generous. Highly reccomed!!
Marc was great, getting the keys was a bit of trouble as we would not meet up with Marc directly but he made certain that I had received the keys. The location is perfectly located near Alexanderplatz S and U bahn station with great food and things to do near by but also easy to travel around the city. The place is actually a lot larger than the pictures indicate and it was spotless on our arrival. We had some trouble figuring out the oven but I am sure if we had messaged Marc he would have replied immediately as he did with our other issues. All of us would stay with Marc again!
My partner and I stayed at Marc's apartment for 12 days in the Summer. We had the place to ourselves so we did not meet Marc in person, however he was still incredibly helpful. He responded to all questions we had over email very quickly.
The apartment is in a great location and was perfect for getting around Berlin. I would highly recommend this apartment to other travelers.
The flat is super cute, fully equipped, and in a very nice location. There are some nice bars, restaurants, clubs and shops nearby.
Marc gave us some recommendations about the city, he left us some beers and snacks in the fridge and quickly responded to our emails during our stay.
