Le Mouton Qui Rit - the laughing sheep
Our B&B is in a tiny farming village in the north of the Haute Saone. Lots of forest, hilly and excellent for walking and cycling holidays!
You can do POTTERY in our workshop and if you stay about a week (special pricing available) it can even be fired and glazed in our electrical oven. There is a solar heated pool, so you can swim from May till late October
Everything is enclosed so it is safe for kids to run around. They can play with our sheep, help feeding them or just walk along. Or roam in our orchard, look for nuts under the walnut tree.
DISTANCES TO OTHER CITIES:
50 KM to Epinal&Vesou TGV !
80 KM to Gray, Langres, Gerardmer, la Bresse (ski)
100KM to Dijon, Besançon, Nancy.
It is 45 km to the A31 and 35 to the E25 (route solei) so we are situated pretty central.
Close by you can ride horses, rent a culot (horse and wagon) there are a few spots you can go kayaking. There are a lot of thermal baths for a few hours of a cure of several days. And driving around in the area is just a must.
We offer also a Table d`Hôtes, we have a passion for cooking, especially the medieval dishes. And of course you may assist in cooking, suggest dishes, the kids always love to help us too.
Nice stay I would recommend this place to stay. Great dinner!
After driving 800KM from Nice, Cornelis and Fanny had two lovely rooms setup for our family! The rooms were top notch and as good or better than a quality hotels. The B&B is in an old farmhouse and has a lovely yard, pool (which we did not use unfortunately!).
Cornelis and Fanny are very nice hosts and chatted with us for a long time before we had to "log off". We were sad not to have spent more time at their B&B, which seems a great place for nice walks and perfect for motorcyclists and bicyclists touring the franche-comte region.
A cozy and comfortable place, very informal.
Mr.Cornelis and wife Fanny make a mean meal for you to enjoy. Not to forget the wine. Conversations can have a broad range of subjects around the dinner table.
We wil. Be back if we can manage
We had a really great time at the Mouton Qui Rit. Cornelis was very accomodating and cooked a great meal, his wife is fantastically frriendly, and the sheep were vocal and happy out in the fields. We used the pottery studio everyday and learned at lot. We are in our 6th week of pottery classes, and had just enough experience that we were looking to get some extensive free studio time to try out our ideas. Le Mouton Qui Rit was the perfect place to stretch our pottery wings and try out all of the ideas and experiments we had built up through our course. Cornelis was very helpful, occasionally dropping by the studio, giving us tips on throwing pottery, and helping us to assess our work from a more experienced point of view. the ceramics studio (which is in a barn attached t the house) was very spacious, and well equipped with two electric pottery wheels a 'walze' to create slabs, and two kilns. Unfortunately the rain ruined our chance at a wood firing, which would have been very exciting. Cornelis was very relaxed, he let us plan our timeslots for the studio very freely and was very fair with the pricing of studio time. Overall few had a great time and gained a giant leap on our way to becoming master potters while we were there. If you are (even slightly) experienced with pottery and are looking to get some practice, this is the place for you. (oh! And there's a pool, and beautiful countryside, we couldn't have asked for more.)
