The Space

Rent our room with private bath in Taftsville, Vermont. The room in on the second floor. It has a queen-size bed, bureau, desk, bedside table, books and bookcase and a small closet. The bathroom with shower is private and directly across the hall. The room also contains a small fridge for creamer and snacks. Tea and coffee are provided. The Appalachian Trail is close by. Taftsville village is part of Woodstock and four miles south of the green and its fine restaurants, antique stores, library, movie theater and shopping. But we're also only twenty-five minutes west of Hanover, Dartmouth College, museums, theaters and shopping. Cross-country skiing, walking, running and biking on dirt roads and trails is right out the backdoor. In summer, our flower gardens are in bloom and there are blueberries and raspberries for the picking. In winter Killington Mountain is 25 minutes west on Route 4 and there are other ski areas closer to us. In Fall, the colors along the backroads and River Road are spectacular. Recently reconstructed Taftsville Covered Bridge is on the most photographed places in Vermont. This is a great getaway for an individual or couple. We can accommodate a small family too. Please, no smoking inside the house and no pets.

  • Tim was fantastic. He was adamant about being at the home when we arrived, to make sure we were settled in and our questions were answered. The room was equipped with a coffee machine and a mini fridge filled with bread, butter, homemade Jam (his wife made!), orange juice, yogurts and milk. Literally EXACTLY what I need in the morning! The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. There was a beautiful view of the wintery forrest out the window. It was super convenient to get into Woodstock (a town a DREAM of living in one day). Just perfect all around, for what we needed. The price was excellent and I highly recommend staying here. The cat was adorable and friendly. I love animals, so was absolutely no problem!

  • The bed was big and cozy. There was a writing desk with a window and a thoughtfully stocked fridge in the closet. Before I showed up I asked Tim for suggestions about where to dine and what to do and he promptly responded with a generous email. They were there to help and answer questions and also very mindful of our privacy. They were wonderful hosts in a wonderful home. I would and will absolutely look them up again!

  • This Vermont Farm House is located on a quiet road in Taftsville close to Woodstock and Quechee. The home is a large, family friendly farm house with all the amenities one could need. It was perfect for my family of four. There are two bathrooms, a tub and a shower. There is a washing machine and dryer and dishwasher. There is a TV and DVD player. There is internet access, although the connection was spotty when we were there. The backyard had a lovely garden full of fresh veggies and berries. There is a large trampoline in the back and tree swing in the front (which both my girls loved). The home is full of books and games and toys.
Tim, the owner, was great to work with. He was very responsive to emails and eager to give us ideas about places to visit. Our family had a great time. We would certainly say here again!

About
Hi, My wife and I and our three children have lived in this wonderful house since 1995. We are self-employed. My wife is a professional facilitator and I am a freelance writer. We both travel often for our work. We have a large garden with lots of blueberry and raspberry bushes in the summer and apples in the fall. We like to bike on the dirt roads, fish in the river, go to the movies at town hall theater and go dancing at the local contradances. It's a great neighborhood here and accessible to much of the best of what Vermont has to offer including trails and hiking, swimming, shopping and site seeing in Woodstock, skiing at Killington and leaf peeping in the Fall.
